El hombre es una mezcla de daiva, danava y manava (dios, demonio y hombre). La maldad de la naturaleza danava puede superarse con daya (la cualidad de la misericordia y la caridad), la solidaridad y el sentimiento de fraternidad; el orgullo del aspecto daiva puede ser superado por dama (autocontrol), el desapego y la renuncia; el egoísmo del aspecto manava puede superarse siguiendo el dharma prescrito por los sabios imparciales que han sido purificados por la penitencia, y por la canalización de sus instintos e impulsos en campos fructíferos. Cuando estos tres están así sublimados, manava (hombre) se transforma en Madhava (Dios). Cada uno debe emprender este proceso de purificación, descubriendo sus defectos y fallas, y realizar el camino hacia el éxito. Si tienes daya, dama y dharma (solidaridad, autocontrol y rectitud), eso te llevará más allá del reino de las tres cualidades de
la mente; no hay necesidad entonces de obtener un Nombre o mantra del Gurú y repetirlo. (Discurso divino, 24 de julio de 1964).

 

Man is a mixture of daiva, danava and manava (god, demon and man). The wickedness of the danava nature can be overcome by daya (the quality of mercy and charity), sympathy and the feeling of fellowship; the pride of the daiva aspect can be overcome by dama (self-control), detachment, and renunciation; the egoism of the manava aspect can be overcome by following dharma prescribed by the impartial sages who have been purified by penance, and by canalising their instincts and impulses into fruitful fields. When these three are thus sublimated, manava (man) is transformed into Madhava (God). Each one must take up this process of purification, by discovering his faults and failings and realise the road to success. If you have daya, dama and dharma (sympathy, self-control and righteousness), that will take you beyond the realm of the three qualities of the mind; there is no need then for getting a Name or mantra from the Guru and repeating it. Una vez que te hayas aferrado a un Gurú, déjaselo todo a él, incluso el deseo de alcanzar la liberación. Él te conoce más que tú mismo. Él te dirigirá tanto como sea bueno para ti. Tu deber es solo obedecer y sofocar la tendencia a alejarte de Él. Entonces no hay necesidad de obtener un Nombre o un mantra del Gurú y repetirlo. El mandato del Gurú o del Señor es incluso más importante que el Nombre del Gurú o el Nombre del Señor. De qué sirve la repetición del Nombre, sin purificar al mismo tiempo los impulsos mediante la observancia de Sus mandamientos. Debes hacer el mejor uso del Gurú, así como debes hacerlo de este mismo Puttaparthi. Debes adquirir aquí las habilidades para ganar shanti y santosha (paz mental y bienaventuranza), la gracia de Dios, las lecciones de las prácticas espirituales y los
frutos del satsang (compañía de los santos); no desperdicies tu energía ni tu tiempo, buscando la satisfacción sensorial en una compañía impía. (Discurso divino, 24 de julio de 1964).

 

Once you have secured a Guru, leave everything to him, even the desire to achieve liberation. He knows you more than you yourself ever can. He will direct you as much as is good for you. Your duty is only to obey and to smother the tendency to drift away from Him. There is no need then for getting a Name or mantra from the Guru and repeating it. The command of the Guru or the Lord is even more important than the Name of the Guru or the Name of the Lord. Of what use is the repetition of the Name, without at the same time purifying the impulses by the observance of His commands. You must make the best use of the Guru, as you must of this Puttaparthi itself. You must acquire here the skills for winning shanti and santosha (peace of mind and bliss), the grace of God, the lessons of spiritual practices, and the fruits of satsang (company of the holy); do not fritter away your energy and time, seeking sensory satisfaction in ungodly company. (Divine

A este día se le llama Vyasa Poornima. Es un día santo que debe celebrarse con oración y contrición. Solo eso puede limpiar el corazón, no el festejar o ayunar, lo que solo afecta al cuerpo. El hecho de que el Sabio Vyasa esté asociado con este día o de que el Señor Rama o Krishna estén conectados con algún otro día es simplemente una oportunidad para marcar el día como extraordinariamente importante, en que algo sagrado tiene que hacerse. Hoy es luna llena, momento en que la luna resplandece sin ningún obstáculo; en que la luz de la luna es brillante, fresca y completa. La mente del hombre se compara con la luna, porque es tan rebelde como la luna con su oscilación entre el resplandor y la oscuridad; este día, la mente también tiene que ser brillante, refulgente y fresca. El Sabio Vyasa es el Lokaguru (maestro de todo el mundo): es
la Refulgencia Divina. Pero, incluso Vyasa solo puede mostrarte el camino. Tienes que atravesarlo solo. (Discurso divino, 24 de julio de 1964).

 

This day is called Vyasa Poornima. It is a holy day which must be celebrated with prayer and contrition. That alone can cleanse the heart, not feasting or fasting, which affect only the body. The fact that Sage Vyasa is associated with this day or that Lord Rama or Krishna is connected with some other day is merely an opportunity to mark the day as outstandingly important, when something holy has to be done. It is a full moon today, when the moon shines without any hindrance; when moonlight is bright, cool and full. The mind of man is compared to the moon, for it is as wayward as the moon with its swing from brightness to darkness; this day, the mind too has to be bright, effulgent and cool. Sage Vyasa is the Lokaguru (teacher to the entire world): he is Divine Effulgence. But, even Vyasa can only show you the road. You have to traverse it alone. (Divine Discourse, Jul 24, 1964).

Vean a Dios en todos los que conocen; vean a Dios en todo lo que realizan. Su Misterio es inmanente en todo lo material e inmaterial; de hecho, se ha descubierto que no hay materia o material. ¡Es todo Dios, una expresión de Su Misterio! Obtengan alegría de las fuentes de alegría dentro de ustedes y fuera de ustedes; avancen, no se queden quietos ni retrocedan. Cada minuto debe marcar un paso adelante. Regocíjense de que les sea dado reconocer a Dios en todo. Den la bienvenida a todas las posibilidades de cantar Su Gloria, escuchar Sus relatos y compartir Su presencia con los demás. Dios tiene Sus manos en todas las labores, Sus pies en todas las altitudes, Sus ojos más allá de todos los horizontes, y Su rostro ante cada rostro. El Kalpavriksha (árbol que cumple los deseos) en el corazón humano está siendo sofocado por la vegetación salvaje y las zarzas tupidas.
Eliminen esta maleza asfixiante y el árbol crecerá y dará frutos. (Discurso divino, 9 de marzo de 1968).

 

See God in everyone you meet; see God in everything you handle. His Mystery is immanent in all that is material and non-material; as a matter of fact, it has been discovered that there is no matter or material. It is all God, an expression of His Mystery! Derive joy from the springs of joy within you and without you; advance, do not stand still or recede. Every minute must mark a forward step. Rejoice that it is given to you to recognise God in all. Welcome all chances to sing His Glory, to hear His chronicle, and to share His presence with others. God has His hands in all handiworks, His feet on all altitudes, His eyes beyond all horizons, and His face before every face. The Kalpavriksha (Wish-fulfilling tree) in the human heart is being suffocated by wild greenery and bushy briars. Remove this stifling undergrowth and the tree will grow and yield fruit. (Divine Discourse, Mar 9, 1968).
