Queridos estudiantes, en primer lugar, hagan brillar sus hogares, complaciendo a sus padres. No sean arrogantes con ellos, solo porque ustedes han estudiado algunas cosas. El siguiente consejo, que daban los gurúes durante las asambleas en los retiros, era el mismo. «La madre y la madre patria son más dignas de reverencia que los Cielos. Sus padres sacrifican sus comodidades, e incluso sus necesidades, para asegurar el progreso de ustedes. Es su deber venerarlos y hacerlos felices. Ocúpense de acciones que los demás respeten, no en acciones de las cuales tengan que avergonzarse. Honren a los mayores. Amen su tierra natal». Ellos exhortaban así. «Consideren a la madre como Dios. Consideren al padre como Dios. Consideren al maestro como Dios. Consideren al huésped como Dios». Sigan esta cuádruple exhortación con total fe en su validez, obtengan de ella bienaventuranza, e
inspiren a los demás con su ejemplo, para que la madre patria pueda progresar y prosperar. Cumplan este Mi deseo, con Mis bendiciones. (Divino Discurso, 22 de noviembre de 1986)

 

Dear Students, first render your homes bright by pleasing your parents. Do not be arrogant towards them because you have studied a few things. The advice given by gurus during convocations in hermitages was the same – «Mother and Motherland are more worthy of reverence than Heaven. Your parents are sacrificing their comforts and even necessities in order to ensure your progress. It is your duty to revere them and make them happy. Engage yourselves in acts that others will respect and not in acts of which you feel ashamed. Honour the elders. Love your native land.» They would exhort: “Consider the Mother as God. Consider the Father as God. Consider the Teacher as God. Consider the Guest as God.” Follow this fourfold exhortation with full faith in its validity, derive bliss therefrom and inspire others by your example, so that the Motherland may progress and prosper. La educación debe revelar el camino que le permite a uno aprovechar el manantial latente de la Divinidad interior, sin enredarse con la masa de objetos creados. Debe hacer hincapié en la transformación espiritual como algo más fundamental que incluso la elevación moral. El verdadero signo de una persona educada está en su actitud de igualdad hacia todos. Deben ver a la sociedad como una manifestación de la Divinidad. La educación no conduce directamente de la naturaleza al Atma omnipresente. Los conduce a estudiar la naturaleza con la perspectiva unificadora Átmica. Cuando los poderes de la naturaleza están sujetos a un estrecho egoísmo, se vuelven en contra de ustedes como una plaga. Cuando son reverenciados como revelaciones del Atma, se vuelven beneficiosos para ustedes. La educación los equipa con este conocimiento. El proceso por el cual se privan de su libertad y
se atan a la red de deseos, nunca puede ser educación. La verdadera educación debe apuntar a garantizar la paz y la estabilidad a través del precepto y práctica continua de la unidad en la creación. (Divino Discurso del 22 de noviembre de 1986)

 

Education must reveal the path that enables one to tap the dormant spring of Divinity within, without getting entangled with the mass of created objects. It must lay stress on spiritual transformation as more fundamental than even moral uplift. The real sign of an educated person is in their attitude of sameness towards all. They must see the society as a manifestation of Divinity. Education does not lead from nature to all-pervading Atma directly. It leads you to study nature, with the unifying Atmic outlook. When the powers of Nature are subjected to narrow selfishness, they recoil on you as plague. When they are revered as revelations of the Atma, they become beneficial to you. Education equips you with this insight. The process by which you forego your freedom and are bound in the net of desire can never be education. True education must aim at ensuring peace and stability through continuous precept and practice of unity in creation. (Divine

Hoy en día la gente quiere vivir feliz pero no quiere llevar una vida ideal. Los padres, por ejemplo, no dan un buen ejemplo a los niños. En la era moderna, el padre no instruye adecuadamente al niño y el niño no presta atención a las palabras de la madre. Allí donde hay buenos hijos llevando una vida piadosa, los padres los reprenden diciendo: «¿Te has vuelto loco? No participes en los Bhajans o en el servicio social». Los padres que se comportan de esta manera, son como Hiranyakashipu que no podía tolerar que su hijo adorara a Hari. Today people want to live happily but not lead ideal lives. Parents, for instance, do not set a good example to the children. In the modern age, the father does not instruct the child properly and the child does not pay heed to the words of the mother. Where there are some good children, leading a pious life, the fathers rebuke them saying, «Have you gone crazy? Don’t take part in Bhajans or social service.» Parents who behave in this manner are like Hiranyakashipu, who could not tolerate his son worshipping Hari. Today we have many parents like Dhritarashtra and Hiranyakashipu, but few who encourage their children to adhere to righteousness. Children today do not relish edifying works like the Ramayana, Mahabharata and the Bhagavatham. They waste their time on reading trash. Parents should see that children do not read bad books. If the nation has to prosper, improvement must start with the parents. (Divine Discourse, Nov 19, 1995)

Estudien la vida de nuestras grandes mujeres que fueron modelos de paciencia, fortaleza, compasión y sacrificio. Desde la antigüedad, el aspecto femenino de lo Divino es adorado. Los Vedas declaran: Allí donde las mujeres son honradas y apreciadas, la Divinidad está presente en toda su potencia. Desafortunadamente, hoy en día los hombres consideran degradante honrar a las mujeres. Esto está mal y es un signo de ignorancia. Los hombres deben otorgar un lugar honorable a las mujeres. La mujer es la Diosa de la Prosperidad de su hogar (Grihalakshmi), la esposa virtuosa (Dharmapatni), la señora de la casa (Illalu) y la mejor mitad (Ardhangi). La gente se regodea con los títulos insignificantes que les son conferidos, pero estos títulos más elevados otorgados a las mujeres, son válidos para todos los tiempos. Un hogar sin una mujer es una jungla. Los hombres no deben hacer llorar y

Study the lives of our great women who were role-models of patience, fortitude, compassion and sacrifice. Since ancient times, the feminine aspect of the Divine is worshipped. Vedas declare: Where women are honoured and esteemed, there Divinity is present in full potency. Unfortunately, today men consider it demeaning to honour women. This is wrong and is a sign of ignorance. Men should give a honourable place to women. The woman is the Goddess of Prosperity for her home (Grihalakshmi), virtuous spouse (Dharmapatni), mistress of the house (Illalu) and the better half (Ardhangi). People gloat over petty titles conferred on them, but these highest titles conferred on women are valid for all times. A home without a woman is a jungle. Men should not make women weep and shed tears. A home where a woman sheds tears will be ruined. Women too, should endeavor to develop qualities of empathy, compassion, love and sacrifice. They should change themselves and
help transform men and children. (Divine Discourse, Nov 19, 1995)
