La suprema «Shakti» (Energía) se manifiesta en la forma de Durga, Lakshmi y Saraswati. Durga nos otorga energía física, mental y espiritual. Lakshmi nos confiere riquezas de muchas clases, no solamente dinero sino riqueza intelectual, de carácter, de salud, y demás. Ella nos otorga bienes inimaginables, mientras que Saraswati nos da inteligencia, capacidad para indagación intelectual y poder de discriminación. Tu propia madre es la combinación de todos estos seres Divinos. La vida de una persona que no puede respetar y amar a su propia venerable madre es totalmente inservible. Tu madre te provee de energía, bienestar e inteligencia, y constantemente desea nuestro progreso en la vida, por lo que representa a las tres diosas que adoramos durante la festividad de Navaratri. Reconoce a tu madre como la encarnación misma de todas las fuerzas divinas, demuéstrale reverencia y

The supreme Shakti manifests herself in the form of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati. Durga grants us energy – physical, mental and spiritual. Lakshmi bestows on us wealth of many kinds, not just money but intellectual wealth, the wealth of character, the wealth of health and so on. She grants untold riches to us. And Saraswati bestows on us intelligence, the capacity for intellectual enquiry and the power of discrimination. Your own mother is the combination of all these Divine beings. The life of a person who cannot respect and love one’s own venerable mother is utterly useless. Your mother provides you with energy, wealth and intelligence. She constantly desires our advancement in life. So she represents all the three goddesses that we worship during the Navaratri festival. Recognising your mother as the very embodiment of all divine forces, show reverence to her and treat her with love. This is the true message of Navaratri.

La palabra «yajna» significa sacrificio, y ese es el propósito principal del «yajna». Sacrificas riquezas, bienestar, poder (ya que todo eso promueve el ego) y te fundes en lo Infinito. Ese es el logro y la conclusión. Los «yajnas» son útiles porque apuntalan el ideal del sacrificio y condenan la adquisición de objetos. Enfatizan la disciplina, anteponiéndola a la distracción. Insisten en concentrar en Dios la mente, la lengua, y la mano. Los cínicos cuentan las bolsas de granos y los kilos de «ghee» (manteca) que ofrecen, ¡y piden como contraprestación más bolsas y kilos de alegría y felicidad ! Los efectos del «yajna» en el carácter y en la toma de conciencia no pueden ser medidos o pesados en metros o gramos. Son inmensurables, a pesar de ser reales y experimentables. El grano y la manteca que se ofrecen en el fuego sagrado, acompañando las fórmulas
Védicas, producen retornos de a miles, purificando y fortaleciendo la atmósfera por todo el mundo. (Divino Discurso, 7 Octubre 1970).

 

The word ‘yajna’ means sacrifice; that is the primary purpose of the yajna. You sacrifice riches, comfort, power (all that promotes the ego) and merge in the Infinite. That is the attainment and the end. Yajnas are useful because they support the ideal of sacrifice, and condemn acquisition. They emphasise discipline, rather than distraction. They insist on the concentration of the mind, the tongue and the hand on Godhead. Cynics count the bags of grain and the kilograms of ghee, and ask for more bags and kilograms of contentment and happiness in return! The effects of yajna on the character and the consciousness cannot be measured or weighed in metres or grams. It is immeasurable, though actual and experienceable. The grain and ghee offered in the sacred fire to the accompaniment of Vedic formulae give thousandfold returns; they will cleanse and strengthen the atmosphere all over the world. Reza intensamente y con fe. De esa forma, la Gracia se derramará sobre ti. Cuando tu corazón está empapado de Amor, no puede ser contaminado por el egoísmo y sus negativas consecuencias. Así como anhelas salud física – lo que significa salud para los miembros del cuerpo – también deberías buscar la salud de la humanidad, lo que significa paz y alegría para todos los sectores de la sociedad en todas las naciones. Si te compenetras de esa perspectiva más amplia, comenzarás a pensar menos y menos en tus propios problemas y a preocuparte más y más por las vicisitudes de otros. Esa es tu ofrenda inicial en el gran «Yajna» (sacrificio ritual) que llaman «vivir». Deberías fusionar tu bienestar con el del mundo, porque ¿cómo puedes estar feliz cuando tu vecino está en la miseria ? Por esa razón te exhorto a dejar de orar solamente
por tu propio bien. Ora por la paz, la prosperidad y la felicidad de toda la humanidad, sin importar la región o la raza. (Divino Discurso, 7 Octubre 1970).

 

Pray intensely and with faith. Then, Grace will be showered on you. When your heart is soaked in Love, it cannot be contaminated by egoism and its evil consequences. Just as you crave for physical health, which means health for the limbs of the body, you should strive for the health of humanity, which means peace and joy for all sections of society in all nations. If you dwell in that wider outlook, you will start feeling less and less for your own troubles and worrying more and more about the troubles of others. That is the initial offering of yourself in the great ‘yajna’ (ritual sacrifice) called ‘living.’ You should merge your welfare with the welfare of the world. How can you be happy when your neighbour is in misery? Therefore I call upon you to give up praying for your own advancement; pray for the peace, prosperity and happiness of all humanity, irrespective of clime or colour. (Divine Discourse, Dasara, Oct

Entre todas las formas de prácticas espirituales, la de la devoción o «Bhakti» es la más sencilla y más santa. «Bhakti» proviene de la raíz «Bhaj» con el sufijo «ti», y denota un sentimiento de amistad aunado a un temor reverencial. Alguien que es producto de atributos o «gunas» precisa una actitud de humildad y reverencia para comprender lo que trasciende a los «gunas». «Bhakti» requiere utilizar la mente, el habla y el cuerpo para adorar al Señor, porque representa amor total. La devoción y el amor son inseparables e interdependientes. El sabio Narada declaró que «Bhakti» es adorar al Señor con un amor ilimitado. Vyasa sostuvo, por su parte, que es efectuar adoración con amor y glorificación. El sabio Garga expresó que es servir al Señor con pureza de mente, de habla y de cuerpo. Yajnavalkya acotó que la verdadera «Bhakti» consiste en controlar la
mente, volviéndola hacia adentro y disfrutando la bienaventuranza de la comunión con lo Divino. A pesar de que muchos sabios han expresado diferentes puntos de vista sobre la naturaleza de «Bhakti», la característica básica de la devoción es el Amor, y «Bhakti» es el sendero a la salvación.

Amongst all forms of spiritual practices, devotion or Bhakti is the easiest and holiest. Bhakti is derived from the root ‘Bhaj’, with the suffix ‘ti.’ It denotes a feeling of friendship coupled with awe. For someone who is a product of the attributes or gunas, to understand what transcends the gunas, an attitude of humility and reverence is required. Bhakti calls for utilising the mind, speech and body to worship the Lord. It represents total love. Devotion and love are inseparable and interdependent. Sage Narada declared that worshipping the Lord with boundless love is Bhakti. Vyasa held that it is performing worship with love and adoration. Sage Garga declared that it is serving the Lord with purity of mind, speech and body. Yajnavalkya held that true Bhakti consists in controlling the mind, turning it inwards and enjoying the bliss of communion with the Divine. Although many sages have expressed different views
about the nature of Bhakti, the basic characteristic of devotion is Love. Bhakti is the path to salvation. (Divine Discourse, Oct 8, 1986)
