Todos ustedes deben llegar a ser héroes: osados y valientes. Prepárense desde hoy para ese rol. Dentro de ustedes hay muchos animales: el perro, el zorro, el asno, el lobo, etc. Supriman las tendencias de todas esas criaturas, y hagan brillar las cualidades humanas del amor y la amistad. Comiencen el cultivo de la virtudes; esto es muy importante y beneficioso, y les dará auténtica ananda (bienaventuranza). Es la esencia de todo conocimiento, la culminación de todo aprendizaje. Traten a cada cual como a uno de los suyos, y si no pueden hacerles ningún bien, desistan de causarles daño alguno. Enciendan la lámpara del amor dentro del nicho de su corazón, y las aves nocturnas de la codicia y la envidia volarán lejos, incapaces de soportar la luz. El amor los hace humildes; hagan una reverencia cuando vean la grandeza y la gloria. Una persona irreverente está infectada de
egoísmo de la peor clase. Recuerden: el ser humano es el único ser que puede reconocer y reverenciar lo grande y lo glorioso. (Divino Discurso, 3 de marzo de 1958)

 

You must all become heroes – adventurous and bold; prepare for that role from now on. Inside you there are many animals: the dog, fox, donkey, wolf, etc. Suppress the tendencies of all these creatures and encourage the human qualities of love and friendship to shine forth. Begin the cultivation of virtues; this is very important, beneficial and will give you real bliss (ananda). It is the essence of all knowledge, the culmination of all learning. Treat everyone as your very own and even if you cannot do them any good, desist from causing them any injury. Burn the lamp of love inside the niche of your heart, and the nocturnal birds of greed and envy will fly away, unable to bear the light. Love makes you humble; bend and bow when you see greatness and glory. An unbending person is infected with egoism of the worst type. Remember, man is the only being that can recognise and revere the great and the glorious. (Divine Discourse, March 03, 1958)

La gente sufre porque tiene deseos insensatos, se desespera por hacerlos realidad y fracasa. Adjudica demasiado valor al mundo objetivo, y es solo cuando aumenta el apego que ustedes sufren dolor y tristeza . Si miraran a la naturaleza y a todos los objetos creados, con una perspectiva derivada de la Visión Interior, entonces el apego se haría a un lado aunque permaneciese el esfuerzo. También verían todo mucho más claro y con una gloria envuelta en Divinidad y esplendor. El apego a la naturaleza tiene límites, pero el apego al Señor – que desarrollan cuando se abre el ojo interno – no tiene límites. Disfruten de esa Realidad. El Señor es el Poder Inmanente en todo. La luna se refleja en un recipiente, siempre que este contenga agua. Así también el Señor puede ser visto claramente en tu corazón, siempre que tengas en él el agua del amor («Prema»). Si el
Señor no se refleja en tu corazón, eso solo significa que tú no Lo amas lo suficiente. (Divino Discurso, 2 febrero 1958).

 

People suffer because they have unreasonable desires, they pine to fulfill them, and they fail. They attach too much value to the objective world. It is only when attachment increases that you suffer pain and grief. If you looked upon nature and all created objects with the insight derived from the Inner Vision, then attachment would slide away, though effort remained. You would also see everything much clearer and with a glory suffused with Divinity and splendour. Attachment to nature has limits, but attachment to the Lord that you develop when the inner eye opens, has no limit. Enjoy that Reality. The Lord is the Immanent Power in everything. The moon is reflected in a pot, provided it has water. So too, the Lord can be clearly seen in your heart, provided you have the water of love (prema) in it. When the Lord is not reflected in your heart, it only means you don’t love Him enough. (Divine Discourse, Feb 2, 1958)

La madre de Gandhi era una estricta disciplinaria y de corazón muy puro. Como reza el refrán: «Yatha Raja, Tatha Praja» («De tal rey, tales súbditos»). Ella tenía una sirviente de nombre Rambha, quien compartía los mismos valores con su patrona y cuidaba de los niños con amor y celo. Un día el pequeño Gandhi fue corriendo a Rambha y le dijo que sentía miedo. Ella le contestó: «Mi querido, ¿por qué temer si el todoprotector Ramachandra está siempre con nosotros ? Recita el nombre de Rama cada vez que te sobrevenga el miedo». A partir de entonces Gandhi entonó el nombre de Rama, y como todos ustedes saben, continuó haciéndolo hasta su último suspiro. ¿Podríamos encontrar hoy mujeres de tan noble corazón ? ¡Observen el impacto que ella significó en el pequeño niño ! Fue justamente
gracias a tales mujeres y madres de noble corazón que tantos niños siguieran el sendero de la rectitud. (Divino Discurso, 19 noviembre 2000).

 

Gandhi’s mother was a strict disciplinarian and very pure hearted. As the saying goes, “Yatha Raja, Tatha Praja” (As is the king, so are the subjects). She had a maidservant named Rambha, who followed her values and looked after the children with love and care. One day, little Gandhi came running to Rambha and told that he was haunted by fear. Rambha told him, “My dear one, where is the need to fear when the all-protecting Ramachandra is with us always.? Recite the name of Rama whenever you are fear- stricken.” From then onwards, Gandhi chanted the name of Rama, and as you all know, he chanted it until his last breath. Could we ever find such noble-hearted women today? See the impact she had on the little child! It was because of such noble hearted women and mothers that so many children took to the path of righteousness. (Divine Discourse, Nov 19, 2000)

Sé cuidadoso también con tu salud física, y satisface las necesidades de la naturaleza : hay que darle al auto el combustible que requiere. De otra manera, tu cabeza podría vacilar y tus ojos ver borrosamente de puro cansancio. ¿Cómo podrían ser estabilizados en un cuerpo débil los pensamientos referidos al Señor ? Solo que no debes olvidar el propósito de este cuerpo cuando te estás ocupando de él. A una máquina vial se la provee de aceite y otros tipos de combustible, ¿pero por qué se la mantiene en buen estado ? A efectos de que pueda reparar el camino, ¿no ? De la misma manera, recuerda que tú has encarnado para que pudieras tomar conciencia de este ciclo de nacimientos y muertes. Por tal razón, utiliza al cuerpo como un instrumento. El ave que vuela de acá para allá, más y más alto, tiene que
finalmente detenerse sobre un árbol para descansar. Así también, hasta los más ricos y los más poderosos buscan descanso y paz («Shanti»). La paz sólo puede ser obtenida en un lugar: el de la realidad interior. (Divino Discurso, 23 febrero 1958).

 

Be careful about your physical health too. Satisfy the demands of nature; the car must be given the petrol that it needs. Otherwise, your head might reel and your eyes might get blurred through sheer exhaustion. How could thoughts of the Lord be stabilised in a weak frame? Only, do not forget the purpose of this body when you are tending to it. A road-roller is fed with oil and other types of fuel. But why is it kept in good trim? In order to mend the road, is it not? Similarly, remember that you have come embodied so that you might realise this cycle of birth and death. For that sake, use the body as an instrument. Flying hither and thither, higher and higher, the bird has at last to perch on a tree for rest. So too, even the richest and the most powerful seek rest and peace (shanti). Peace can be got only in one shop – inner reality. (Divine Discourse, Feb 23, 1958)
