Actualmente, todos buscan comodidades y placeres; eso parece ser la única razón de la existencia. Si dicen a la gente que pueden comer todo lo que gusten, y la cantidad que quieran, estarán encantados. Si añaden que, como consecuencia, podrán desarrollar alguna enfermedad, los tratarán como a enemigos. Ningún régimen o control es popular. Sin embargo, la fuerza se deriva sólo del control, de la restricción y de la regulación. Las personas se hacen fuertes y resistentes sólo si dan la bienvenida a las dificultades. Esfuércense, y obtendrán la fuerza para lograr el éxito. Busquen en lo invisible la base de lo visible. El elevado rascacielos tiene profundos basamentos hincados en la tierra. Este mundo visible tiene como basamento al invisible Paramathma (Señor Supremo). El cuerpo de ustedes es el instrumento dado por Dios, a través del
cual pueden buscar, investigar y descubrir ese basamento. (Divino Discurso, 23 de noviembre de 1964)

 

Everyone is now seeking comfort and pleasure; that seems to be the be-all and end-all. If you tell people that they can eat whatever they like and as much as they like, they are delighted; if you add that they might develop, as a consequence, some illness or other, they will treat you as an enemy! No regimen or control is popular. But strength is derived only from control, from restraint and regulation. People become tough and capable of endurance only if they welcome hardships. Struggle, and you get the strength to succeed. Seek the basis for the seen in the unseen. The tall skyscraper has a deep base reaching into the earth. This seen world has as its base the unseen Paramathma (Supreme Lord)! Your body is the god-gifted instrument through which you can search, investigate, and discover that base. Tal vez ustedes digan que el karma del nacimiento previo debe ser consumido en este nacimiento, y que ninguna cantidad de gracia puede salvarlos. Evidentemente, alguien les ha enseñado a creerlo así. ¡Yo les aseguro que no necesitan sufrir de esa manera por el karma! Cuando están atormentados por un fuerte dolor, el médico les da una inyección de morfina (calmante del dolor), y no sienten el dolor, a pesar de que éste sigue estando en su cuerpo. La gracia es como la morfina: el dolor no se siente, a pesar de que lo tienen. La Gracia quita la malignidad del karma que soportan. Así como los medicamentos vencidos resultan inefectivos después de cierta fecha, el efecto del karma queda anulado, aunque la cuenta siga existiendo. Por eso, es erróneo decir que «Lalata likhitam» (el destino escrito sobre la frente) no puede hacerse inefectivo. La Gracia puede sobrepasar cualquier cosa;
nada puede interponerse en su camino. Recuerden: ¡se trata de la Gracia del «Todo-poderoso»! (Discurso Divino, 23 de noviembre de 1964)

 

 

 

 

You might say that the karma from previous birth must be consumed in this birth and that no amount of grace can save you. Evidently someone has taught you to believe so. I assure you, you need not suffer from karma like that. When severe pain torments you, the doctor gives you a morphine injection (pain-killer), and you do not feel the pain though it is there in your body. Grace is like morphine; the pain is not felt, though you go through it! Grace takes away the malignity of the karma which you undergo. Just like dated drugs are declared ineffective after a certain date, with Grace, the effect of karma is rendered null, though the account is there! Hence, it is wrong to say the ‘Lalata likhitam’ (fate written on the forehead) cannot be rendered ineffective. Grace can surpass anything; nothing can stand in its way. Remember, it is the grace of the ‘All-mighty’! [Divine Discourse, Nov 23, 1964]

Actualmente no hay nadie totalmente bueno; luego, ¿quién merece la protección de Dios? ¡Todos están manchados por la maldad! ¿Sobreviviría alguien si Dios decidiera eliminar el mal? Por lo tanto, tengo que corregir el buddhi (intelecto) de diversas maneras; tengo que aconsejar, ayudar, ordenar, condenar y acompañar, como amigo y partidario de todos, para que puedan abandonar las malas tendencias, reconocer el camino recto, avanzar por él y llegar a la meta. Tengo que revelar a la gente el valor de los Vedas y las Escrituras, los cuales dictan las normas. El camino
más fácil hacia la toma de conciencia de uno mismo es entregar el ego. Arjuna se entregó, y así la guerra en que estaba comprometido fue transformada en un yajna, un sacrificio. Daksha efectuó un yajna, pero estaba muy lleno de egoísmo, y optó por no entregarse, de modo que su yajna se transformó en una guerra llena de odio. No opongan su diminuto ego contra el Todopoderoso; abandónenlo a Su Voluntad, y así disfrutarán de la paz perdurable. (Discurso Divino, 23 de noviembre de 1964)

In the present times, there is none fully good, and so who deserves the protection of God? All are tainted by wickedness! Will anyone survive if God decides to uproot evil? Therefore I have to correct the buddhi (intellect) by various means; I have to counsel, help,
command, condemn and standby as friend and well-wisher to all, so that they may give up evil propensities, recognise the straight path, tread it and reach the goal. I have to reveal to the people the worth of the Vedas and the scriptural texts, which lay down the norms. The easiest path to self-realisation is the surrender of the ego. Arjuna surrendered and so the war he was engaged was transformed into a yajna, a sacrifice! Daksha performed a yajna, but was so full of egoism and chose not to surrender! So his yajna was transformed into a war filled with hate. Do not pit your tiny ego against the Almighty; leave it to His Will and you will enjoy lasting peace. [Divine Discourse, Nov 23, 1964]

Encarnaciones del Uno Mismo Divino: ustedes celebran hoy el cumpleaños de Swami y obtienen divina bienaventuranza (ananda) a través de diversos programas ejecutados con entusiasmo; pero en realidad Yo no deseo considerar este día como especial. Ese deseo no existe en Mí en ningún momento, en este viaje de la vida o en cualquier otro. No necesito nada, ni grande ni chico, en este Universo. He venido con un propósito: revelar a todos el misterio de la realidad de ustedes, y la meta de su vida. Lo que deben poner ante Mí como ofrenda es el amor puro, desde su interior. Cuando me ofrecen eso, yo obtengo ananda. A partir de hoy, pasen los días y los años en actividades que ayuden y cuiden a quienes están en suma necesidad, y hagan que esta existencia humana que tienen, sea significativa y fructífera. Condúzcanse apropiadamente, y concreten la meta de su vida. ¡Mis bendiciones para ustedes! (Discurso Divino, 23 de noviembre de 1974) Embodiments of the Divine Self! You are celebrating today as the Birthday of Swami, and deriving divine bliss (ananda) through various programs carried on with enthusiasm; but in fact, I have no wish to consider this as a special day! Such desire, does not exist in Me at any time, in this or any other sojourn. I need nothing, however great or small, in this Universe! I have come with one purpose: To reveal to everyone of you the mystery of your reality and the goal of your life! What you should place before Me as offering is Pure Love from within. When you offer Me that, I derive Ananda! From today, spend your days and years in activities that help and care for those who are in dire need, and make this human existence of yours worthwhile and fruitful.
