Incluso si uno no intenta buscar a Dios, puede al menos buscar paz, alegría, felicidad, e independencia (shanti, santosha, soukhyam, y swatantra ). ¡Las personas hoy en día no buscan estos ni tratan de aprender cómo conseguirlos! El trompo gira perpetuamente y no tiene descanso; la gente también ambiciona y labora por siempre jamás, sin lograr alivio de su continuo girar. La única paz y alegría que consiguen ahora es momentánea; está aquí en un momento y se ha ido un minuto después. El dolor pone un freno a la alegría: la alegría es sólo la ausencia del dolor. ¿Por qué debe uno vivir por años como una carga en la Tierra, consumiendo tanto arroz o trigo año tras año, sin recibir en retorno
alegría o paz para sí mismo o para otros? La luz de la lámpara a combustible sólo brillará con fuerza cuando le bombees aire vigorosamente; tu propia luz también está amortiguada y cerca de apagarse; bombéala con vigor, vale decir, involúcrate en la práctica espiritual, ilumina mejor tu mente y desparrama luz sobre todos aquellos que se te acerquen. Even if one does not attempt to seek God, one can at least seek peace, joy, happiness and independence (shanti, santosha, soukhyam and swatantra)? People nowadays do not seek these, nor do they try to learn how to get them! The top spins perpetually and has no rest; people too pine and labor forever and ever, and have no relief from the spinning. The only peace and joy they get now are momentary; here now, gone the next minute. Pain puts a stop to joy; joy is but the absence of pain Why must one live for years as a burden on earth, consuming so much of rice or wheat year after year, with no return in joy or peace to himself or others? The petromax light will shine bright only when you pump air vigorously; your light too is dim and well nigh out; pump vigorously, that is to say, engage yourself in spiritual practice and illumine your mind better and spread light on all who come near you. Cuando un rayo de luz cae sobre varios elementos de vidrio, la luz es esparcida en muchas diferentes direcciones. Algunas personas pueden pensar que esta luz provino de distintas fuentes, pero eso es incorrecto. Una única fuente de luz incidió sobre un gran número de vidrios de colores, y por eso pareció que estuviera compuesta de diferentes colores. Si la misma luz diera sobre el terreno, no podríamos verla porque sería obstruída y absorbida por el terreno. De la misma manera, si la resplandeciente Gracia del Señor se derrama sobre una persona sátvica (pura), él o ella resplandecerá brillantemente. Si la misma Gracia del Señor llega a una persona con cualidades rajásicas (agresivas), le hará desarrollar varios deseos mundanos. Si la misma Gracia alcanza a una persona con cualidades tamásicas (anodinas), no solamente le llegará sin
producir ningún efecto sino que también podría hacerle perder parte de su brillo. (Divino Discurso, Rosas de Verano en las Montañas Azules, 1976, Cap. 8)

When a ray of light falls on several pieces of glass, the light is scattered in many different directions. Some people may think that this light came from several sources. That is incorrect. The single source of light fell on a large number of coloured glasses, and hence appeared as if it is composed of different colours. If the same light falls on the ground, we would not be able to see the light, because the ground obstructs and absorbs the light. In the same manner, if the brilliant shining grace from the Lord falls on a sattwic (pure) person, he/she will shine brilliantly. If the same grace from the Lord, falls on a person with rajasic (aggressive) qualities, it will make him/her develop several desires of the world. If the same grace falls on a person with tamasic (dull) qualities, it will not only go through without having any effect, but also might lose some of its lustre. Las personas no creen en Dios pero creen en los periódicos y en todo lo que allí es publicado. Creen en cosas que no han visto y consideran como cierto los que sus oídos oyen. Una persona ciega está en la oscuridad y cuando ella niega que exista la luz ¿ necesitamos darle algún valor a su negación ? No ! Al contrario, tú ves un avión empinándose en el cielo, alguien te dice que es volado por un piloto, pero tú rehusas creerlo porque no puedes verlo desde donde estás. ¿Es esto apropiado ? ¿No es razonable suponer que un avión volando debe tener un piloto ? Si quieres verificarlo, debes acercarte al avión y ver al piloto ! Sería insensato negar su existencia observando desde tierra. De la misma forma, al ver el Universo debes creer firmemente en la existencia de Dios, y no negar Su presencia sólo porque no has podido Verlo
a Él.

People do not believe in God, but believe newspapers and all that is published therein. They believe in things they have not seen and consider what their ears hear to be true. A blind person is in darkness and when he denies there is light, do we need to attach any value to his denial? No! On the contrary, you see a plane zooming in the sky; someone tells you that it is flown by a pilot, but you refuse to believe because you do not see him from where you are. Is this appropriate? Isn’t it reasonable to guess that a flying plane must have a pilot? If you want to verify, you must get to the plane and see the pilot! It would be unwise to deny his existence standing on the ground. So too seeing the Universe, you must firmly believe in the existence of God, and not deny His presence because you have not been able to see Him.

Una joven madre pone a dormir a su bebé, y cuando el pequeño queda dormido ella se ocupa de otras tareas domésticas, pero en el interín su atención está en el bebé y sus pensamientos giran siempre en torno al momento en que el niño pueda despertar. Incluso si ella está inmersa en una tarea urgente y apremiante, su atención sigue en el bebé y tan pronto lo oye llorar acude corriendo. Ella no se detiene a analizar el tono (raga) y el «tempo» (tala) del llanto. De la misma manera en que la madre acude presurosa tan pronto oye el llanto de su bebé, así también cuando una persona invoca al Señor desde lo profundo de su corazón, el Señor responde instantáneamente y ayuda a cada devoto. Dios no pregunta qué sendero está siguiendo este devoto o qué Bhajans está entonando para llamarlo, etc., sino que busca
la sinceridad con la cual el devoto lo ha llamado. (Divino Discurso, Rosas de verano en las montañas azules, 1976 , cap 7 )

 

A young mother puts her baby to sleep and when the little one is asleep, she attends to other household works. But all the while her attention is on the baby, and her thoughts are always about when the baby would wake up. Even if she is engaged in an urgent and pressing work, her attention is on the baby, and as soon as she hears the cry, she comes running. She does not wait to analyse in what tune (raga) and tempo (tala) the baby is crying. Just as the mother comes running as soon as she hears the baby’s cry, so also, when a person cries to the Lord from the depths of their heart, the Lord responds instantly and helps every devotee. God does not ask what path this devotee is adopting or what bhajans are being sung to call Him, etc. But He looks for the sincerity with which the devotee has cried out.
