El águila es acosada por los cuervos mientras tiene un pez en su pico. Revolotean para robar el pescado de su boca. Persiguen al pájaro donde sea que se siente para descansar un poco. Al final, abandona el apego al pez y lo deja caer de su pico. Los cuervos vuelan detrás de él y dejan libre al águila. Por lo tanto, dejen de lado los placeres de los sentidos y los cuervos del orgullo, la envidia, la malicia y el odio volarán, porque solo quieren carroña. De lo contrario, en ese momento, llorarán cuando piensen en la casa que han construido, las propiedades que han acumulado, la fama que han amasado y las bagatelas que han ganado. Sepan que todo esto es para un momento fugaz: desarrollen apego por el Señor, quien

The eagle is pestered by crows so long as it has a fish in its beak. They swish past that to steal the fish out of its mouth. They pursue the bird wherever it sits for a little rest. At last, it gives up the attachment to the fish and drops it from its beak; the crows fly behind it and leave the eagle free. So, leave off sense pleasures and the crows of pride, envy, malice and hatred will fly away, for they want only carrion. Practise renunciation from now on, so that you may set out on the journey when the call comes, and you never know when that will happen. Else at that moment, you will be in tears, when you think of the house you have built, the property you have accumulated, the fame you have amassed, and the trifles you have won. Know that all this is for the fleeting moment: develop attachment for the Lord, who will be with you wherever you go. (Divine Discourse, Oct 10, 1964)

El amor de Dios es totalmente desinteresado. Es absolutamente puro, eterno y sin defectos. El amor humano es egocéntrico y está contaminado. Semejante amor no puede fusionarse con el amor de Dios. Solo cuando estén libres de egoísmo, orgullo, odio y envidia, Dios morará en ustedes. Sin tyaaga (renunciación), si una persona está inmersa en los placeres mundanos y lleva una vida trivial, toda su devoción es solo artificial y una especie de autoengaño. Tal devoción no lo conducirá a uno a Dios. Hoy el mundo está lleno de tales personas. La gente afirma que ama a Dios. Pero todos aman a Dios por el propio bien y no por el bien de Dios. Esto es puro egoísmo. Ustedes buscan todas las cosas del mundo por su propio bien. Incluso Dios es buscado por tal razón. Dios no puede ser alcanzado tan fácilmente. El corazón tiene un solo asiento. En él,
hay espacio para una sola persona. Si instalan deseos mundanos en esa silla, ¿cómo pueden esperar que Dios se siente en ella? Dios entrará en ese asiento solo si lo vacían de todas las otras cosas. Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Divino Discurso del 12 de Agosto de 1992.

 

God’s love is totally selfless. It is absolutely pure, eternal and flawless. Human love is self-centred and tainted. Such a love cannot merge with God’s love. It is only when you are free from egoism, pride, hatred and envy that God will abide in you. Without tyaaga (renunciation) if a person is immersed in worldly pleasures and leads a mundane life, all his devotion is only artificial and a kind of self-deception. Such devotion will not lead one to God. Today the world is full of such persons. People claim that they are loving God. But everyone loves God for one’s own sake and not for the sake of God. This is pure selfishness. You seek all things in the world for your own sake. Even God is sought for such a reason. God cannot be got so easily. The heart has only a single seat. There is room in it for only one person. If you install worldly desires on that chair, how can you expect God to sit on it? God will enter that seat only if you empty it

Tendrán que seguir el camino de Radha, Meera, Gouranga y Tukaram. Deben sentir una afinidad inseparable con el Señor, tan inseparable como la ola y el mar. Ustedes realmente son de la misma esencia, el mismo sabor, la misma calidad que el mar, aunque tienen el nombre y la forma de la ola. El Señor es la forma con atributos (aspecto Saguna) de Paramatma (Ser Supremo), que es el Universo. La mantequilla, cuando está en la leche, es inmanente en ella, y no tiene ni nombre ni forma separada; pero, cuando convierten la leche en cuajada y la extraen, tiene un nombre y una forma que la diferencian de la leche. El Ghee (mantequilla clarificada) también, cuando está líquido, no tiene una forma particular, pero cuando se solidifica, obtiene una forma. Así también, Madhava-tatwam (la esencia Divina) cuando asume una forma, es Manava (forma humana).Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Divino Discurso del 10

You will have to follow the path of Radha, Meera, Gouranga and Tukaram. You must feel an inseparable affinity with the Lord, as inseparable as the wave and the sea. You are really of the same essence, the same taste, the same quality as the sea, though you have the name and form of the wave. The Lord is the form with attributes (Saguna aspect) of the Paramatma (Supreme Being), that is the Universe. Butter, when in the milk, is immanent in it, and has no separate name and form; but, when you convert milk to curd and take it out, it has a name and form which makes it distinct from milk. Ghee (clarified butter) too when liquid has no particular form, but when it solidifies, it gets a form. So too Madhava-tatwam (the Divine essence) when it assumes a form, is Manava (Human form). Adi Shankara pregunta, “¿Quién eres?, ¿quién soy yo?, ¿de dónde vine?, ¿a dónde voy?, ¿cuál es la naturaleza y propósito de todo este movimiento y cambio?, ¿hay alguna base estable, alguna meta, dirección o director?” (Kasthwam, koham, kutha ayatah?) No aparten de su mente estas preguntas. Cada uno de ustedes las recibe y los acosan, cuando están a solas con algo grandioso e imponente en la Naturaleza, o con algún incidente terrible o impactante en su experiencia personal. Es imprudente privarse de estos momentos preciosos y volver nuevamente a la monotonía de la vida, sin proseguir la indagación a la que son empujados. El Gurú viene para advertir y despertar. Él revela la Verdad y los alienta a avanzar hacia ella. A menos que tengan el anhelo, el corazón inquisitivo y la inteligencia buscadora,
Él no puede hacer demasiado. Los hambrientos pueden ser alimentados; aquel que no tiene hambre desechará la comida como una imposición. Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Divino Discurso del 14 de Julio de 1965.

 

Adi Shankara asks, «Who are you, who am I, where did I come from, where am I going, what is the nature and purpose of all this movement and change, is there any stable base, any goal, direction or director? (Kasthwam, koham, kutha ayatah?) Do not brush aside these questions from your mind. Each one of you gets this and it harasses you, when you are alone with something grand and awe-inspiring in Nature, or with some terrible or shocking incident in your own experience. It is unwise to forgo these precious moments and turn again to the humdrum of life, without pursuing the inquiry to which you are prompted. Guru comes to warn and awaken. He reveals the truth and encourages you to progress towards it. Unless you have the yearning, the questioning heart, and the seeking intelligence, he cannot do much. The hungry can be fed; the one without hunger will discard food as an infliction. (Divine Discourse, Jul 14, 1965)
