Levántate cada día como si te estuvieras levantando de la muerte, y recita esta oración: » Así acabo de nacer. Hazme hablar con palabras suaves y dulces, y hazme comportarme con serenidad sirviendo de consuelo para todos. Permíteme efectuar acciones que derramen felicidad por doquier, y forma ideas en mi mente que sean beneficiosas para el mundo. Que este día sea valioso por servirte a Ti». Ora de esta manera sentado en tu cama antes de que comiences tu rutina diaria, y recuerda esta oración durante el día. Cuando te retires a descansar por la noche, siéntate y examina rapidamente todas las experiencias de la jornada. Indaga para ver si has causado dolor o desagrado a alguien mediante palabra o acción. Luego reza : «Ahora voy a «morir» y regresar a Tu regazo. Perdóname mis faltas y dame refugio bajo Tu amoroso techo». Después de todo, ¡ el sueño es una
corta muerte, y la muerte es un largo sueño ! (Divino Discurso, 22 Enero 1967).

 

Rise everyday as if you are rising from death. Recite the prayer, “Thus am I born. Make me speak soft, sweet words, and make me behave coolly and comfortingly towards all; let me do deeds that shower happiness on all and form ideas in my mind which are beneficial to all. May this day be worthwhile by service to Thee». Pray in this manner sitting on your bed, before you start the day’s schedule. Remember this pledge throughout the day. When you retire at night, sit up and examine quickly all the experiences of the day; see whether you have caused pain or displeasure to anyone by any word or deed. Then pray, «I am now ‘dying’ and falling into Your lap. Pardon me for any lapse; take me under Your loving shelter.» After all, sleep is a short death and death a long sleep! (Divine Discourse, Jan 22, 1967)

Tu mente oscilará entre lo correcto y lo incorrecto, entre el dolor y la alegría, sólo cuando tú la apremies y la alientes. Desiste de rebobinar la mente y ésta cesará sus travesuras. No enumeres tus lágrimas de dolor o viertas sobre otros tus penas. Déjalas que pasen por tu mente como las aves surcan el cielo, sin dejar rastro tras ellas, o como las llamas o la correntada aparecen en la pantalla de un cine, sin por eso afectar la pantalla. Nunca te descorazones cuando te sobrevenga una desilusión. Quizás lo que deseabas no era correcto, o su concreción te hubiera colocado en una peor situación. Como sea, fue la voluntad del Señor y Él sabe mejor. Las desilusiones y el desasosiego son como la cáscara del plátano, que protegen el sabor de la fruta y permiten que esta se llene de dulzura. En tales momentos difíciles, permite a tu mente
refugiarse en el esplendor y majestad del Ser Divino («Atma»). Eso te mantendrá bravo y alerta. (Divino Discurso, 22 Enero 1967).

 

Your mind will waver from right to wrong, from pain to joy, only when you urge it on and encourage it. Desist from winding the mind; it will cease its antics. Do not count your tears of pain or pour out your grief. Let them pass through your mind, as birds fly through the sky, leaving no trail behind; or as flames and floods appear on the screen in a movie theatre, without dampening the screen. Never lose heart when you are disappointed. Perhaps your wish itself was wrong, or its realisation may have landed you in worse situations. Anyway, it is the will of the Lord and He knows best. Disappointments and distress are like the skin of the plantain; they are meant to protect the taste and allow the sweetness to fill the fruit. In such dire straits, let your mind dwell on the splendour of the Divine Self (Atma) and its majesty; that will keep you alert and brave. (Divine Discourse, Jan 22, 1967)

En las Escrituras se describe a Dios como Raso vai sah: «Él es la dulce esencia». ¿Cómo podría la dulzura volverse amarga? La Divinidad es un espejo inmaculadamente limpio; en él ustedes ven su propio reflejo. Si son propensos al terror, el reflejo que vean los aterrorizará. Si tienen propensiones suaves e inofensivas, el reflejo será tierno y blando. No culpen a Dios, como tienden a hacerlo a menudo. Cuando todo anda bien, dicen que Dios se ha aproximado a ustedes; cuando algo sale mal, dicen que Dios los ha abandonado y se ha ido lejos. Él no se desplaza cerca ni lejos. La distancia entre Él y ustedes es la misma que la distancie entre ustedes y Él. Él está en todas partes. Está siempre en sus corazones. Reconózcanlo allí; percíbanlo como lo más cercano a ustedes. Él es su propio Yo Mismo; ni terrible ni tierno,
simplemente es. (Discurso Divino, 30 de mayo de 1974)

 

God is described in the scriptural texts as, Raso vai sah – «He is the sweet essence.» How can sweetness ever become bitter? Godhead is a spotlessly clean mirror; you see in it your own reflection. When you have terror-striking propensities, the reflection you see will strike terror in you. When you have soft and harmless propensities, the reflection will be tender and soft. Do not lay the blame on God, as you are often prone to doing! When everything goes right, you say that God has come close to you; when something goes wrong, you say that God has deserted you and gone afar! He does not move far or near. The distance from Him to you is as much as the distance from you to Him. He is everywhere. He always is in your heart. Recognise Him there; realise Him as the closest and nearest to you. He is your own Self, neither terrible nor tender, but, simply is. (Divine Discourse, May 30, 1974)

Entre los maestros y los estudiantes hay un vínculo perenne de puro amor. Los estudiantes pueden ganarse el corazón de cualquier maestro, y también un maestro puede ganarse el corazón de los estudiantes. Para ser amados, ustedes deben amar primero a los demás. La base de la cultura india es «Hablen con la verdad y practiquen la conducta correcta». Sean humildes. Puede que no siempre agraden, pero siempre pueden hablar agradablemente. A veces, los maestros necesitan ser estríctos. Séanlo. Recuerden que Dios puede ser más duro que un diamante, cuando la situación lo demanda. De lo contrario, es más blando que la manteca. Los maestros comprenden muy bien esta naturaleza divina, y deben ejemplificarla en su conducta. Para ganarse la confianza de los estudiantes, los maestros deben relacionarse con amor, señalar sin temor sus errores, y conducirlos por la buena
senda. Sólo así los estudiantes seguirán el buen camino y corregirán sus errores. Para el progreso y la prosperidad de la nación, cada maestro debe amar a sus estudiantes y moldear su carácter. (Discurso Divino, 21 de noviembre de 2001)

 

There is a perennial bond of pure love between teachers and students. Students can win over any teacher’s heart, and a teacher can win over students’ hearts as well. To be loved, you must love others first. The basis of Indian culture is, “Speak truth, practice right conduct.” Be humble. You may not always oblige, but you can always speak obligingly! At times, teachers may need to be strict. Be so. Remember, God can be harder than a diamond when the situation demands. Otherwise, He is softer than butter. Teachers very well understand this Divine nature and must exemplify it in their behaviour too. To take students into their confidence, teachers must approach them with love and fearlessly point out their mistakes and lead them on the right path. Only then students will follow the righteous path and correct their mistakes. For the progress and prosperity of the nation, every teacher must love their students and mould their
