A todo el mundo lo atormenta la preocupación por lo que podría pasar con la vida, la reputación, la riqueza y la autoridad en el futuro inmediato; la inseguridad acecha a la patria, desgarrada por el odio y la avaricia. Muchos han perdido la tranquilidad de confiar en sí mismos; no tienen fe en su propia fuerza ni confianza en los demás. El hombre es la entidad más devaluada hoy en día; todo lo demás ha subido su valor. El hombre vale poco y puede ser descuidado negligentemente con toda impunidad. No conoce su propia grandeza ni su valor. No sabe cómo elevar su acto más pequeño para hacer realidad la Gracia del Señor. No conoce la alquimia por la cual cada fracaso o desilusión se puede transmutar en una oportunidad de oro para entregarse a sí mismo y construir un baluarte de Bhakthi (Devoción). Desperdicia un tiempo precioso en actividades
insignificantes y placeres triviales, que rebajan su dignidad y dañan su capacidad física y mental. Hay que tratar de estar a la altura de las grandes tradiciones de nuestros ancestros y los grandes hombres de nuestra madre patria. Worry about what might happen to life, reputation, wealth and authority in the very next moment is haunting everyone; insecurity stalks the land, torn by hatred and greed. People have lost the comfort of self-reliance; they have no faith in their own strength, and no confidence in others. Man is the most devalued entity today; everything else has risen in value. Man is cheap and he can be neglected with impunity. He knows not his own greatness or worth. He does not know how to elevate the smallest act of his into a means of realising the Grace of the Lord. He does not know the alchemy by which every failure or disappointment can be transmuted into a golden chance for self-surrender and for building up the bulwark of Bhakthi (devotion). He fritters away precious time in paltry activities and petty pleasures, which lower his self-respect and injure his physical and mental calibre. One must try to live up to the great traditions of one’s forefathers and

Dios es todopoderoso y puede derretir hasta los corazones de piedra, pero Él no se encargará de hacerlo. Los seres humanos tienen la fuerza de corregir su camino, adhiriendo a los objetivos de vida (Purusharthas — dharma, artha, kama, moksha), y Dios esperará que primero corrijan sus pensamientos por su propio esfuerzo y después busquen Su ayuda. Sus vidas deben ser como la de la aldeana que lleva un cántaro lleno de agua sobre su cabeza. Va charlando y haciendo bromas con otras mujeres mientras camina, pero cuida mucho la vasija con agua sobre su cabeza. De la misma manera, mientras vivimos en el mundo normal, tomando las cosas livianamente cuando vienen, deberemos tener mucho cuidado con los aspectos espirituales, sin olvidarlos ni ignorarlos. God is all-powerful and can melt even stony hearts, yet He will not undertake to do so. Human beings have the strength to correct their path by adhering to the goals of life (Purusharthas — dharma, artha, kama, moksha), and so God will expect that you should first set right your thoughts by your own efforts and then seek God’s help. Your life must be just like the village woman who carries a pot filled with water on her head. She would be talking and joking along with other women as she walks along. Yet would take great care of the pot of water on her head. Similarly, while we live in the normal world taking things lightly as they come, we will have to take great care of the spiritual aspects as well without forgetting or ignoring them. Formen un satsang (una buena compañía), con el que puedan reunirse e intercambiar verdades y conversaciones virtuosas, donde estudien libros sagrados y discursos sobre la gloria de Dios. ¿Por qué perder un tiempo precioso en escándalos sobre otros y críticas sobre el comportamiento de los demás? Cultivar la envidia, la malicia, el odio y la ira contra otros es un pasatiempo perverso que se vuelve en contra de uno. En todos habita la misma chispa divina; por eso criticar a otro equivale a criticar a la Divinidad. El juego de la vida vale la pena ser jugado y se vuelve interesante recién cuando hay límites y reglas que restringen y controlan. Imaginen un partido de fútbol sin reglas o límites en la cancha. Sería un caos, una lucha libre, un disturbio. Nadie podría decir quién gana ni cómo. La Rectitud (Dharma) y la Divinidad (Brahma) son los
límites del campo. Las virtudes luchan contra las tendencias viciosas. ¡Jueguen el juego, prestando atención a las advertencias de ‘falta’ y ‘fuera de juego’! (Discurso Divino, Escuela Secundaria para Niñas ‘Anantapur’, Día de la Escuela, 1966)

 

Form a satsang (holy company), where you meet and exchange truths and virtuous talk, where you study holy books and discourses on the glory of God. Why waste precious time in scandals about others and criticisms of others’ behaviour? Cultivating envy, malice, hatred and anger against others is an evil pastime that recoils on oneself. In everyone there is resident the self-same divine spark; so caviling at another is tantamount to caviling at Divinity. The game of life is worth playing and becomes interesting only when there are bounds and rules which limit and control. Imagine a game of football without any rules or bounds for the field. It will be chaos; it will be a free fight; it will be a riot. No one can say who wins and how. Righteousness (Dharma) and Divinity (Brahma) are the boundaries of the field. The virtues fight against the vicious tendencies. Play the game, paying heed to the warnings of ‘foul’ and ‘out’! (Divine Discourse, Anantapur

Hay ciertas acciones correctivas, sin las cuales es muy tonto esperar un Avatar, simplemente para les quite todo sufrimiento. En primer lugar, deben tratar de hacer buen uso de las fuerzas mentales y físicas con las que han sido dotados. Si son tan holgazanes como para no usar esas fortalezas que tienen, ¿qué van a hacer con las fortalezas divinas? Solamente porque Dios les dio suficiente comida, esperar que Dios deba ayudarlos a trasladar esa comida a sus estómagos es una idea de perezosos. Deben hacer buen uso de las manos, el paladar y la boca que Dios les ha dado. Si eligen no usar bien su cuerpo, su mente y su fuerza mental, entonces, ¡nadie los puede ayudar! There are certain essential remedial action, without doing which to expect an Avatar to simply remove all suffering is very foolish. Firstly, you should make an attempt to make good use of the mental and physical strengths that have been gifted to you. If you are so lazy as not to use the mental and physical strengths you have, what will you do with divine strengths? Just because God gave you enough food, for you to expect that God must help you in transferring this food to your stomach is indeed a lazy idea. You should make good use of God’s gifts of your hands, a palate, and a mouth. If you choose not to use your body, mind and mental strength in a good way, then, no one can help you!
