La gente piensa que cuantas más cosas mundanas tengamos, más felices seremos. Sin embargo, a medida que crecen los deseos, también van en aumento los desengaños y problemas. Tiene que haber un límite a nuestros deseos, apegos y ambiciones. El mundo padece numerosos problemas porque las personas no ponen límite a sus deseos. Es un error buscar en la vida una serie interminable de placeres y comodidades. La verdadera felicidad no puede encontrarse de ese modo. Sin experimentar dificultades y problemas, ¿cómo conocer el valor de la paz y el placer? La vida es un constante alternar entre el placer y el dolor, la alegría y la pena, el calor y el frío. La agria cáscara que cubre a la naranja protege el dulce jugo que hay en el interior. Por lo tanto, consideren al dolor, la ansiedad y la pena como una cubierta que protege la paz y la bienaventuranza que disfrutarán
después. Su mente es la causa de la esclavitud y también de la liberación. (Divino Discurso, 14 de mayo de 1984)

 

People think that the more one has of worldly goods the happier one would be. But, as desires grow, disappointments and troubles also increase. There should be a limit to our desires, attachments and ambitions. The world is suffering from numerous troubles because people set no limits on their desires. It’s a mistake to seek an unending series of pleasures and comforts in life. Real happiness cannot be found that way. Without experiencing difficulties and troubles, how will you know the value of peace and pleasure? Life is a constant alternation between pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, heat and cold. The sour rind that covers an orange protects the sweet juice inside. Hence look upon pain, anxiety and sorrow as the protecting cover for peace and bliss that you will experience later. Your mind is the cause of bondage and liberation as well. (Divine Discourse, May 14, 1984)

Dios pertenece a todos; no es coto privado de nadie. Hay un solo Dios, que se manifiesta de muchas maneras, para agradar a diferentes pueblos. El sadhana, por sí mismo, no es suficiente para comprender esta verdad; también son necesarios el espíritu de indagación y el discernimiento. Hoy, en procura de intereses mundanos y debido a consideraciones comerciales, lo que esencialmente es uno solo está siendo dividido y considerado como muchos. En este proceso, la verdadera Divinidad resulta perdida; la gente no logra distinguir lo verdadero de lo falso, incapaz de comprender la auténtica naturaleza de la Divinidad. Para solucionar esto, es esencial una fe firme. Sean constantes, auténticos y puros. No pueden ganar la gracia de Dios si vacilan a cada momento, y tampoco si su corazón está impuro. Dios juzga al devoto por la pureza del corazón, no por la elaborada adoración que se
haya realizado. Si ustedes no hacen más que limpiar su corazón, ¡Dios entrará en él, y brillará! (Divino discurso, 11 de octubre de 1986)

 

God belongs to everyone and is not the sole preserve of anyone. There is only one God, He manifests Himself in many forms to please different people. Sadhana alone is not enough to understand this truth. The spirit of enquiry and discrimination is also necessary. Today, in pursuit of worldly interests and out of commercial considerations, what is essentially one is split and being regarded as many. In this process, true Divinity is lost; people fail to distinguish between what is true and what is false and are unable to grasp the true nature of the Divine. To fix this, firm faith is very essential. Be steadfast, true and pure. God’s grace cannot be won if you waver from moment to moment, and if your heart is impure. God judges a devotee by the purity of the heart and not by the elaborate worship performed. If you do nothing, but just cleanse your heart, God will enter it and shine! ? Esta es la era de la ciencia y la tecnología. Su civilización y su cultura están sujetas al conocimiento del universo físico. Sin embargo, lo que los estudiantes tienen que aprender hoy es la cultura del alma, el ensanchamiento del espíritu y la purificación del corazón. Este conocimiento conduce al despliegue del espíritu y a la sublimación de la vida. Al mismo tiempo que el desarrollo del intelecto, debe promoverse el florecimiento del corazón. Solo se puede llamar completa aquella educación que fomenta la expansión del hrudaya (el corazón espiritual); debe servir para promover los valores éticos. Solo así será posible llevar una vida bien regulada y disciplinada. Las características de la auténtica educación son el altruismo, la humildad y la sencillez. El edificio de la buena educación descansa sobre cuatro
pilares: el control de uno mismo, el mantenimiento de uno mismo, la confianza en uno mismo, y el sacrificio de uno mismo. (Divino discurso, 23 de junio de 1988)

 

This is the age of science and technology. Its civilisation and culture are bound to the knowledge of the physical universe. What the students have to learn today, however, are the culture of the Soul, the broadening of the Spirit and purification of the Heart. This knowledge leads to the unfolding of the Spirit and the sublimation of life. Along with the development of the intellect, the blossoming of the heart should also be promoted. Only that education is complete which promotes the expansion of the hrudaya (the spiritual heart). It should serve to promote ethical values. Only then will it be possible to lead a well-regulated and disciplined life. The marks of true education are selflessness, humility and unostentatiousness. La tecnología ha hecho posible que se escuche o se vea simultáneamente en miles de hogares a un músico que está cantando en Delhi. Sin embargo, cuando leemos en el Bhagavata que Sri Krishna apareció ante las Gopikas simultáneamente en miles de hogares, muchos se preguntan si es esto creíble. Si los artilugios (yantras) hechos por el hombre pueden ser tan poderosos, ¿por qué dudar del poder de los mantras? The listening or viewing of a musician singing in Delhi in thousands of homes simultaneously, is rendered possible by technology. But when we read in the Bhagavata that Sri Krishna appeared to the Gopikas, simultaneously in thousands of homes, questions are asked whether this is credible. If man-made gadgets (yantras) can be so powerful, why doubt the power of mantras? Sound waves are converted into electrical waves and transmitted through ether. The waves have a permanence in space and can be received by one who can tune in to the vibrations. Likewise, if the all-pervasive Divine is received in the radio receiver of the heart by tuning in with one-pointed devotion, the bliss of that experience will reveal Him to you. It is because the Gopikas were experts in this technology, they could experience the omnipresence of Krishna.
