Cuando las cualidades de un asura (demonio) ingresan en nara (el ser humano), éste se convierte en Narakasura. En una persona así, sólo se hallan malas cualidades y malos sentimientos. Tal persona no se reúne con los nobles ni hace esfuerzo alguno por alcanzar a Dios, sino que traba amistad con gente malvada. Esa mentalidad es consecuencia de malas acciones efectuadas durante numerosos nacimientos. Ravana había adquirido todo tipo de conocimientos, al igual que Rama. Pero, a diferencia de Rama, frecuentó malas compañías, abrigó malos pensamientos y se permitió malas acciones. Por eso, la gente venera a Rama y aborrece a Ravana. Uno es venerado o ridiculizado, de acuerdo a la propia conducta. Comprendan que nadie debe llevar una vida centrada en sí mismo. Dondequiera que tenga lugar una buena actividad, dondequiera que se efectúe una reunión de oración,
allí participen con entusiasmo. Las Escrituras nos guían: «Abandonen las malas compañías. Reúnanse con los nobles. Hagan buenas acciones, día y noche». Discurso Divino, 4 de noviembre de 2002)

 

When the qualities of an asura (demon) enter nara (man), he becomes Narakasura. In such a person, you find only bad qualities and evil feelings. Such a person does not join the company of the noble and does not make efforts to reach God, but makes friendship with only wicked people. Such a mentality is the consequence of evil deeds over a number of births. Ravana had acquired all types of knowledge like Rama. But unlike Rama, he joined bad company, entertained bad thoughts, and indulged in wicked deeds. Hence, people revere Rama and abhor Ravana. One is revered or ridiculed on the basis of one’s conduct. Understand that none should lead a self-centred life. Wherever a good activity is taking place, wherever a prayer meeting is held, take part in them with enthusiasm. The scriptures guide us, “Give up bad company. Join the company of the noble. Perform meritorious deeds day and night.” (Divine Discourse, Nov 4, 2002)

Ahora dedíquense a la disciplina espiritual, los pensamientos espirituales y la compañía espiritual. Olviden el pasado. Procuren salvarse, al menos a partir de ahora. Nunca cedan a la duda o a la inestabilidad. Eso es signo de ignorancia. Tengan fe en cualquier nombre, y en la forma indicada por ese nombre. Si veneran a Shiva y odian a Vishnu, el más y el menos se cancelan mutuamente, y el resultado es cero. No toleraré el menor rastro de odio hacia cualquier nombre o forma. La esposa tiene que venerar al esposo, pero eso no significa que tenga que odiar a sus suegros, cuñados o cuñadas. No se puede llegar al Señor a través del odio hacia una o más de Sus muchas formas y nombres. Si desprecian al Dios que otro venera, el desprecio cae sobre el propio Dios de ustedes. Eviten facciones, peleas, odios, burlas y críticas, porque ellos repercuten sobre ustedes mismos. Recuerden
que cada uno está peregrinando hacia la misma meta; algunos viajan por un camino, otros por otro. (Discurso Divino, 10 de octubre de 1964)

 

Now, engage yourself in spiritual discipline, spiritual thoughts and spiritual company. Forget the past. At least from now on, seek to save yourself. Never yield to doubt or unsteadiness. That is a sign of ignorance. Have faith in any one Name and the Form indicated by that name. If you revere Shiva and hate Vishnu, the plus and the minus cancel out and the net result is zero. I will not tolerate the slightest hatred of any Name or Form. The wife has to revere the husband, but that does not mean that she has to hate his parents, brothers or sisters. You can never attain the Lord through hatred of one or more of His many Forms and Names. If you throw contempt at the God that another reveres, the contempt falls on your own God. Avoid factions, quarrelling, hating, scorning and fault-finding; they recoil on you. Remember everyone is a pilgrim towards the same goal; some travel by one road, some by another. Dios ama la flor de la paz (Shanti). No deben interpretar que esta flor de la paz significa que se queden en silencio cuando alguien los ataca o insulta. ¡De ninguna manera! La verdadera Shanti es que no se sientan afectados o perturbados cuando alguien trata de inculparlos. Si pueden llenar su corazón de amor, estarán siempre en paz. Es a través de nuestras malas cualidades que perdemos la paz. Con pensamientos honestos, tendrán paz; con pensamientos deshonestos, la perderán. Sólo cuando estén libres de todo pensamiento podrán tener la paz auténtica. Sus malos pensamientos son los responsables de todo su dolor y su pena. A través de buenos pensamientos y buenas ideas, llegarán a ser sadhus (santos). Sadhu no significa sólo alguien que viste túnica naranja, se afeita la cabeza y lleva al cuello cuentas sagradas (Rudrakshas). Toda persona que tiene buenos
pensamientos y buenas ideas es un sadhu. (Discurso Divino, 12 de mayo de 1981)

 

God loves the flower of peace (Shanti). This flower of peace should not be interpreted to mean that you should be silent towards whoever is attacking you or blaming you. It is not that at all! If you are unmoved and unperturbed in spite of anyone finding faults in you, that is real Shanti. If you can fill your heart with love, you will always be peaceful. Through our own bad qualities, we lose peace. With truthful thoughts, you will have peace. With untruthful thoughts, you lose peace. It is only when you are free from all thoughts that you can have true peace. Your own bad thoughts are responsible for all your pain and sorrow. Through good thoughts and ideas, you will become a sadhu (saint). Sadhu does not mean one who merely wears an orange robe, shaves the head and wears holy beads (Rudrakshas). Every person who has good thoughts and good ideas is a sadhu. (Divine Discourse, 12 May, 1981)

Desarrollen el amor divino (Prema) hacia el Señor, la encarnación del supremo amor divino. Nunca den cabida a dudas, vacilaciones ni preguntas para probar el amor del Señor. «¿Por qué no terminan mis problemas?» «¿Por qué me ocurre esta situación?» No piensen que Dios no cuida de ustedes, o que no los conoce. Puede que no consigan lo que desean, cuando lo desean; pero no crean que Dios no los ama o no los cuida. No permitan que flaquee la mente; nunca dejen que decline la fe. Eso simplemente se sumaría a la pena que ya están sufriendo. Aférrense a su deidad elegida: Shiva, Rama o Sai Baba. No pierdan el contacto ni la compañía, porque sólo estando en contacto con las brasas, el carbón puede llegar a ser una de ellas. Cultiven en su corazón la cercanía a Mí, y serán recompensados con una
fracción del supremo amor divino. (Discurso Divino, 10 de octubre de 1964)

 

Develop divine love (Prema) towards the Lord, the Embodiment of Supreme Divine Love. Never give room for doubts, hesitations and questions to test the Lord’s Love. “Why have my troubles not ended? How come this situation is happening to me?” Do not think that God does not care for you or He does not know you. You may not get what you want, when you want, but do not be under the impression that God does not love you or care for you. Do not get shaken in mind; never allow faith to decline. That will only add to the grief you already suffer from. Hold fast to your chosen deity – Shiva, Rama or Sai Baba. Do not lose the contact and company, for only when coal is in contact with the live embers, it can also become one. Cultivate nearness to Me in your heart and you will be rewarded with a fraction of Supreme Divine Love. (Divine Discourse, 10 Oct, 1964)
