Tendrán que seguir el camino de Radha, Meera, Gouranga y Tukaram. Deben sentir una afinidad inseparable con el Señor, tan inseparable como la ola y el mar. Ustedes realmente son de la misma esencia, el mismo sabor, la misma calidad que el mar, aunque tienen el nombre y la forma de la ola. El Señor es la forma con atributos (aspecto Saguna) de Paramatma (Ser Supremo), que es el Universo. La mantequilla, cuando está en la leche, es inmanente en ella, y no tiene ni nombre ni forma separada; pero, cuando convierten la leche en cuajada y la extraen, tiene un nombre y una forma que la diferencian de la leche. El Ghee (mantequilla clarificada) también, cuando está líquido, no tiene una forma particular, pero cuando se solidifica, obtiene una forma. You will have to follow the path of Radha, Meera, Gouranga and Tukaram. You must feel an inseparable affinity with the Lord, as inseparable as the wave and the sea. You are really of the same essence, the same taste, the same quality as the sea, though you have the name and form of the wave. The Lord is the form with attributes (Saguna aspect) of the Paramatma (Supreme Being), that is the Universe. Butter, when in the milk, is immanent in it, and has no separate name and form; but, when you convert milk to curd and take it out, it has a name and form which makes it distinct from milk. Ghee (clarified butter) too when liquid has no particular form, but when it solidifies, it gets a form. So too Madhava-tatwam (the Divine essence) when it assumes a form, is Manava (Human form). Adi Shankara pregunta, “¿Quién eres?, ¿quién soy yo?, ¿de dónde vine?, ¿a dónde voy?, ¿cuál es la naturaleza y propósito de todo este movimiento y cambio?, ¿hay alguna base estable, alguna meta, dirección o director?” (Kasthwam, koham, kutha ayatah?) No aparten de su mente estas preguntas. Cada uno de ustedes las recibe y los acosan, cuando están a solas con algo grandioso e imponente en la Naturaleza, o con algún incidente terrible o impactante en su experiencia personal. Es imprudente privarse de estos momentos preciosos y volver nuevamente a la monotonía de la vida, sin proseguir la indagación a la que son empujados. El Gurú viene para advertir y despertar. Él revela la Verdad y los alienta a avanzar hacia ella. A menos que tengan el anhelo, el corazón inquisitivo y la inteligencia buscadora,

Adi Shankara asks, «Who are you, who am I, where did I come from, where am I going, what is the nature and purpose of all this movement and change, is there any stable base, any goal, direction or director? (Kasthwam, koham, kutha ayatah?) Do not brush aside these questions from your mind. Each one of you gets this and it harasses you, when you are alone with something grand and awe-inspiring in Nature, or with some terrible or shocking incident in your own experience. It is unwise to forgo these precious moments and turn again to the humdrum of life, without pursuing the inquiry to which you are prompted. Guru comes to warn and awaken. He reveals the truth and encourages you to progress towards it. Unless you have the yearning, the questioning heart, and the seeking intelligence, he cannot do much. The hungry can be fed; the one without hunger will discard food as an infliction. (Divine Discourse, Jul 14, 1965)

Una debilidad fatal que les impide estar más cerca de experimentar a Dios, es dambha: engreimiento,egoísmo, orgullo, el deseo de que hablen de nosotros o nos alaben! Las personas se deleitan en hablar incansablemente acerca de sus logros y capacidades. ¡Quieren que sus nombres y acciones aparezcan en los diarios en grandes letras en negrita! Esto, de hecho, los vuelve ridículos y lamentables. No es en los periódicos en donde deben esforzarse por llamar la atención. ¡Ganen estatus en el reino de Dios; ganen fama en la compañía de los buenos y de los piadosos, progresen en humildad, en reverencia a los mayores y a los padres! Si están para siempre en la clase primaria trabajando sobre el A B C, ¿cómo pueden entender el significado de lo que los expertos enseñan?La Espiritualidad y la Divinidad están más allá del alcance de los sentidos y ustedes
deben escuchar, practicar y abrigar ideas nobles en sus mentes. Practiquen virtudes y vivan en alegría.Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

One fatal weakness that prevents you from getting closer to experiencing God is dambha: conceit, egoism, pride, the desire to be talked about or praised! People take delight in talking tirelessly about their achievements and capabilities. They want that their names and deeds should appear in the daily papers in big bold letters! This indeed makes them ludicrous and pitiable. It is not in the newspapers that you should strive to get attention. Earn status in the realm of God; earn fame in the company of the good and the godly, progress in humility, in reverence to elders and parents! If you are forever in the primary class labouring over A B C, how can you make out the meaning of what experts teach? Spirituality and Divinity is beyond the reach of the senses and you must listen, practice, and cherish noble ideals in your minds. Practise virtues and live in joy. (Divine Discourse, Oct 10, 1964)

Deberíamos temer al pecado y no a las dificultades. Debemos desarrollar Daiva preeti, Papa bheeti y Sangha neeti (miedo al pecado, amor por Dios y moralidad en la sociedad). En lugar de acrecentar el temor al pecado, somos esclavizados por el pecado. En lugar de buscar refugio en Dios, nos estamos entregando a las dificultades. La moralidad en la sociedad nos guiará al amor a Dios, que nos llevará a cambio al temor al pecado. En consecuencia, deberíamos sostener la moralidad en la sociedad y dedicarlo a Dios. El santo Thyagaraja cierta vez oró, «Oh Señor, estoy profundamente afectado por temor al pecado. Soy incapaz de entregarme a Tu amor. Por favor concédeme fortaleza de convicción para inclinarme ante Tu amor divino y bendíceme con fortaleza pata superar las dificultades». Cada verdadero devoto de Dios se debe abstener de actos pecaminosos y superar las penas y dificultades.

We should be afraid of sin, and not difficulties. We have to develop Daiva preeti, papa bheeti and Sangha neeti (fear of sin, love of God and morality in society). Instead of developing fear of sin, we are enslaved by sin. Instead of seeking refuge in God, we are submitting ourselves to difficulties. Morality in society will lead to love of God which will in turn lead to fear of sin. Hence, we should uphold morality in society and dedicate ourselves to God. Saint Thyagaraja once prayed, “Oh Lord, I am deeply concerned about the fear of sin. I am unable to surrender to Your love. Please grant me the strength of conviction to bow down before Your divine love and bless me with strength to overcome difficulties”. Every true devotee of God must abstain from sinful acts and overcome sorrows and difficulties. Strive to attain the treasure of pure devotion! (Divine Discourse, Aug 28, 2004)
