Ustedes deben hacer ofrendas al Señor, pero no con las flores que crecen en las plantas; eso recompensa a las plantas, no a ustedes. El Señor quiere que Le ofrezcan el loto que florece en el lago de sus corazones, la fruta que madura en el árbol de su carrera terrenal, ¡no el loto ni la fruta que consiguen en el mercado! Puede que pregunten: «¿Dónde podemos encontrar al Señor?» Bien, Él ha proporcionado Su dirección, en el capítulo 18, estrofa 61, del Bhagavad Gita. Allí declara: «Oh, Arjuna, el Señor reside en el corazón de todos los seres». (Ishwara Sarva Bhutanam hridesse, Arjuna, thisthathi). Ahora bien, después de saber esto, ¿cómo pueden despreciar a cualquier ser viviente, o cómo pueden deleitarse en odiar, o permitirse el pasatiempo de ridiculizar? Cada individuo está cargado de la Divina Presencia y movido por los
atributos divinos de amor, honor y amistad; éstos son los que cada persona merece de ustedes. Denlos en abundancia. (Discurso Divino, 16 de abril de 1964)

 

You must offer the Lord, not the flowers that plants grow; that will reward the plant, not you! The Lord wants you to offer the lotus that blooms in the lake of your heart, the fruit that ripens on the tree of your earthly career, not the lotus and the fruit available in the marketplace! You may ask, «Where can we find the Lord?» Well, He has given His address, in Chapter 18, Sloka 61 of the Bhagavad Gita. He declares, «O Arjuna, the Lord resides in the heart of all beings» (Ishwara Sarva Bhutanam hriddese, Arjuna, thisthathi). Now, after knowing this, how can you look down on any living being in contempt or how can you revel in hating or indulge in the pastime of ridiculing? Every individual is charged with the Divine Presence, moved by Divine attributes. Love, honour, friendliness – these are what each one deserves from you. Give these in full measure. La mansión llamada vida debe ser construida sobre cimientos fuertes; la búsqueda de artha (riquezas) y kama (deseo), de objetos y bienestar, debe estar regulada por el Dharma (la rectitud). El Dharma protege a quienes lo protegen (Dharmo rakshati rakshitah). El cimiento más fuerte es la fe en Dios. Algunos pueden preguntar: «Si Dios es todopoderoso, ¿por qué no es visible?» Bien, Dios sólo Se revela a aquellos que anhelan una respuesta, no a quienes solicitan la revelación con insolencia o ignorancia. Dios es visible sólo en cada corazón transparente, sin nubes de egoísmo ni apego. El hilo del rosario sólo es visible en las cuentas de cristal, no en las de coral o rudraksha, aunque también atraviese estas últimas. Las miles de personas que se hallan ante Mí son otras tantas flores, enhebradas en ese único hilo que es Brahman (la Divinidad). En
Brahman todos ustedes encuentran la unidad, la unidad que no hallaban estando absortos en su propia separación.

The mansion called life must be built on strong foundations; the pursuit of artha (wealth) and kama (desire) for objects and welfare, must be regulated by Dharma (righteousness). Dharma fosters those who foster it (Dharmo rakshati rakshitah). The strongest foundation is ever-present faith in God. Some may ask, «If God is Almighty, why is He not patent?» Well, God reveals Himself only to those who yearn for an answer, not to those who ask with impudence or ignorance. God is patent only in every transparent heart that is not clouded by egoism or attachment. The string of the rosary is patent only in the crystal beads, not on the coral or rudraksha beads, though it runs through these latter too. All the thousands of individuals here before Me now are so many thousand flowers, strung on that one thread, Brahman (Divinity). Jesucristo ejemplificó diversas cualidades nobles. Con un corazón amoroso, protegió a muchas personas pobres y necesitadas. Jesús obtuvo renombre al sacrificar Su cuerpo en la cruz. También ustedes deben estar dispuestos a sacrificios de esa magnitud. Deben purificar su corazón con amor desinteresado. Lleven una vida llena de amor y sacrificio. Nunca se permitan injuriar a otros, porque la misma Atma impregna a cada ser viviente. Si insultan a los demás, se insultan a sí mismos. Si ellos no les agradan, mantengan distancia, pero nunca los insulten. Por bueno que sea el trabajo que ustedes hacen, de nada sirve si no abandonan las malas cualidades. Puede que no cedan siempre a los requerimientos de los demás, pero siempre pueden hablar con cortesía. Nadie puede escapar del dolor y el sufrimiento. Hoy es alguna otra persona, pero mañana pueden ser ustedes. Por lo tanto, si
hallan a alguien que sufre, procuren ayudarlo.

Jesus Christ exemplified several noble qualities. He gave protection to several poor and destitute people with a loving heart. Jesus earned such a good name by sacrificing His body on the cross. You also must be prepared for such a great sacrifice. You must purify your heart with selfless love. Lead a life full of love and sacrifice! Never indulge in reviling others, for the same atma is permeating in every living being. If you abuse others, it amounts to abusing your own self. If you do not like them, keep yourself away from them, but never abuse them! Any amount of good work done by you will be of no use, if you do not give up bad qualities. You may not always oblige others’ requests, but you can always speak obligingly. Nobody can escape from pain and suffering. Today it is that person, tomorrow it could be you. Therefore if you find someone suffering, try to help. [Divine Discourse, Dec 25, 2002]
