Jesus was compassion (karuna) come in human form. He spread the spirit of compassion and conferred solace on the distressed and the suffering. Good works always provoke the wicked. But one should not falter or fear when opposition obstructs. The challenge gives joy, it evokes hidden sources of strength and brings down grace to reinforce the effort. Pleasure springs during the interval between two pains. One has to struggle with difficulties in order to taste the delight of victory. Jesus was the target for many mighty obstacles and He braved them all. Jesus was love incarnate. He manifested love in the form of service. Jesus wore himself out in such service. The heart full of compassion is truly the temple of God. Develop compassion. Serve food to the hungry, solace to the forlorn, and consolation to the sick and the suffering. Live in Love. Be good, do good and see good. This is the way to God. (Divine Discourse, Dec 25, 1981).

Jesús era puro y sagrado en forma suprema. Olvidar las enseñanzas de Jesús y profesar amor por Él no es amor en absoluto. Todos deben recordar: «Dios es Uno. El Amor es Dios. Vivan en Amor». No sirve de nada simplemente invocar el nombre de Jesús y rezarle sin tener en cuenta Su mensaje más vital: «Dios está en todos. No injurien a nadie. No le hagan daño a nadie». Este fue el mensaje más grande de Jesús. Jesús sacrificó su vida para establecer «Paz en la tierra y buena voluntad entre todos los seres humanos». Sin paz, la humanidad no puede progresar en ninguna esfera, ya sea material, espiritual o moral. Lo que el mundo necesita hoy es la fuerza redentora y unificadora del amor que Jesús brindó – amor que continuamente se expande y abarca a más y más personas. La humanidad debe convertirse en una sola familia. Entonces el mundo se
convertirá en un paraíso. Por eso, de hoy en adelante, abandonen las ideas estrechas sobre su religión, nación, casta o credo y desarrollen una perspectiva amplia. Les deseo a todos felicidad. (Discurso divino, 25 de diciembre de 1985).

 

Jesus was supremely pure and sacred. To forget Jesus’ teachings and to profess love for Him is no love at all. You must all remember: «God is One. Love is God. Live in Love.» There is no use in merely invoking the name of Jesus and praying to Him without regard to His most vital message: «God is in everyone. Do not revile anyone. Do not cause harm to anyone.» This was Jesus’ greatest message. Jesus sacrificed his life to establish «Peace on earth and goodwill amongst all human beings”. Without peace, mankind cannot achieve progress in any sphere, be it material, spiritual or moral. What the world needs today is the redeeming and unifying force of love that Jesus gave – love which continually expands and embraces more and more people. Mankind should become one family. The world will then become a paradise. Hence today onwards, give up narrow ideas regarding your religion, nation, caste or creed, and develop a broad outlook. I wish you all
happiness. (Divine Discourse, Dec 25, 1985).

Mucho más beneficioso que honrar a los grandes es la práctica de amarlos. La alabanza y el elogio los elevarán a un pedestal inalcanzable. El amor une a un corazón con otro. La gratitud por la inspiración y la instrucción recibidas debe unir a los corazones en el amor. La celebración de la Navidad no debe incluir algunos villancicos, retablos, árboles artificiales y Santa Claus. Debe empaparse en la resolución de practicar al menos algunas lecciones que Jesús nos enseñó. La primera necesidad es la fe en Dios y en nuestra propia Naturaleza Divina. La alegría espiritual, la apreciación y la visión (Darshan) de Dios deben convertirse en el aliento natural de la vida y en el propósito mismo de sus existencias. Jesús enseñó por precepto y ejemplo a la humanidad el principio Átmico que es la fuente eterna de
bienaventuranza. Hagan lo que hagan, donde sea que estén, como sea que les vaya, estén convencidos de que siempre están en Dios. Deben saber que todo es Divino y que todos los actos son ofrendas para la gloria de Dios. De esta manera, hagan que sus vidas sean fructíferas. (Discurso divino, 25 de diciembre de 1982).

 

Far more beneficial than honouring the great is the practice of loving them. Praise and eulogy will raise them to an unreachable pedestal. Love binds one heart to another. Gratitude for the inspiration and instruction received must bind hearts in love. Celebration of Christmas should not include some carols, tableaux, artificial trees and Santa Claus. It must be soaked in the resolution to practice at least a few lessons Jesus taught us. The very first need is faith in God and in our own Divine Nature. Spiritual joy, appreciation, and the vision (Darshan) of God must become the natural breath of life and the very purpose of your existence. Jesus taught by precept and example to mankind the Atmic principle which is the eternal source of bliss. Whatever you do, wherever you are, however you fare, be convinced that you are ever in God. Know that all is Divine and all acts are offerings to the glory of God. In this manner make your lives fruitful. (Divine
