Cuando el ojo ve a alguien que es considerado por uno como su enemigo, hay una erupción de mala voluntad en la mente. Por el contrario, cuando uno ve a un amigo querido, la reacción es de amor y afecto. Lo mismo que en el caso de las cosas que uno ve, lo que oimos también puede tener buenos o malos efectos. El poder de las palabras para influenciar la mente es aún mayor. Los grandes Pronunciamientos Védicos como «Aham Brahmasmi» (Yo Soy Divino), o «Tat-Twam-Asi» (Tú Eres Aquel), y «Ayam Atma Brahma» (Este Yo es Dios), proveen inspiración para apuntar hacia la meta más elevada. Tales Pronunciamientos no deberían ser interpretados o usados de ninguna forma para inflar el propio ego. Cada expresión está cargada de un poder que le es propio. Cuando las palabras son abusivas y vulgares provocan excitación, ira o depresión, pero cuando las palabras que se emiten son
sagradas, generan un poder santificante y elevador. La alegría o desconsuelo experimentados por la mente son el resultado de las impresiones transmitidas por los sentidos. (Divino Discurso – 31 Julio 1986).

 

When the eye sees someone who is regarded as an enemy, there is an upsurge of ill-will in the mind. On the other hand, when one sees a dear friend the reaction is one of love and affection. As in the case of things seen, what we hear can also have bad or good effects. The power of words to influence the mind is even more. Great Vedic pronouncements like Aham Brahmasmi (I am Divine), Tat-Twam-Asi (Thou Art That) and Ayam Atma Brahma (This Self is God) provide inspiration to aim at the highest goal. They should not be construed or used in any manner to inflate one’s ego. Every expression is charged with a power of its own. When the words are abusive and vulgar, they arouse excitement, anger or depression. But when the words used are sacred, they generate a sanctifying and elevating power. The joy or distress experienced by the mind is the result of the impressions conveyed by the senses. [Divine Discourse, Jul 31, 1986]

El amor verdadero es invaluable si no tiene traza de egoísmo, porque es puro, incontaminado y no cambia. Es espontáneo, siempre crece y nunca disminuye. El amor de Dios es de una naturaleza semejante: espontáneo, desprovisto de egoísmo, inmutable y siempre completo. El amor humano habitual, motivado por consideraciones egoístas, está sujeto a cambios según varíen los tiempos y las circunstancias. El amor puro se reviste de un manto de Verdad y no cederá ante las fuerzas de la envidia o el odio, sin importar cuán poderosas puedan ser estas. El amor prevalece sobre todas las negatividades. En tu búsqueda de una vida buena y divina puede que encuentres muchas dificultades y disturbios, al tiempo que te surjan dudas e interrogantes. Sólo comprenderás al Amor Divino cuando enfrentes las dificultades con decisión y sobrelleves los problemas con paciencia y
fortaleza. Nunca permitas que te abrumen los inconvenientes y las tristezas, las dudas y los desengaños. Ten fe, confianza en ti mismo, y esfuérzate por ganar el amor de Dios. ¡El poder transformador del amor puro no tiene límites ! (Divino Discurso – 25 Diciembre 1984)

 

True Love is priceless with no trace of selfishness. It is pure, unsullied and does not change. It is spontaneous, always grows and never diminishes. God’s Love is of such a nature: spontaneous, free from selfishness, unwavering and always full. Ordinary human love, motivated by selfish considerations, is liable to change with changes in time and circumstances. Pure Love wears the mantle of Truth and will not submit to the forces of envy or hatred however powerful they may be. Love prevails over all negativities. In the pursuit of the good and godly life, you may encounter many difficulties and disturbances. Doubts and questions may also crop up. Only when you face difficulties squarely and bear troubles with patience and fortitude, you will understand Divine Love. Never allow yourself to be overwhelmed by difficulties and sorrows, doubts and disappointments. Have faith, confidence in yourself and strive to secure God’s love. The
transforming power of pure Love is boundless! [Divine Discourse, Dec 25, 1984]

