Veneren al Conocimiento como veneran a su padre, adoren al Amor como adoran a su madre, vincúlense cariñosamente con Dharma (la rectitud) como si fuera su hermano, confíen en Daya (la compasión) como si se tratara de su mejor amigo, tengan a Shantam (la calma) como su media naranja, y traten a Sahana (la fortaleza) como si fuera su hijo querido. Estos son sus auténticos familiares. Pasen el tiempo con ellos, vivan con ellos, no los abandonen ni descuiden. Vivir con estos parientes es la mejor receta. Esta es la mejor atmósfera para procurarse la disciplina y el desapego necesarios para el control de la mente. La mera oración no es suficiente. Tendrán que tragar y digerir el bocado que se pone en la boca; de nada sirve la repetición del nombre de la comida. La madre alimenta con amor, pero el niño debe tomar con avidez y deleite. Si una madre terrenal tiene tanto amor,
¿quién puede estimar el amor de la Madre de todos los seres, la Jagatjanani? (Divino Discurso, 9 de octubre de 1964)

 

Revere Knowledge as you revere your father, adore Love as you adore your mother, bond fondly with Dharma (righteousness) as if it is your own brother, confide in Daya (compassion) as if it is your dearest friend, have Shantam (calmness) as your better half, and treat Sahana (fortitude) as if it is your own beloved son. These are your genuine kith and kin. Move with them, live with them, do not forsake or neglect them. Living with these kinsmen is the best recipe. That is the best atmosphere to ensure the discipline and detachment needed for mind control. Mere prayer will not do. You will have to swallow and digest the morsel that is put into the mouth; repetition of the name of the dish is of no use. The mother feeds lovingly, but the child must take it in with avidity and relish. When an earthly mother has so much love, who can estimate the love of the Mother of all beings, the Jagatjanani?

Cultiven la cercanía a Mí en su corazón y serán recompensados. Entonces, también ustedes adquirirán una fracción del Amor Supremo. No pierdan el contacto y la compañía; porque, es solo cuando el carbón está en contacto con las brasas encendidas, que también puede convertirse en una brasa viva. Son verdaderamente afortunados, bendecidos con una gran oportunidad. Esta oportunidad no volverá a surgir en su camino, sean conscientes de eso. Si ustedes no pueden y no logran cruzar el mar de dolor ahora, ¿cuándo volverán a tener semejante oportunidad de nuevo? Dedíquense a la disciplina espiritual, a los pensamientos espirituales y a la compañía espiritual. Dejen que el pasado siga su camino. Al menos, a partir de ahora, busquen salvarse. Nunca cedan ante la duda o la inestabilidad. Que su mente no se agite; no permitan que la

Cultivate nearness to Me in your heart and you will be rewarded. Then you too will acquire a fraction of the Supreme Love. Do not lose the contact and the company; for, it is only when the coal is in contact with the live embers that it can also become a live ember. You are truly fortunate, blessed with a great chance. This chance will not come your way again, beware of that. If you cannot and do not cross the sea of grief now, when again can you get such a chance? Engage yourself in spiritual discipline, spiritual thoughts, and spiritual company. Let the past go its way. At least from now on seek to save yourself. Never yield to doubt or unsteadiness. Do not get shaken in mind; do not allow faith to decline. That will only add to the grief you already suffer from. Hold fast – that must be your vow. (Divine Discourse, Oct 10, 1964)

El águila es acosada por los cuervos mientras tiene un pez en su pico. Revolotean para robar el pescado de su boca. Persiguen al pájaro donde sea que se siente para descansar un poco. Al final, abandona el apego al pez y lo deja caer de su pico. Los cuervos vuelan detrás de él y dejan libre al águila. Por lo tanto, dejen de lado los placeres de los sentidos y los cuervos del orgullo, la envidia, la malicia y el odio volarán, porque solo quieren carroña. The eagle is pestered by crows so long as it has a fish in its beak. They swish past that to steal the fish out of its mouth. They pursue the bird wherever it sits for a little rest. At last, it gives up the attachment to the fish and drops it from its beak; the crows fly behind it and leave the eagle free. So, leave off sense pleasures and the crows of pride, envy, malice and hatred will fly away, for they want only carrion. Practise renunciation from now on, so that you may set out on the journey when the call comes, and you never know when that will happen. Else at that moment, you will be in tears, when you think of the house you have built, the property you have accumulated, the fame you have amassed, and the trifles you have won. Know that all this is for the fleeting moment: develop attachment for the Lord, who will be with you wherever you go. (Divine Discourse, Oct 10, 1964)

El amor de Dios es totalmente desinteresado. Es absolutamente puro, eterno y sin defectos. El amor humano es egocéntrico y está contaminado. Semejante amor no puede fusionarse con el amor de Dios. Solo cuando estén libres de egoísmo, orgullo, odio y envidia, Dios morará en ustedes. Sin tyaaga (renunciación), si una persona está inmersa en los placeres mundanos y lleva una vida trivial, toda su devoción es solo artificial y una especie de autoengaño. Tal devoción no lo conducirá a uno a Dios. Hoy el mundo está lleno de tales personas. La gente afirma que ama a Dios. Pero todos aman a Dios por el propio bien y no por el bien de Dios. Esto es puro egoísmo. Ustedes buscan todas las cosas del mundo por su propio bien. Incluso Dios es buscado por tal razón. Dios no puede ser alcanzado tan fácilmente. El corazón tiene un solo asiento. En él,
hay espacio para una sola persona. Si instalan deseos mundanos en esa silla, ¿cómo pueden esperar que Dios se siente en ella? Dios entrará en ese asiento solo si lo vacían de todas las otras cosas. Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Divino Discurso del 12 de Agosto de 1992.

 

God’s love is totally selfless. It is absolutely pure, eternal and flawless. Human love is self-centred and tainted. Such a love cannot merge with God’s love. It is only when you are free from egoism, pride, hatred and envy that God will abide in you. Without tyaaga (renunciation) if a person is immersed in worldly pleasures and leads a mundane life, all his devotion is only artificial and a kind of self-deception. Such devotion will not lead one to God. Today the world is full of such persons. People claim that they are loving God. But everyone loves God for one’s own sake and not for the sake of God. This is pure selfishness. You seek all things in the world for your own sake. Even God is sought for such a reason. God cannot be got so easily. The heart has only a single seat. There is room in it for only one person. If you install worldly desires on that chair, how can you expect God to sit on it? God will enter that seat only if you empty it
