El nombre es la fuente de toda la esencia del Espíritu Supremo (el Chaithanya) que ustedes obtienen al recordar el nombre; es el néctar que otorga la vida; es la fuente de energía primordial. Reciten el nombre, y El Nombrado estará ante ustedes; imaginen al Nombrado y el nombre saltará a sus labios. El nombre y la forma son anverso y reverso de la misma moneda. Algunos hacen el voto de escribir el nombre del Señor un millón de veces, pero muy a menudo se trata solo de una cuestión de dedos y pluma. La mente no debe alejarse del nombre. Debe residir en la dulzura que el nombre connota; debe rumiar la belleza de la forma que él evoca y el perfume que difunde. La conducta y el comportamiento del que escribe deben ser los que corresponden a un servidor de Dios: los demás deben ser inspirados por él, y su fe debe refrescarse con la experiencia del escritor. The Name is the spring of all the essence of the Supreme Spirit (the Chaithanya) that you get by remembrance of the Name; it is the life-giving nectar; it is the fountain of primal energy. Recite the Name and the Named will be before you; picture the Named and the Name will leap to your lips. Name and form are the reverse and the obverse of the same coin. Some vow to write the name of the Lord a million times, but very often it is just a matter of the fingers and the pen. The mind should not wander from the name. It should dwell on the sweetness that the name connotes; it should ruminate on the beauty of the form that it recalls and the perfume that it spreads. The conduct and behaviour of the writer should be such as befits a servant of God — others should be inspired by them, and their faith should get freshened by the experience of the writer. – Divine Discourse Apr 28, 1962

El Señor protegerá de todas las maneras y en todo momento a quienes lo adoren en completa e inmaculada devoción (bhakti), como una madre protege a sus hijos, una vaca salva a su ternero del peligro, y los párpados cuidan a los ojos sin esfuerzo y automáticamente. Cuando el niño crece hasta ser adulto, la madre ya no presta tanta atención a su seguridad. Así también, el Señor no presta mucha atención al sabio (jnani). El devoto de la forma (saguna bhakta), como un niño del Señor, no tiene fuerza aparte de la fuerza del Señor. Para el alma realizada (el jnani) su propia fuerza es suficiente. Por lo tanto, hasta que podamos confiar en nuestras propias fuerzas, debemos ser niños en manos del Señor, como devotos de la forma, ¿no es verdad? Nadie puede llegar a ser devoto del Supremo sin forma (nirguna bhakta) sin haber sido devoto de la
forma. (Prema Vahini, Capítulo 48)

 

The Lord will protect in all ways and at all times those who worship Him in complete and uncontaminated devotion (bhakti) —just as a mother protects her infants, a cow saves her calf from danger, and the eyelids guard the eyes effortlessly and automatically. When the infant grows up into an adult, the mother won’t pay so much attention to its safety. So too, the Lord doesn’t pay much attention to the wise one (jnani). The devotee of form (saguna bhakta), like an infant of the Lord, has no strength except the strength of the Lord. For the realized soul (jnani), their own strength is enough. Therefore, until one can rely on one’s own strength, one must be an infant in the Lord’s Hands, as a devotee of the form, right? No one can become a devotee of the formless Supreme (nirguna bhakta) without having been a devotee of the form. – Prema Vahini, Ch 48

Una vez, cuando Narada preguntó a Sri Ramachandra sobre la naturaleza y características de sus servidores y de los aspirantes espirituales, Él respondió: «Están llenos de amor; respaldan siempre la rectitud; dicen la verdad; sus corazones se derriten de misericordia; están desprovistos de maldad; evitan el pecado; sus naturaleza tiene bases firmes; están dispuestos a renunciar gustosamente a todo; comen con moderación; se dedican a hacer el bien a los demás; no tienen egoísmo; no están preocupados por dudas. No prestan oídos a la adulación, pero están listos a escuchar alabanzas a la buena naturaleza de otros. Tienen un carácter hermoso, fuerte y sagrado. Aspirantes espirituales son aquellos que se dedican a adquirir estas cualidades. Ahora te hablaré de aquellos que me son queridos: todo aquel que se dedique a la repetición del
nombre, a austeridades y votos; todo aquel que tenga autocontrol y disciplina; todo aquel que tenga fe, paciencia, camaradería, amabilidad y alegría, como así también amor puro hacia Mí. Una persona así me es querida». (Prema Vahini, Capítulo 48)

 

When Narada once asked Sri Ramachandra about the nature and characteristics of His servants and spiritual aspirants, He answered, “They are full of love; they always stand by righteousness; they speak the truth; their hearts melt with mercy; they are devoid of wrong; they avoid sin; their nature is well-founded; they will renounce everything gladly; they eat in moderation; they are engaged in doing good to others; they have no selfishness; they aren’t worried by doubts. They won’t lend their ears to flattery but are eager to listen to the praise of the good nature of others. They have beautiful, strong, and holy character. Spiritual aspirants are those who endeavour to acquire such qualities. Now I shall tell you about those who are dear to Me: Anyone who is engaged in repetition of the name, penance, and vows, anyone who has self-control and discipline, anyone who has faith, patience, comradeship, kindness and joy as well as
unalloyed love towards Me — such a person is dear to Me.” – Prema Vahini, Ch 48
