¡Cuando una lámpara es encendida con otra, habrá dos donde solo había una! La primera no detuvo su brillantez. Se pueden encender un millón de lámparas con una sola; ¡empero, la primera no sufrirá! El amor también es así. Compártanlo con un millón, aun así será tan brillante como cuando estaba solo. Cuando cada casa de la calle enciende unas lámparas y las coloca en la puerta, o en el parapeto del techo, portón, porche y así en más, ¿cuál es el efecto? Todo el pueblo está lleno de luz, los residentes están felices, los niños bailan de alegría, y el cielo brilla en el resplandor del gozo terreno ¡La luz se esparce mezclándose con otras fuentes de luz! ¡No tiene límites, prejuicios o favoritismos! Esta es la lección de la luz y el amor; compartir, expandir,
estrechar, esparcir, romper los límites de lo mío y tuyo, de él y de ellos, casta y credo, en una sola corriente de Amor ¡Esa es la culminación de todo el sadhana espiritual! Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Divino Discurso del 29 de octubre de 1970.

 

When a lamp is lit from another, there are two where there was just one! The first one did not stop shining light. You can light a million lamps from one; yet, the first will not suffer! Love too is like this. Share it with a million, it will still be as bright as when it was alone. When each house in the street lights a few lamps and keeps them on the door, parapet wall, gate, porch and so on, what is the effect? The town is filled with light, residents are happy, children dance in joy and the sky shines in the glow of earthly joy. Light spreads mingling with other sources of light! It has no boundaries, no prejudices, no favourites! This is the lesson of light and love; share, expand, clasp, spread, give up limits of mine and thine, his and theirs, caste and creed, in one limitless flow of Love. That is the culmination of all spiritual sadhana! (Divine Discourse, Oct 29, 1970)

Me gusta la simplicidad, me gusta la vestimenta que no disuada a la gente de acercarse a ustedes en busca una palabra amable, un poco de servicio, o una mano para ayudar. Debe estar limpia y decente; no excéntrica o rara. No debería ser usada para atraer la atención. Así como desean usar ropa limpia y cómoda para el cuerpo, deseen también ejercicios limpios y reconfortantes para la mente como el japam, dhyanam (repetición del santo nombre y meditación), etc. Usen los ojos: para mirar cosas saludables, los pies: para proseguir hacia la casa de Dios, las manos: para servir a las encarnaciones de Dios que se mueven en derredor como hombres, la lengua: para aliviar el dolor, alabar la virtud, y glorificar a Dios. No usen el ojo para vulgarizar su cerebro, y los pies para hacer cola para ver películas nocivas. El carácter es el regalo más preciado de la educación.
¡Yo considero la gratitud como su componente más importante! Todos deben expresar gratitud a sus padres por este regalo de la vida. Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Divino Discurso del 23 de julio de 1970.

 

I like simplicity, I like dress that will not discourage people from approaching you for a kind word, a bit of service, a helping hand. It must be clean and decent; not outlandish and queer. It should not be worn to attract attention. Just as you desire to wear clean comfortable clothes for the body, desire also clean and consoling exercises for the mind like japam, dhyanam (repetition of holy name and meditation), etc. Use the eyes to watch wholesome things, the feet to proceed to the house of God, the hands to serve the embodiments of God moving around you as men, the tongue to soothe pain, praise virtue, and glorify God. Do not use the eye to vulgarise your brain, and the feet to stand in queue for deleterious films. Character is the most precious gift of education. I consider gratitude as its chief component! La frustración es causada por un diagnóstico erróneo en la causa fundamental del sufrimiento. ¿Puede aliviarse un agudo dolor de estómago masajeando la cabeza? La demora no importa; descubran la causa del problema, y luego apliquen el remedio. El verdadero remedio para todos los problemas es el correcto sentido de los valores. Las parejas casadas piensan que serán felices cuando tengan un hijo; pero eso es solo el comienzo de una serie de preocupaciones. Se preocupan por la salud del niño, sus hábitos, la escuela, los amigos, el matrimonio, las posibles carreras, y sigue una interminable cadena. La mente multiplica las raíces de la preocupación, la ansiedad y la pena. Cultiven el desapego, no el apego. Concéntrense en la gran herencia de la humanidad; entonces, abandonarán el apego y no se ocuparán en bajos pensamientos, palabras ni acciones. Contemplen en

Frustration is caused by wrong diagnosis of the root-cause of suffering. By massaging one’s head, can you relieve an excruciating pain in the stomach? Delay does not matter; discover the real root of the trouble and then do the remedy. The real remedy for all troubles is a proper sense of values. Married couples think they will be happy when they get a child; but that is just the beginning of a series of worries! They worry about the child’s health, habits, schooling, friends, marriage, career prospects and so on, in an endless chain. The mind multiplies the roots of worry, anxiety and grief.Cultivate detachment, not attachment. Dwell on the great heritage of humankind; then, you will give up attachment and not engage yourself in low thoughts, words or deeds! Contemplate on Dharma, Sathya and Prema (Righteousness, Truth and Love) which are the foundations of humanity and that will guide all your actions to be righteous. (Divine Discourse,
