Mucho más beneficioso que honrar a los grandes es la práctica de amarlos. La alabanza y el elogio los elevarán a un pedestal inalcanzable. El amor une a un corazón con otro. La gratitud por la inspiración y la instrucción recibidas debe unir a los corazones en el amor. La celebración de la Navidad no debe incluir algunos villancicos, retablos, árboles artificiales y Santa Claus. Debe empaparse en la resolución de practicar al menos algunas lecciones que Jesús nos enseñó. La primera necesidad es la fe en Dios y en nuestra propia Naturaleza Divina. La alegría espiritual, la apreciación y la visión (Darshan) de Dios deben convertirse en el aliento natural de la vida y en el propósito mismo de sus existencias. Jesús enseñó por precepto y ejemplo a la humanidad el principio Átmico que es la fuente eterna de
bienaventuranza. Hagan lo que hagan, donde sea que estén, como sea que les vaya, estén convencidos de que siempre están en Dios. Far more beneficial than honouring the great is the practice of loving them. Praise and eulogy will raise them to an unreachable pedestal. Love binds one heart to another. Gratitude for the inspiration and instruction received must bind hearts in love. Celebration of Christmas should not include some carols, tableaux, artificial trees and Santa Claus. It must be soaked in the resolution to practice at least a few lessons Jesus taught us. The very first need is faith in God and in our own Divine Nature. Spiritual joy, appreciation, and the vision (Darshan) of God must become the natural breath of life and the very purpose of your existence. Jesus taught by precept and example to mankind the Atmic principle which is the eternal source of bliss. Whatever you do, wherever you are, however you fare, be convinced that you are ever in God. Know that all is Divine and all acts are offerings to the glory of God. In this manner make your lives fruitful. (Divine

Sean regulares en las horas que dedican a Japam o la repetición del nombre de Dios. En las vacaciones, cuando no tengan que preocuparse por la oficina o por hacer las compras, hagan más japam hasta avanzada la mañana. Háganlo con amor y entusiasmo. El hacerlo debería volverse natural para ustedes. La Gracia del Gurú ayuda mucho; pueden ganar Su gracia con sus esfuerzos y oraciones fervientes. Vivekananda estaba cayendo en el ateísmo y el agnosticismo a medida que leía más y más libros, pero un toque de la mano de Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, su Gurú, lo transformó por completo. Be regular in the hours you devote to Japam or repetition of God’s name. On holidays, when you have no worry of office or shopping, do more Japam till late into the morning. Do with love and enthusiasm. It should become natural for you to do so. The Grace of the Guru helps a lot; you can win His grace by your efforts and earnest prayer. Vivekananda was sliding into atheism and agnosticism as he read more and more books, but a touch from the hand of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, his Guru, transformed him completely. You can also win this Grace, by your efforts and earnest prayer. Before you start meditation, chant Soham, inhaling So and exhaling Ham. Soham means ‘He is I’, it identifies you with the Infinite and expands your Consciousness. Harmonise your breath and thoughts. Breathe gently and naturally; do not make it artificial and laboured. It must flow in and out, soft and silent! (Divine Discourse, May 10, 1969).

Dharmakshetra y Kurukshetra no son meramente lugares cercanos a Delhi o Hastinapur en el mapa de la India. Tampoco los Pandavas y los Kauravas son simplemente clanes principescos que figuran en el relato. Al cuerpo humano se le llama kshetra (campo), por lo que Dharmakshetra, está en todos. Cuando el dueño del cuerpo descarta todos los deseos, pasiones e impulsos, ¡el cuerpo se vuelve Dharma-kshetra (el campo de la rectitud)! Un niño tiene en su corazón solo Dharmakshetra, porque no ha desarrollado deseos sensuales. Acepta lo que se le ofrece. Su ego aún no está ramificado en el mundo objetivo de la multiplicidad. Pero más tarde, cuando crecen ramas y follaje, el Dharmakshetra toma la forma de Kurukshetra: el campo de batalla donde la mente lucha entre la esperanza y la desesperación, y se ve obligada a consumir los diversos frutos, dulces y amargos, como resultado de su propia

Dharmakshetra and Kurukshethra are not merely places near Delhi or Hastinapur on the map of India. Nor are the Pandavas and Kauravas merely princely clans figuring in the tale. The human body is called kshetra (field), and so Dharmakshetra, is in every one. When the owner of the body discards all desires, passions and impulses, then the body becomes Dharma-kshetra (the field of righteousness)! A child has in its heart only Dharmakshetra, for it has not developed sensual desires. It accepts whatever is offered. Its ego is not yet ramified into the objective world of multiplicity. But later, when it grows branches and foliage, the Dharmakshetra takes the shape of Kurukshetra – the battlefield where the mind struggles between hope and despair, and is forced to consume the diverse fruits, sweet and bitter, as a result of its own choice of actions. Actions illumined by Jnana or wisdom bring about success. The Jnana that God alone exists can win the grace
of God! (Divine Discourse, May 12, 1969).

Ahora el Principio Divino está más allá de tu experiencia, porque no estás listo para dar lo mejor de ti a los demás, en quienes también
está el mismísimo Principio. Cuando estés listo para dar, tienes derecho a tomar; hasta entonces, no. Ama y coopera. Ayuda y sirve. (Discurso divino, 22 de noviembre de 1969).

 

We find that even among the highly educated, few help their ageing parents and give them a fraction of the comforts they themselves command. Each one is immersed in ensuring their own standard of living. How long can you live that standard of life? A day will come when you must bid farewell to all that you have garnered with cunning and cleverness, inflicting pain and sorrow, discontent and distress on many. Service to parents, elders and the suffering gives joy and satisfaction beyond compare. Virtue and righteousness – these will bear witness on your behalf on the Day of Judgement; neither your bank account nor your income tax returns will speak for you. Now the Divine Principle is beyond your experience, because you are not ready to give your best to others, in whom also contains the self-same Principle. When you are ready to give, you are entitled to take; not until then. Love and co-operate. Help and serve. (Divine Discourse, Nov 22, 1969).
