En el Bhagavad Gita hay dos axiomas de ocho sílabas, que cada uno de ustedes debe tomar muy en serio: Shraddavan labhate Jnanam y Samshayaathma vinashyati. El primero les dice que la persona estable en su fe gana el conocimiento del camino a la liberación, y el segundo advierte contra las siniestras consecuencias de la duda. La duda conduce a la perdición y la ruina espiritual. Reflexionen sobre estos axiomas, y practiquen la disciplina espiritual de su elección: meditación, cantar el nombre de Dios, etc. Ustedes pagan con baratijas y solicitan la Gracia, la cual sólo se consigue a muy alto precio. ¡Eso es pura avaricia! Pueden proclamar que han estado viniendo o residiendo en Puttaparthi durante muchos años, pero no son los años lo que importa; es la profundidad a la que hayan crecido las raíces del karma en los nacimientos previos. There are two eight-syllabled axioms in the Bhagavad Gita, which every one of you must take to heart: Shraddhavan labhate Jnanam and Samshayaathma vinashyati. The first tells you that the person who is steady in faith gains the knowledge of the path of liberation, and the second warns against the sinister consequence of doubt! Doubt leads to doom and spiritual ruin. Dwell on these axioms and practice the spiritual discipline of your choice – meditation, chanting God’s name, etc. You pay only trash and ask for grace which is available only at a very high cost. It is sheer avarice! You may claim that you have been coming to or staying in Puttaparthi for many years but it is not the years that matter; it is the depth to which the roots of karma have grown in previous births. The Sadhana (spiritual effort) of Karma and Upasana (actions and worship) leads to Jnana (Knowledge). (Divine Discourse, Oct 11, 1964)

El lapso de edad entre los 16 y los 30 años es crucial, por ser el período en que la vida cobra dulzura, cuando los talentos, habilidades y actitudes son acumuladas, sublimadas y santificadas. Si durante este período se administra a la mente el tónico del servicio desinteresado (seva), la misión de la vida queda cumplida, porque el proceso de sublimación y santificación será apresurado por este tónico. No sirvan movidos por la recompensa, por llamar la atención o recibir gratitud, ni por un sentido de orgullo ante su propia superioridad en habilidades, riqueza, estatus o autoridad. Sirvan porque son impulsados por el amor. Si caen, y cuando caigan, achaquen la falla a su propia deficiencia, insinceridad o ignorancia. Examinen las causas de la acción; desinféctelas de todo rastro de ego. No culpen a los beneficiarios del seva, ni a sus colaboradores y compañeros
de trabajo, ni a Dios. Cuando tengan éxito, adjudíquenlo a la Gracia de Dios, quien los impulsó como amor surgido de su propio interior. (Discurso Divino, 19 de mayo de 1969)

 

The age span 16-30 years is crucial, for that is the period when life adds sweetness to itself, when talents, skills and attitudes are accumulated, sublimated and sanctified. If the tonic of unselfish service (seva) is administered to the mind during this period, life’s mission is fulfilled, for the process of sublimation and sanctification will be hastened by this tonic. Do not serve for the sake of reward, attracting attention, or earning gratitude, or from a sense of pride at your own superiority in skill, wealth, status or authority. Serve because you are urged by love. If and when you fail, ascribe the failure to your own inadequacy, insincerity or ignorance. Examine the springs of action; disinfect them from all trace of ego. Do not throw the blame on the recipients of the seva, or on your collaborators and co-workers, or on God. When you succeed, ascribe the success to the Grace of God, who urged you on, as love from within you. (Divine

¡Encarnaciones del Uno Mismo Divino! Hoy la situación del mundo es terrible y pavorosa. Miren donde miren, el miedo los enfrenta. Ya sea que se queden en casa o salgan a la calle, ya sea que viajen en tren o caminen por la carretera, el miedo los acosa. El mundo está envuelto en miedo. Si quieren desterrar este miedo, deben desarrollar la firme fe en que Dios es el único refugio. Entonces estarán libres del miedo. Hagan su trabajo, despojándose de todo temor, y sin preocupación alguna por el futuro. Láncense a las actividades de servicio con valor y decisión. Si actúan con esta fe inconmovible, podrán servir bien a su familia, a la nación y al universo entero. No es su capacidad intelectual lo que servirá para proteger al país. Si adhieren a la Verdad y a la Rectitud, ellos los protegerán a ustedes, a su familia y al país. Vivan a la altura
de la verdad de su propio ser. ¡Actúen siempre con rectitud! (Discurso Divino, 19 de noviembre de 1990)

 

Embodiments of the Divine Self! The situation in the world today is dreadful and frightening. Wherever you turn, fear confronts you. Whether you remain at home or go out into the street, whether you travel by train or walk on the road, fear haunts you. The world is enveloped in fear. If you want to banish this fear, you must develop firm faith in God as the sole refuge. Then you will be freed from fear. Carry on your work shedding all fear and without any worry about the future. Plunge into service activities with courage and determination. If you act with this unshakeable faith, you will be able to serve your family, the nation and the Universe well. It is not your intellectual ability that will serve to protect the country. If you adhere to Truth and Righteousness, they will protect you, your family and the country. Live up to the truth of your being. Always act righteously! (Divine Discourse, Nov 19, 1990)

Todos deben desarrollar el espíritu de tyaga (sacrificio). Ustedes deben servir a los demás, mediante el cuerpo que Dios les dio. En su mente deben abrigar sólo pensamientos buenos y nobles. Deben usar su riqueza para sostener instituciones educativas y de otros tipos, que ayuden a la gente. Ofrezcan alimentos a los que padecen hambre y a los indigentes. Esta es la manera de llevar una vida sublime, llena de propósito. No se les ha dado la vida para que se pongan gordos. El cuerpo es el instrumento básico para la práctica del Dharma (los deberes). Dediquen todo su tiempo al servicio y al cumplimiento de sus deberes. Su Sadhana (esfuerzo espiritual) no debe tener fines egoístas. Debe promover el bien de los demás. Santifiquen su vida mediante el abandono del egoísmo y el cultivo del amor desinteresado hacia los demás. Sólo Dios puede transformar su esfuerzo espiritual en una
experiencia transcendental. Ustedes ya tienen la visión de la Divinidad (sakshatkara). La visión no viene de afuera. Está dentro de ustedes, porque la Divinidad es omnipresente. (Discurso Divino, 7 de julio de 1990)

 

Everyone must develop the spirit of tyaga (sacrifice). You must serve others through the God-gifted body. You must cherish only good and noble thoughts in your mind. You must use your wealth for supporting educational and other institutions to help the people. Offer food to the starving and needy. This is the way to lead a purposeful and sublime life. Life has been given to you not to fatten yourself. The body is the basic instrument for the practice of Dharma (duties). Dedicate your entire time to service and the discharge of your duties. Your Sadhana (spiritual efforts) must not be for selfish ends. It must promote the good of others. Sanctify your lives by giving up selfishness and cultivating selfless love for others. God alone can transform your spiritual efforts into a transcendental experience. You already have the vision of the Divine (sakshatkara). The vision does not come from outside. It is within you, because the Divine is omnipresent.
