En las Escrituras se describe a Dios como Raso vai sah: «Él es la dulce esencia». ¿Cómo podría la dulzura volverse amarga? La Divinidad es un espejo inmaculadamente limpio; en él ustedes ven su propio reflejo. Si son propensos al terror, el reflejo que vean los aterrorizará. Si tienen propensiones suaves e inofensivas, el reflejo será tierno y blando. No culpen a Dios, como tienden a hacerlo a menudo. Cuando todo anda bien, dicen que Dios se ha aproximado a ustedes; cuando algo sale mal, dicen que Dios los ha abandonado y se ha ido lejos. Él no se desplaza cerca ni lejos. La distancia entre Él y ustedes es la misma que la distancie entre ustedes y Él. Él está en todas partes. Está siempre en sus corazones. Reconózcanlo allí; percíbanlo como lo más cercano a ustedes. Él es su propio Yo Mismo; ni terrible ni tierno,
simplemente es. (Discurso Divino, 30 de mayo de 1974)

 

God is described in the scriptural texts as, Raso vai sah – «He is the sweet essence.» How can sweetness ever become bitter? Godhead is a spotlessly clean mirror; you see in it your own reflection. When you have terror-striking propensities, the reflection you see will strike terror in you. When you have soft and harmless propensities, the reflection will be tender and soft. Do not lay the blame on God, as you are often prone to doing! When everything goes right, you say that God has come close to you; when something goes wrong, you say that God has deserted you and gone afar! He does not move far or near. The distance from Him to you is as much as the distance from you to Him. He is everywhere. He always is in your heart. Recognise Him there; realise Him as the closest and nearest to you. He is your own Self, neither terrible nor tender, but, simply is. (Divine Discourse, May 30, 1974)

Entre los maestros y los estudiantes hay un vínculo perenne de puro amor. Los estudiantes pueden ganarse el corazón de cualquier maestro, y también un maestro puede ganarse el corazón de los estudiantes. Para ser amados, ustedes deben amar primero a los demás. La base de la cultura india es «Hablen con la verdad y practiquen la conducta correcta». Sean humildes. Puede que no siempre agraden, pero siempre pueden hablar agradablemente. A veces, los maestros necesitan ser estríctos. Séanlo. Recuerden que Dios puede ser más duro que un diamante, cuando la situación lo demanda. De lo contrario, es más blando que la manteca. Los maestros comprenden muy bien esta naturaleza divina, y deben ejemplificarla en su conducta. Para ganarse la confianza de los estudiantes, los maestros deben relacionarse con amor, señalar sin temor sus errores, y conducirlos por la buena
senda. Sólo así los estudiantes seguirán el buen camino y corregirán sus errores. Para el progreso y la prosperidad de la nación, cada maestro debe amar a sus estudiantes y moldear su carácter. (Discurso Divino, 21 de noviembre de 2001)

 

There is a perennial bond of pure love between teachers and students. Students can win over any teacher’s heart, and a teacher can win over students’ hearts as well. To be loved, you must love others first. The basis of Indian culture is, “Speak truth, practice right conduct.” Be humble. You may not always oblige, but you can always speak obligingly! At times, teachers may need to be strict. Be so. Remember, God can be harder than a diamond when the situation demands. Otherwise, He is softer than butter. Teachers very well understand this Divine nature and must exemplify it in their behaviour too. To take students into their confidence, teachers must approach them with love and fearlessly point out their mistakes and lead them on the right path. Only then students will follow the righteous path and correct their mistakes. For the progress and prosperity of the nation, every teacher must love their students and mould their

La gente de Kerala sigue las indicaciones del noble emperador Bali, incluso hoy en día. Es por eso que el estado se ha desarrollado de diversas maneras. No hay carencias de alimentos ni facilidades para una vida feliz, en Kerala. Por supuesto, en épocas recientes han tenido lugar cambios en las aspiraciones y el estilo de vida de la gente, debido al impacto del Kali Yuga (la era actual). Sin embargo, el núcleo de sus corazones y sentimientos sigue siendo el mismo. Aún hoy, ellos siguen el mandamiento védico «Hablen con la verdad y sigan la rectitud (Sathyam vada, dharmam chara)». Ellos respetan a los mayores y les sirven con amor y afecto. ¿Cuál puede ser la razón de esto? ¡El amor a Dios! Es una tierra donde aún hoy existe el amor a Dios. Aquellos que tienen amor a Dios, desarrollan naturalmente temor al pecado. En consecuencia, esas personas tendrán un alto grado
de moralidad en la sociedad, lo cual es muy importante para el funcionamiento ordenado de la misma. No es suficiente con celebrar el festival de Onam con fervor religioso y devoción. Ustedes tienen que vivir a la altura de estas expectativas del noble emperador Bali. (Discurso Divino, 2 de septiembre de 2009)

 

The people of Kerala follow the commands of the noble Emperor Bali even today. That is why the state has developed in several ways. There is no dearth of food and amenities for a happy living in Kerala. Of course, changes in people’s aspirations and lifestyle are taking place in recent times due to the impact of the Kali Yuga (the present era). But the core of their hearts and feelings remains the same. They still follow the vedic injunctions “Speak truth and follow righteousness (Sathyam vada, dharmam chara).” They respect elders and serve them with love and affection. What could be the reason for this? Love for God! It is a land where love for God exists even today. Those who have love for God naturally develop fear of sin. Consequently, such people will have a high degree of morality in society, which is very important for its orderly functioning. It is not enough to celebrate the Onam festival with religious fervour and devotion.
You have to live up to these expectations of the noble emperor Bali. (Divine Discourse, Sep 2, 2009)

El emperador Bali fue sin duda un gran devoto, que tenía humildad. Sin embargo había en él un elemento de ego. Dios tolera cualquier cosa, pero nunca tolerará la ira ni el ego. Dios no aprecia estas cualidades. ¿Qué es el ego? ¿Por qué este ego? ¿Es por la belleza física, o la fuerza de los sentidos, o la agudeza intelectual, o la riqueza? Ninguna de estas cosas es permanente. El ego también incrementa otras malas cualidades. Dios ha dotado a cada ser humano de cualidades sagradas y nobles, tales como la Verdad (Satya), la Rectitud (Dharma), la Paz (Shanti), el Amor (Prema) y la No violencia (Ahimsa). Desarrollen estas cualidades. Estos son los cinco aires vitales (pancha-pranas) para un ser humano. La ira, los celos, el odio, etc., son malas cualidades, propias de un animal. ¿Cómo puede una persona con esas cualidades animales llamarse un ser humano? Un ser
humano es aquel que tiene buenas cualidades. Sigan a la verdad. La verdad es Dios. Cultiven el amor. El amor es Dios. Vivan en el amor. (Discurso Divino, 5 de septiembre de 2006)

 

Emperor Bali was no doubt a great devotee with humility. However, there was an element of ego in him. God will tolerate anything but never tolerate anger and ego. God does not appreciate these qualities. What is this ego? What for is this ego? Is it for physical beauty or strength of the senses or intellectual acumen or wealth? None of these is permanent. Ego also breeds several other evil qualities! God has gifted every human being with sacred and noble qualities such as Truth (Satya), Righteousness (Dharma), Peace (Shanti), Love (Prema) and Non-violence (Ahimsa). Develop these qualities. These are the five vital airs (pancha-pranas) for a human being. Anger, jealousy, hatred, etc., are evil qualities befitting an animal. How can a person with such animal qualities be called a human being? A human being is one who has good qualities. Follow truth. Truth is God. Cultivate love. Love is God. Live in love.