Entre las cualidades que constituyen un carácter perfecto, las más altas y que deben ser reverenciadas son el amor, la paciencia, la tolerancia, la perseverancia y la caridad. Las cien pequeñas acciones en las que te involucras cada día se van convirtiendo en hábitos, y estos hábitos moldean tu forma de ver la vida. Todo lo que tú tejes en tu imaginación, todo lo que buscas y anhelas, deja una impresión indeleble en tu mente y forma una imagen de «tu» mundo, al que terminas apegándote. Pero sin importar cuál sea tu carácter hoy, éste puede ser ciertamente modificado al cambiar tus modelos de pensamientos. La maldad de alguien no es algo incorregible. ¿Acaso el ladrón Angulimala no fue convertido por Buddha en una persona bondadosa ? ¿Y el delincuente Rathnakara no se transformó en el sabio Valmiki ? Tienes a tu alcance la
capacidad de desafiar a tus propias inclinaciones y cambiarlas. Mediante el servicio inegoísta, la renunciación, la devoción y la oración, los viejos hábitos pueden ser desechados y reemplazados por otros nuevos que te conduzcan por el sendero divino. (Prema Vahini, Capítulo 2).

 

Amongst the qualities that make up a flawless character, love, patience, forbearance, steadfastness, and charity are the highest, and must be revered. The hundred little deeds you indulge in everyday harden into habits; these habits mould your outlook towards life. All that you weave in your imagination, seek and yearn leave an indelible imprint on your mind and form a picture of ‘your» world and then you get attached to it. But whatever is your character today, it can certainly be modified by changing your thought pattern. The wickedness of somebody is not incorrigible. Wasn’t the robber Angulimala turned into a kindhearted person by Buddha? Didn’t thief Rathnakara become Sage Valmiki? You have within your reach, the capacity to challenge your own evil propensities and change them. By selfless service, renunciation, devotion and prayer, old habits can be discarded and replaced by new habits that take you along the divine

Dios no es diferente de la fe. La fe y Dios son uno. El amor es Dios, la devoción es Dios. No son entidades separadas. ¿Qué significa devoción ? La devoción es aquello que permite – al Principio Divino No Manifestado – manifestarse en la visión interior del devoto. Así, para el devoto puro no existe nada más que Dios. Para alcanzar ese estado debes realizar tus deberes teniendo a Dios de continuo en la mente. Para cruzar el vasto y profundo océano de la existencia mundana precisas del pequeño bote que es el Nombre de Dios. Al comienzo del viaje espiritual, el Nombre del Señor es la piedra basal para el progreso, pero deberías evolucionar gradualmente desde el Nombre hacia el amoroso servicio a Dios en todo momento. Cualquier servicio que prestes, no lo sientas como algo hecho para otros sino como un servicio a Dios mismo. Incluso mientras estés sirviendo comida
a tu familia o a una persona necesitada, considera que Dios se ha presentado bajo esa forma y que tú estás sirviendo esa comida a Dios mismo. (Divino Discurso, 30 marzo 1987)

 

God is not different from faith. Faith and God are one and the same. Love is God, Devotion is God – they are not different entities. What does devotion mean? Devotion is that which enables the unmanifest Divine Principle to manifest itself in the devotee’s inner vision. Then, for the pure devotee nothing exists other than God. To reach that stage you must discharge your duties keeping God in mind constantly. To cross the vast, deep ocean of worldly existence, you need the small boat of God’s Name. In the beginning of the spiritual journey, Lord’s name is the foundation for progress, but it should evolve gradually into loving service to God at all times. Whatever service you render, do not feel that you are serving others, but you are serving God Himself. Even while serving food to your family or to a needy person, consider that God has come in that form and you are offering it to God Himself. [Divine Discourse, March 30
