Una vez, cuando Narada preguntó a Sri Ramachandra sobre la naturaleza y características de sus servidores y de los aspirantes espirituales, Él respondió: «Están llenos de amor; respaldan siempre la rectitud; dicen la verdad; sus corazones se derriten de misericordia; están desprovistos de maldad; evitan el pecado; sus naturaleza tiene bases firmes; están dispuestos a renunciar gustosamente a todo; comen con moderación; se dedican a hacer el bien a los demás; no tienen egoísmo; no están preocupados por dudas. No prestan oídos a la adulación, pero están listos a escuchar alabanzas a la buena naturaleza de otros. Tienen un carácter hermoso, fuerte y sagrado. Aspirantes espirituales son aquellos que se dedican a adquirir estas cualidades. Ahora te hablaré de aquellos que me son queridos: todo aquel que se dedique a la repetición del
nombre, a austeridades y votos; todo aquel que tenga autocontrol y disciplina; todo aquel que tenga fe, paciencia, camaradería, amabilidad y alegría, como así también amor puro hacia Mí. Una persona así me es querida». (Prema Vahini, Capítulo 48)

 

When Narada once asked Sri Ramachandra about the nature and characteristics of His servants and spiritual aspirants, He answered, “They are full of love; they always stand by righteousness; they speak the truth; their hearts melt with mercy; they are devoid of wrong; they avoid sin; their nature is well-founded; they will renounce everything gladly; they eat in moderation; they are engaged in doing good to others; they have no selfishness; they aren’t worried by doubts. They won’t lend their ears to flattery but are eager to listen to the praise of the good nature of others. They have beautiful, strong, and holy character. Spiritual aspirants are those who endeavour to acquire such qualities. Now I shall tell you about those who are dear to Me: Anyone who is engaged in repetition of the name, penance, and vows, anyone who has self-control and discipline, anyone who has faith, patience, comradeship, kindness and joy as well as
unalloyed love towards Me — such a person is dear to Me.” – Prema Vahini, Ch 48

Los demonios (danavas) son aquellos que pisotean el amor y consideran importantes las cualidades inferiores, mientras que los humanos (manavas) son aquellos que consideran el amor como la única cualidad a fomentar, y las cualidades inferiores como serpientes a ser destruidas. ¿Son humanos quienes no tienen ninguna dulzura y se esfuerzan por suprimir las ansias de inmortalidad? ¡Suya es la naturaleza de los demonios, aunque la forma sea humana! Pues el carácter, no la forma, es lo principal. ¿Cómo podrían aquellos dotados de forma humana llamarse humanos, si carecen de amabilidad y justicia, y tienen la naturaleza de los demonios? Los humanos se dedican a tiernos y dulces actos de cariño, rectitud, amor y verdad; atestiguan la posibilidad de tomar conciencia de nuestra inmortalidad y ponerla de manifiesto. Su buena naturaleza resplandece en sus rostros como bienaventuranza (ananda). Sin bondad,
aunque estemos ebrios de alegría, los rostros indicarán solo el destructivo fuego del demonio; no brillarán con la gracia de la dicha espiritual. (Prema Vahini, Capítulo 47)

 

The demons (danavas) are those who trample on love and consider inferior qualities as important, while the humans (manavas) are those who consider love as the only quality to be fostered and inferior qualities as snakes to be destroyed. Are they humans who have no sweetness in them and who endeavour to suppress the craving for immortality? Theirs is the nature of demons, though the form is human! For, the character and not the form is primary. How can those with human form be called humans if they have no kindness and no rightness, and if they have the nature of demons? Humans engage in soft and sweet deeds of kindness, rightness, love, and truth; they are witnesses to the possibility of realising and manifesting one’s immortality. Their good nature is resplendent on their faces as bliss (ananda). Without goodness, even if one is infatuated with joy, the faces will indicate only the destructive fire of the demon; it will not shine with the grace
of spiritual bliss. -Prema Vahini, Ch 47.

La paz es la característica de la mente de los humanos. Es su cualidad innata. Para buscar la paz, no es necesario ir a ninguna parte. Así como el oro y la plata yacen ocultos bajo la tierra, y las perlas y el coral bajo el mar, la paz y la alegría yacen ocultas en las actividades de la mente. En nuestro deseo de adquirir estos tesoros escondidos, si nos sumergimos y dirigimos hacia dentro las actividades mentales, nos llenamos de amor. Solo puede llamarse humano quien se ha llenado así de amor, y vive en la luz de ese amor. Aquellos desprovistos de amor son demonios, monstruos y subhumanos. Recuerden: la sagrada cualidad del amor no dejará de manifestarse en ocasiones; estará siempre presente, sin cambios. Es una e indivisible. Aquellos saturados de amor son incapaces de rencor, egoísmo, injusticia, maldad o delito. Están dotados de verdad en el habla. (Prema Vahini, Capítulo 47)

 

Peace is the characteristic of the mind of humans. That is its innate quality. In searching for peace there is no need to go anywhere else. Just as gold and silver lie hidden under the earth, and pearl and coral under the sea, peace and joy lie hidden in the activities of the mind. Desirous of acquiring these hidden treasures, if one dives and turns mental activities inward, one becomes full of love. Only one who has so filled oneself with love and who lives in the light of that love can be called human. Those devoid of love are demons, monsters, and subhumans. Remember, the holy quality of love will not remain unmanifested off and on; it will be ever present, without change. It is one and indivisible. Those saturated with love are incapable of spite, selfishness, injustice, wrong, and misconduct. Good people are full of love (prema). Their hearts are springs of mercy. They are endowed with truth in speech. (Prema Vahini, Ch 47)

El amor lo puede conquistar todo. El amor desinteresado, puro, incontaminado, conduce al ser humano hacia Dios. El amor egoísta y restringido nos ata al mundo. Incapaces de comprender el puro y sagrado amor, los seres humanos son hoy presa de interminables preocupaciones, causadas por el apego a los objetos mundanos. Nuestro principal deber es entender la verdad acerca del Principio del Amor. Una vez que una persona haya comprendido la naturaleza del amor, ya no se extraviará. Los diversos contextos en que hoy se utiliza la palabra amor no tienen relación con el auténtico significado del amor. El afecto entre madre e hijo, o entre esposo y esposa, es incidental a cierta relación temporaria, y no es en absoluto verdadero amor. El auténtico amor no tiene principio ni fin. Existe en las tres categorías del tiempo: pasado, presente y futuro. Solo este es el verdadero amor que puede llenar al ser humano de
dicha perdurable.

 

Love can conquer anything. Selfless, pure, unalloyed love leads the human being to God. Selfish and constricted love binds one to the world. Unable to comprehend the pure and sacred love, human beings today are prey to endless worries because of attachment to worldly objects. One’s primary duty is to understand the truth about the Love Principle. Once a person understands the nature of love, he or she will not go astray. The various contexts in which the word love is used today have no relation to the true meaning of love. The affection, between a mother and child or between a husband and wife is incidental to a certain temporary relationship and is not real love at all. True love has neither a beginning nor an end. It exists in all the three categories of time—past, present and future. That alone is true love which can fill the human being with enduring bliss.
