Sus mentes, su destino, posición y riqueza (mati, gati, stiti, and sampatti), son regalos de Dios. Deben usarlos para desarrollar las cualidades de igualdad, solidaridad, integridad y concordia. Pero hoy la gente ha cambiado su mente(mati) a una mente perversa (durmati). Es su mente (mati) la que los hace buenas o malas personas. El uso inadecuado de su mente los hará egoístas. La juventud moderna y los estudiantes aspiran a la riqueza, la amistad y alta posición pero no a las virtudes, y se dan a la ostentación. Muchos estudiantes pierden su tiempo con malas compañías, malos pensamientos y mal comportamiento. El bronce y el oro se ven iguales. Pero un recipiente de bronce hace mucho más ruido que uno hecho de oro. Los estudiantes no deberían dar rienda suelta a la ostentación y la jactancia. Hablen siempre con dulzura y suavemente, con humildad. No siempre pueden hacer favores,
pero pueden hablar con amabilidad en todo momento. Hablen siempre con afecto y respeto, y compórtense como devotos ideales, y estudiantes ideales. (Divino Discurso, 10 de julio de 1996)

 

Your mind, destiny, position, and wealth (mati, gati, stiti, and sampatti), are gifts of God. You must use it to develop the qualities of equality, solidarity, integrity, and amity. But people today have changed their mind (mati) into a wicked mind (durmati). It is your mind (mati) that makes you a good or bad person. Improper use of mind will make you egoistic. Modern youth and students aspire for wealth, friendship, and high position but not virtues, and indulge in ostentation. Many students waste their time in bad company, bad thoughts, and bad behavior. Brass and gold, both look alike. But a vessel of brass makes much more noise than one made of gold. Students should not indulge in showmanship and tall talk. Always talk sweetly and softly, with humility. You cannot always oblige, but you can always speak obligingly. Always talk lovingly and respectfully, and conduct yourself fittingly as an ideal devotee, an ideal student. (Divine Discourse, 10

Se dice: “El estudio apropiado de la humanidad es el hombre”. Deben cultivar las cualidades de la bondad y la compasión. Recién entonces merecerán el nombre de humanos. ¡No son solo gente, sino humanidad! Actualmente se usan las palabras ‘género humano’ o ‘humanidad’ sin entender su verdadero significado. Pueden alcanzar el nivel de la divinidad sólo si desarrollan virtudes. Dios no está en otra parte, ustedes son Dios. No son diferentes a Dios si tienen un corazón puro. Dios es el eterno cochero, que está siempre presente en sus corazones. Él es solo el cochero y no el dueño; ustedes son los dueños. Al Señor Krishna se lo llama Parthasarathi porque Él se convirtió en cochero (Sarathi) de Arjuna (Partha). Del mismo modo, cuando tienen pureza de corazón y sentimientos santos, Dios será su cochero y los conducirá por el buen
camino . Por lo tanto elijan a Dios como su cochero y llevarán una vida ideal. (Discurso Divino, 10 de julio de 1996)

 

It is said, “The proper study of mankind is man”. You should cultivate the qualities of kindness and compassion. Only then does one deserve the title of human. You are not only people, but humanity! Today people use the word mankind or humanity without understanding its real meaning. One can rise to the level of the divine only if you develop virtues. God is not somewhere else, you are God. You are not different from God if you have a pure heart. God is the eternal charioteer, who is always present in your heart. He is only a charioteer and not the owner; you are the owner. Lord Krishna is called Parthasarathi because He became the charioteer (Sarathi) of Arjuna (Partha). Similarly, when you develop purity of heart and sacred feelings, God will be your charioteer and take you on the right path. Therefore choose God as your charioteer and lead an ideal life. Habiendo desechado cualquier inconveniente que se les pueda presentar, deben continuar sus prácticas espirituales con la misma disciplina. El smarana (recuerdo) del Nombre del Señor que aman debe continuar. El nombre que han elegido no debe producirles ningún sentimiento de antipatía o apatía. Si el Nombre se cambia con frecuencia, es imposible concentrarse, y sus mentes no lograrán el objetivo único, que es la meta de toda disciplina espiritual. Eviten adoptar y rechazar constantemente los Nombres de Dios. Tengan la convicción que todos los Nombres y Formas son el mismo nombre y forma que adoran. Tomen todas las pérdidas materiales, los sufrimientos y las preocupaciones como meramente temporales y transitorias, y comprendan que la repetición del Nombre y la meditación sirven solamente para superar ese dolor. Deben entender que la pérdida, el sufrimiento y la
preocupación son externos, pertenecen a este mundo, mientras que la repetición del Nombre y la meditación son internos, pertenecen al terreno del amor por el Señor. (Prema Vahini, Cap. 64)

 

Irrespective of whatever inconveniences you may encounter, you must continue your spiritual practices with the same discipline. The smarana (remembrance) of the Name of the Lord you cherish should go on. Your chosen Name must not give you the slightest feeling of dislike or apathy. If the Name is changed frequently, concentration is impossible, and your mind will not attain one-pointedness, which is the goal of all spiritual disciplines. Avoid constant adoption and rejection of Lord’s Names. Be convinced that all Names and Forms are the same name and form that you adore. Take all worldly losses, sufferings, and worries as merely temporal and transitory, and realise that repetition of the Name and meditation is only to overcome such grief. You must understand that loss, suffering, and worry are external, they belong to this world, while repetition of the Name and meditation are internal, they belong to the realm of the love for the Lord. “El mundo es inestable. El nacimiento es una desgracia. La vejez es una desgracia. ¡Tengan cuidado!” dice un poema Sánscrito. Mientras están vivos, todos parecerían amar el cuerpo. Esto es por razones puramente egoístas. Dios es el único totalmente desinteresado. Amen a Dios y lleven vidas normales; no hay nada de malo en ello. Cualquier cosa que hagan, considérenla una ofrenda a Dios. Vean a Dios en cada persona. No sientan mala voluntad para con nadie. No tengan demasiado apego para con nadie. Dirijan todo su apego hacia Dios. Amen a todos. No confíen en nadie sino en Dios. Tomen conciencia de la inestabilidad del cuerpo y depositen su confianza solamente en Dios. Busquen refugio en Él. Lo que más se necesita hoy en día en esta era Kali es la fe. Lo más seguido posible, cuando tengan la oportunidad, mediten sobre Dios. Gánense el aprecio de la sociedad a
través del servicio sincero. Eso les asegurará un buen futuro. (Discurso Divino, agosto de 1996)

 

“The world is impermanent. Birth is a misery. Old age is a misery. Be careful!» says a Sanskrit poem. As long as you are alive, everyone would seem to love the body. This is for purely selfish reasons. God alone is utterly selfless. Love God and lead your normal lives; there is nothing wrong in this. Whatever you do, treat it as an offering to God. See God in everyone. Don’t have ill will towards anyone. Do not have excessive attachment for anyone. Direct all attachment towards God. Love all. Do not rely on anyone except God. Realise the impermanence of the body and place your trust solely in God. Seek refuge in Him. What is most needed today in this Kali age is faith. As often as possible, when you get the chance, meditate on God. Earn the esteem of society through sincere service. That will ensure a good future for you. (Divine Discourse, Aug 16, 1996)
