Los antiguos sabios que experimentaron la fragancia de la Divinidad, buscaron la forma. Lo buscaron a Él por selvas y montes. Habían renunciado a todo y habían hecho muchos sacrificios, pero no podían hallar la fuente. Algunos incluso abandonaron a medio camino,sintiéndose satisfechos con la fragancia que habían experimentado. Sin embargo, otros, con decisión inexorable, pudieron hallar finalmente la flor. Hubo quienes no pudieron experimentar ni siquiera la fragancia, debido a un «fuerte resfriado», y fueron llamados ateos. Aunque tenían la nariz, no podían experimentar la fragancia de la divina bienaventuranza; ellos son ciertamente los infortunados. Pero aquellos que pudieron experimentar esta dicha, exclamaron en éxtasis: «Vedahametham Purusham Mahantam (Hemos tomado conciencia de la Personalidad Suprema de la Divinidad)». ¿Cómo se la percibe? En cada ser humano,
la bienaventuranza o Ananda emana del corazón, así como emana la fragancia de una flor. El corazón es en verdad completo y pleno. (Discurso Divino, 29 de abril de 1998)

 

Ancient sages who experienced the fragrance of the Divine searched for the form. They sought Him in forests and bushes. They had renounced everything and made a lot of sacrifices, still they could not find the source. Some even gave up midway, being satisfied with the fragrance that they had experienced. But others, with relentless determination, were able to find the flower eventually. There were yet others who could not experience the fragrance itself due to ‘severe cold’, and were termed atheists. Even though they had the nose they could not experience the fragrance of divine Bliss; they indeed are the unfortunate ones. But those who were able to experience this bliss exclaimed in ecstasy, “Vedahametham Purusham Mahantam (We have realised the Supreme Personality of the Godhead).” How is one to realise this? In every human being, the bliss or Ananda emanates from the heart, just as fragrance from a flower. The heart truly is
complete and full. (Divine Discourse, Apr 29, 1998)

Una sola casa tiene ahora diez facciones y partidos. Aquellos que no pueden reformar sus propios hogares han comenzado a reformar el país, y están aconsejando a los demás sobre cooperación y vida armoniosa. El conocimiento del Atma como la verdadera base de todos los seres está actualmente olvidado, y esta es la causa de toda la inquietud, la confusión y la crisis moral de hoy. La declinación en la disciplina de pensar constantemente en el Señor (namasmarana) es la causa fundamental de la declinación de este país. Es para despertar a los durmientes y comunicarles este mensaje, que Dios desciende. Si alguien los llama débiles, no le crean. Ustedes tienen inteligencia, disciplina, capacidad espiritual, conciencia de la excelencia de otros, conocimiento de sus propias faltas y disposición a mejorarse a sí mismos. ¿Cómo pueden entonces ser llamados
débiles? Recuerden: una vida de oración no se rendirá ante la furia de la pasión; será una fuente de fortaleza y cooperación. Los bendigo a todos para que tengan vidas llenas de alegría y paz. (Discurso Divino, 9 de diciembre de 1963)

 

A single household now has ten factions and parties. Those who cannot reform their own homes have started reforming the country and are advising others about cooperation and harmonious living. Knowledge of the Atma as the very basis of all beings is now forgotten, and that is the cause for all the unrest, confusion, and moral crisis today! Decline in the discipline of constant thought of the Lord (namasmarana) is the root-cause of the decline of this country. It is to awaken the sleeping and communicate this message to them that God descends. If anyone calls you weak, do not believe it. You have intelligence, discipline, spiritual capacity, consciousness of others’ excellences, awareness of your faults, and eagerness to improve yourself — then how can you be called weak? Remember, a prayerful life will not yield to the fury of passion; it will be a source of strength and cooperation. I bless that all of you may have lives full of joy and

Les diré algo: el mejor cosmético para las mujeres es la virtud. Asignen importancia a nishta (la disciplina y la estabilidad), no a nashta (el desayuno o el alimento). Pueden pasar sin alimento, pero no sin disciplina. A partir de ahora, vivan una vida regular y disciplinada. Conviertan esto en un hábito y una armadura que los protegerá del daño. Recen a Dios y reciten cada día Su nombre, o mediten en Su gloria, durante un período de tiempo prefijado; hallarán esto ampliamente provechoso. No digan «Quiero saborear la recompensa, y después comenzaré la práctica espiritual». Practiquen, y la experiencia vendrá; debe venir. Si desean que los demás los honren, ustedes deben honrarlos también. Si otros deben servirlos, sírvanlos primero a ellos. El amor engendra amor; la confianza genera confianza. Engrandecerse a uno mismo y ser egoísta,
conducen al desastre. De hecho, ninguna alegría puede igualar la alegría de servir a los demás. (Discurso Divino, 9 de diciembre de 1963)

 

Let Me tell you – the greatest beauty aid for women is virtue! Attach importance to nishta (discipline and steadiness) and not to nashta (breakfast or food)! You can miss food but not discipline. Live a regulated disciplined life from now on; make it a habit and an armour that will protect you from harm. Pray to God and recite His name or meditate on His glory for some fixed period of time every day; you will find it amply rewarding. Don’t say, “Let me have a taste of the reward, and then I shall start the spiritual practice.” Practise, and the experience will follow; it must follow. If you desire that others honour you, you should honour them too. If others must serve you, serve them first. Love begets love; trust engenders trust. Self-aggrandizement and selfishness will bring disaster. As a matter of fact, no joy can equal the joy of serving others. (Divine Discourse, Dec 09, 1963)

¿Qué lamentable fatalidad es esta? El pequeño ego del ser humano es arrojado por la mente y los sentidos a una enorme conflagración, y es atrapado en el fuego de la angustia. El egoísmo hace que la persona vea la gloria en logros insignificantes, la felicidad en adquisiciones triviales y la alegría en la temporaria autoridad sobre otros. Pero el Inmortal en su interior está esperando ser descubierto, para otorgar la dicha, y la liberación del nacimiento y de la muerte. Hay una técnica específica mediante la cual la chispa inmortal puede ser descubierta. Aunque pueda parecer difícil, cada paso hacia adelante hace más fácil el siguiente, y una mente preparada mediante la disciplina descubre en un relámpago que la Divinidad es la base de la Creación. No hay atajos hacia esta consumación. Ustedes deben abandonar todos los impedimentos que han
acumulado hasta ahora, y quedar ligeros para el viaje. La lujuria, la codicia, la maldad, el engreimiento, la envidia, el odio, todas estas bajas tendencias deben ser desechadas. (Discurso Divino, 8 de diciembre de 1964)

 

What a pitiable fate is this? The little ego in man is fed into a huge conflagration by the mind and the senses, and one is caught in the fire of distress. Egoism makes a person see glory in petty achievements, happiness in trivial acquisitions, and joy in temporary authority over others. But, the Immortal within is awaiting discovery to confer bliss and liberation from birth and death. There is a definite technique by which the Immortal spark can be discovered. Though it may appear difficult, each step forward makes the next one easier and a mind made ready by discipline, in a flash discovers that the Divine is the basis of creation. There is no shortcut to this consummation. You must give up all the impediments you have accumulated so far and become light for the journey. Lust, greed, anger, malice, conceit, envy, hate – all these pet tendencies must be shed. (Divine Discourse, Dec 8, 1964)
