Los ateos («Nastikas») están afectados por una fiebre que arruina su sentido del gusto, ya que a todo lo encuentran amargo. Un creyente («Astika») percibe el gusto tal cual es: amargo lo amargo, agrio lo agrio, dulce lo dulce. Pero la persona de realizaciones («Yastika») experimenta todos los sucesos de la vida como dulces, repletos con la Gracia del Señor. Prahlada era una persona así. Aunque fue golpeado, pisoteado, y debió pasar por fuego y agua, sólo percibió dulzura en todo momento, y superó cada calamidad con la fuerza que provino del nombre Narayana en su corazón. Hay un resorte oculto en el corazón que reacciona al ser pronunciado el Nombre, y que calma la sed. Cuando te encuentres en dificultades, ora pidiendo Su guía antes de apresurarte en una determinada dirección. Los seres humanos sólo pueden aconsejar hasta donde su inteligencia se los permite, pero el
Señor te revelará la salida ante cada dilema. Pídele al Señor directamente, ¡y Él no sólo te responderá sino que también te redimirá ! (Divino Discurso, 10 Marzo 1962).

 

The atheists (nastikas) are afflicted with a fever that spoils their sense of taste; they find everything bitter. A believer (astika) feels the taste as is: bitter as bitter, sour as sour, sweet as sweet. But the person of realisation (yastika) experiences all life events as sweet, filled with the Lord’s Grace. Prahlada was such a person; he was beaten, trampled upon, and cast into fire and water, but he tasted only sweetness at all times. He overcame every calamity with the reinforcement derived from the name Narayana in the heart. There is a secret spring in the heart that will well up when the name is uttered and that will slake your thirst. When in difficulty, pray for His guidance before jumping in any direction. Humans advice only as far as their cleverness goes, but the Lord will reveal to you the way out of every dilemma. Ask the Lord directly and He will not only answer you but also redeem you! Las mujeres, que eran los baluartes de la cultura de India, las guardianes de la antigua riqueza espiritual, están sucumbiendo rapidamente a las efímeras atracciones de la cultura casquivana, como resulta evidente en los modos de vida y de comportamiento social en los tiempos actuales. Este es el resultado de un sistema educativo artificial y vacío, junto con las sutiles influencias de la literatura barata y de las películas vulgares. Las jóvenes mujeres de hoy son las madres y maestras de la generación de dirigentes próxima. Todos deben respetar a sus cinco Madres: «Deha Mata», la madre que te trajo al mundo, «Go Mata», la vaca que provee la alimenticia leche, «Bhu Mata», la tierra que produce cosechas, «Desha Mata», la patria que te da protección, cuidados, amor, derechos, y oportunidades de servir y de elevarte a grandes alturas, y «Veda Mata», el tesoro espiritual que revela el
propósito de la vida y te conduce a la auto-realización. La «Deha Mata» debe revelarle al niño las glorias de todas las otras Madres, de modo que su responsabilidad es la más grande y más crucial. (Divino Discurso, 22 Julio 1968).

 

Women, who were the bulwarks of Indian culture, the guardians of ancient spiritual wealth, are fast succumbing to flimsy attractions of foppish culture, as is evident from the modes of living and social behaviour of present times. This is the result of the artificial and empty system of education, as well as the subtle pulls of cheap literature and shoddy films. Today’s young women are the mothers and teachers of the generation of leaders to come. Everyone must respect their five Mothers: Deha mata, the mother who gave birth to you; Go mata, the cow that gives sustaining milk; Bhu mata, the land that grows the crops; Desha mata, your motherland that gives protection, care, love, rights and chances to serve and elevate yourself to great heights, and Veda mata, the spiritual treasure that reveals the purpose of life and leads you to Self-Realization. The Deha mata must reveal to the child the glories of all the others; so her
responsibility is the greatest and most crucial. (Divine Discourse, Jul 22, 1968)

El «Atma Vidya» (la ciencia del Yo) por sí sola puede fijar la mente en «Dharma». A nuestros estudiantes se les dará una fugaz ojeada de dicho «Atma Vidya», y eso les provocará un agudo deseo de conocer más sobre esa ciencia. Ese conocimiento y deseo los colocará en posición firme para cuando deban afrontar los problemas de la vida. Prahlada le dijo a su padre: «El padre que conduce a su hijo hacia Dios es el único que merece la reverencia debida a ese rol». Aquellos padres que llevan a sus hijos hacia el vórtice de los placeres sensuales, a los volcanes de la pasión física, a la pantanosa ciénaga del orgullo y de la pompa, no se percatan de sus deberes y responsabilidades. Así también, un sistema educacional que mantiene a los niños alejados de Dios – quien es el único refugio, el único familiar, la única guía y guarda – es
realmente un sistema en el cual los ciegos están dedicados a cegar a aquellos que dependen de ellos. (Divino Discurso, 22 Julio 1968).

 

Atma vidya (science of the Self) alone can fix the mind in Dharma. The students here will be given a glimpse of that Atma vidya; they will develop a keen desire to know about it. It is that knowledge and desire that will stand them in good stead when they encounter the problems of life. Prahlada told his father, «the father who leads his son to God is the only father who deserves the reverence due to that role.» Fathers who lead their sons into the vortex of sense pleasure, the volcanoes of physical passion, the boggy marsh of pride and pomp are unaware of their duties and responsibilities. So too, an educational system that keeps children away from God – the only refuge, the only kinsman, the only guide and guard – is really a system where the blind are engaged in blinding those who depend on them.
