El nombre «Krishna» tiene tres diferentes significados. (1) Karsh es una raíz, de la cual el nombre se deriva; significa «aquello que atrae». Krishna atrae los corazones hacia Sí por Sus alegres pasatiempos, Sus victorias milagrosas sobre las fuerzas del mal, Su encantadora conversación, Su sabiduría y Su belleza personal. (2) La palabra se relaciona también con la raíz Krish: cultivar, como un campo que se siembra. El significado derivado de allí es «El que quita las malezas del corazón del hombre y siembra las semillas de la fe, el valor y la alegría». (3) Se relaciona con la raíz Krish, la cual significa también algo que está por encima y más allá de los tres atributos y las tres eras. Na significa sat-chit-ananda (Verdad-Conciencia-Bienaventuranza). En el Bhagavata se describen los leelas (juegos divinos) y mahimas
(poderes milagrosos) de Krishna, mediante los cuales Él atrae el amor de la humanidad, cultiva la cosecha de alegría en el corazón de Sus devotos y los hace conscientes de que Él es sat-chit-ananda.

 

The name ‘Krishna’ has three separate meanings: (1) Karsh is one root from which the name is derived. It means, ‘that which attracts’; Krishna attracts hearts to Himself, by His sportive pastimes, miraculous victories over the forces of evil, His charming conversation, His wisdom and His personal beauty. (2) The word is also related to the root Krish, to cultivate, as a field for growing crops. The meaning derived therefrom is – He who removes the weeds from the heart of man, and sows the seeds of faith, courage and joy. (3) It is related to the root, Krish, which also means something above and beyond the three attributes and the three eras, and na means, Sat-chit-ananda (Truth-Consciousness-Bliss). The leelas (divine plays) and mahimas (miracle powers) of Krishna through which He attracts the love of mankind, cultivates the harvest of joy in the hearts of His devotees and makes them aware of His being Sat-chit-ananda are
described in the Bhagavata.

La determinación para alcanzar ananda y shanti ( bienaventuranza y paz) no debería parpadear como la llama de una lámpara colocada en el vano entreabierto de una ventana. Deben aprender a conseguirla de las escrituras o de los sabios que las han ganado. Entonces adhiéranse al camino, sin importar cuán agudas sean las críticas, y quienes los condenen insensible y cínicamente. La risa cargada de cinismo no debería lastimar a un aspirante. ¿Acaso una tormenta puede sacudir al Himalaya? No dejen que la fe en la meta tiemble ante los problemas, pruebas, esfuerzos, penurias, angustia y desesperación. Son solo nubes pasajeras, arrojando sombras temporales, escondiendo la gloria del sol o la luna por un corto tiempo. Nunca se dejen distraer por la duda o el desaliento. Construyan la mansión de su vida sobre los firmes pilares del dharma, artha, kama y moksha (rectitud, prosperidad,
deseo y liberación) las metas del esfuerzo humano (Purusharthas) legadas por los antiguos sabios. Cada pilar está ligado fuerte y seguro con cada uno de los otros. Your determination to acquire ananda and shanti (bliss and peace) should not flicker like the flame of a lamp placed on a gusty windowsill. You must learn to acquire them from scriptures or from the wise who have won them. Then adhere to the path, however sharp the criticism, and no matter who condemns it callously and cynically. Cynical laughter shouldn’t harm an aspirant. Can a storm shake the Himalayan ranges? Let not your faith in your goal quake before troubles, trials, toils, travail, distress or despair. They are but passing clouds, casting temporary shadows, hiding the glory of the sun or the moon for a little while. Never get distracted by doubt or despondency. Build the mansion of your life on the firm pillars of dharma, artha, kama, moksha (righteousness, prosperity, desire and liberation) – the goals of human effort (Purusharthas) laid down by ancient sages, each pillar bound strong and safe with every other. Never allow the pillars

Puede que la lengua pronuncie el Nombre del Señor, los oídos estén abiertos cuando la gloria del Señor es recitada, sus manos esparzan flores ante la imagen de Dios, pero ¿acaso la lengua conoce o disfruta su sabor?¿el oído anhela? ¿Está la mano añorando al Señor? El resultado de sus prácticas espirituales puede ser experimentado solo cuando el corazón es consciente del Supremo y cuando la mente se estremece al rememorar la Gloria de Dios. De otro modo es como la cuchara que se sumerge en lo agrio y lo dulce con el mismo entusiasmo e intensidad.¡ No se rehúsa a disfrutar de ningún sabor! Lean el Vedanta o textos sagrados sinceramente y practíquenlos, entonces se convertirán en parte de sus vidas cotidianas, conducta y carácter. The tongue may utter the Name of the Lord, your ears may be open when the glory of the Lord is recited, your hands may scatter flowers on the image of God, but does your tongue know or relish its taste? Does the ear yearn? Does the hand hanker for the Lord? The result of your spiritual practices can be experienced only when your heart is aware of the Supreme and when your mind is thrilled when the glory of God is recollected. Otherwise it is like the spoon which dips into sour and sweet with equal alacrity and insensitivity. It does not refuse or relish any taste! Read Vedanta or sacred texts or scriptures earnestly and practice them, then it will become part of your daily living, conduct and character. One’s claim to be a devotee of the Lord, a votary of the Highest, can be admitted only if your passions and emotions are pure, noble and your character virtuous. (Divine Discourse, Mar 23, 1966)
