Ahora tu mente revolotea por todas partes y se detiene por un instante sobre todos y cada uno de los objetos del universo. Se rehusa a permanecer solamente en una idea, Dios. A la manera de la mosca que se asienta sobre lo bueno y lo malo, y se niega a sí misma el placer de detenerse sobre la ceniza cálida, tu mente también huye de cualquier pensamiento de Dios. La mosca terminará destruída cuando se aposente sobre fuego. Tu mente también será destruída cuando se aposente en Dios. La mente es sólo un modelo de deseo tejido con la urdimbre y trama del mismo material. Cuando el Señor Rama entra en la mente, «Kama» (el deseo) ya no tiene lugar allí. El deseo cesa cuando Dios toma control de la mente. En realidad, dado que el deseo es la sustancia misma de la cual está hecha la mente, ésta deja de existir y tú eres libre. Esta etapa es llamada
«Mano-Nigraha», «Mano-Laya» o «Mano-Nashana» : la defunción de la mente, la fusión de la mente, o la muerte de la mente. (Divino Discurso, Septiembre 26 1965).

 

Now your mind flutters about and squats on all and sundry objects in the Universe. It refuses to stay only on one idea – God. Like the fly that sits on fair and foul, and denies itself the pleasure of sitting on a hot cinder, your mind too flees from all thoughts of God. The fly will be destroyed when it sits on fire. Your mind too will be destroyed when it dwells on God. The mind is but a pattern of desire woven with the warp and woof of the same material. When Rama (the Lord) enters the mind, kama (desire) has no place therein. Desire ceases, when God seizes the mind. In fact, since desire is the very stuff of which the mind is made, the mind becomes nonexistent and you are free. This stage is called, mano-nigraha, mano-laya or mano-nashana – the death of the mind, the merging of the mind or the killing of the mind. (Divine Discourse, Sep 26, 1965)

La mayor maravilla es que nadie se conoce a sí mismo, o lucha por conocerse, pero todos pasan la vida entera indagando sobre los demás. Tu Yo Mismo es más sutil que el agua, que el aire y que el espacio, y debe operar mediante el ojo para que puedas ver, y sobre la mano para que puedas asir, y sobre el pie para que puedas caminar. Los sentidos son materiales inertes, y el «Yo» debe operar para que aquellos funcionen. Ese «Yo» es Brahman,¡al que equivocadamente se lo cree separado ! El espacio dentro de un recipiente y el espacio en un monasterio son idénticos al vasto espacio del firmamento, solo que las distintas formas del recipiente y del monasterio mantienen la ilusión de separación. Los sentidos son los villanos, porque te infunden la ilusión de que tú eres el cuerpo. Sujétalos tal como el toro es sofrenado por la arandela en su nariz, el caballo por el cabestro en la boca, y
el elefante por la garrocha. (Divino Discurso, Octubre 26 1963).

 

The greatest wonder is that nobody knows or struggles to know themselves, but everyone spends a lifetime knowing about others. Your Self is subtler than water, air, and space. The Self must operate through the eye, so that you may see; it must move into the hand, so that it may hold; it must suffuse the feet, so that you may walk. The senses are inert materials; the ‘I’ must operate so that they may function. That “I” is Brahman, mistaken to be separate! The space in a pot and the space in a monastery are identical with the vast space in the sky above; only the disguises in the form of the pot and monastery keep up the illusion of separateness. The senses are the villains. They instill the delusion that you are the body. Curb them as the bull is curbed by the nose ring, the horse by the bit in the mouth, and the elephant by the goad. Si invitamos a alguna gran persona, tal como un santo o un erudito, a nuestra casa, tendremos que hacer algunas preparaciones para dejarla presentable. Antes de que llegue el invitado debemos limpiar la casa y sus alrededores. De la misma manera, si invitamos a un ministro o gobernador a nuestro pueblo, limpiaremos el camino, decoraremos el sendero y mantendremos todo listo y preparado para recibir al eminente visitante. Si nos tomamos tantas molestias y precauciones cuando invitamos a alguien que sólo ostenta una posición temporaria, ¡cuánto más limpio deberíamos tener nuestro corazón al invitar a entrar en él al mismo Creador y Protector del Mundo en persona ! Sólo cuando purifiquemos nuestro corazón Dios podrá habitarlo. Krishna le dijo a Arjuna: » Me estás tomando como el auriga de tu carroza. Tómame como el auriga de tu vida. Piensa cuán limpio y
grandioso debería ser tu corazón para convertirlo en Mi sitial si Yo me convirtiera en el auriga de tu corazón «. (Divino Discurso, Septiembre 12 1984)

 

If we invite some great person, such as a saint or a learned one to our house, some preparations will have to be made at home, to make it presentable. We have to clean the house and the surroundings before the guest arrives. In the same way, if we invite a minister or governor to our village, we would clean the road, decorate the path and keep everything fit and proper for receiving the eminent visitor. If we take so much care and precaution when we invite a person who has only a temporary position, how much more clean should we keep our heart when we invite the very Creator and Protector of the world Himself to enter! It is only when we purify our heart that God will be able to enter it. Krishna said to Arjuna, “You are taking Me as the charioteer of your chariot. Take Me as the charioteer of your life. Think how clean and how grand your heart should be to make it a seat for Me if I become the charioteer of your heart.”
