Así como las tres aspas de un ventilador deben ser activadas por la corriente para rotar como si fueran una sola, hay tres elementos, el gabinete (legislativo), los funcionarios (ejecutivo) y el pueblo, que deben ser activados por el espíritu de servicio y trabajar alegremente al unísono, para la felicidad de la gente. Ninguno de ellos debe ser molestado por la envidia mutua, la codicia, el odio ni la malicia; deben ser activados por el amor y la simpatía. El lubricante que se requiere es Sahana (el autodominio). Ni siquiera entre los miembros de un hogar hay amor o simpatía. El Kali yuga se ha convertido en el Kalaha yuga: la era de las riñas y las guerras. Aún mientras los enemigos están rodeando este país, hay un odio salvaje entre un estado y otro, reclamando «este pedazo de tierra es mío», «aquel pedazo de tierra no puede ser tuyo», olvidando que ambos
son miembros del mismo cuerpo. El destino de las naciones es similar. La integración de los corazones sólo puede ocurrir mediante el reconocimiento de la unidad de todos, y la renuncia a las búsquedas sensoriales. (Divino Discurso, 3 de agosto de 1966)

 

Like the three blades of a fan which must be activated by the current to rotate like one, the three – the cabinet (legislative), the officers (executive) and the people must be activated by the spirit of service, and work joyfully in unison, for the happiness of the people. The three must not be disturbed by mutual envy, greed, hate or malice; they must be activated by love and sympathy. Sahana (forbearance) is the lubrication needed. There is no love and sympathy even between the members of a household. Kali yuga has become Kalaha yuga, the era of wrangling and wars. Even while foes are surrounding this country, there is wild hate between one state and another, claiming ‘this bit of land is mine’, ‘that bit of land cannot be yours’, forgetting that both are limbs of the same body. Similar is the fate of nations too. Integration of hearts can come about only through the recognition of the oneness of all, and the renunciation of sensory pursuits.

El Universo mismo es una universidad, en la que cada ser humano es un estudiante. Cada estudiante sigue aquí una carrera y recibe un título. Cada uno puede escoger la carrera de su agrado. Pero cualesquiera sean las diferentes carreras que puedan estudiar, hay algo común a todas ellas, un propósito y meta común: obtener un título en Amor Divino. En la universidad cósmica, si bien hay estudios científicos, políticos, económicos y demás, lo fundamental para todos ellos es el conocimiento espiritual. Incluso en el campo espiritual hay carreras especiales. Hay un grupo que puede ser descripto como las cinco D: Dedicación, Devoción, Disciplina, Discernimiento y Determinación. Aquellos que hayan dominado las cinco D están capacitados para recibir el amor de Dios. (Divino Discurso, 16 de enero de 1988)

 

The Universe itself is a university in which every human being is a student. Every student here pursues one subject and acquires a degree. Each one may choose a subject of one’s liking. But whatever different subjects they may study, there is one thing common to all of them, one common pursuit and goal: to obtain the degree of Divine Love. In the cosmic university, though there are scientific, political, economic and other studies, what is fundamental to all of them is the spiritual knowledge. Even in the spiritual field there are special subjects. There is one group which may be described as the five D’s: Dedication, Devotion, Discipline, Discrimination and Determination. Those who have mastered the five D’s are qualified to receive God’s love. (Divine Discourse Jan 16, 1988)

El árbol de la vida debe ser regado en sus raíces. Por el contrario, en la actualidad, aquellos que planean elevar el estándar de vida están regando las ramas, las hojas y las flores. Las raíces de ustedes son las virtudes. Deben fomentarlas, para que las flores de las acciones, las palabras y los pensamientos puedan desplegarse en fragancia y dar los frutos del servicio (seva), llenos del dulce jugo de la alegría y la bienaventuranza (Ananda). Planear la alimentación, el vestido y el alojamiento es promover sólo el bienestar del carro; ustedes deben planear para el caballo —la mente del ser humano— que tiene que utilizar todos esos alimentos caros, las hermosas vestiduras, el maravilloso alojamiento y demás posesiones que adquieren. Entrenen a la mente para el elevado y noble propósito de escapar del ego hacia lo Universal. Las reglas deben provenir del interior, no de
fuentes exteriores. Deben controlarse a sí mismos, mediante su fuerza innata. (Divino Discurso, 3 de agosto de 1966)

 

The tree of life must be watered at the roots. Instead, in the present times, those who plan to raise the standard of living are watering the branches, the leaves and the blossoms! Virtues are your roots. You must foster them, so that the flowers of actions, words and thoughts may bloom in fragrance and yield the fruits of service (seva), full of the sweet juice of joy and bliss (Ananda). Planning for food, clothing and shelter is only promoting the wellbeing of the cart; you must also plan for the horse, the mind of the man, which has to use all the expensive food, the beautiful clothing and the wonderful shelter and other material possessions you acquire. Train your mind, for the high and noble purpose of escaping from the ego into the Universal. Regulations must come from within, not from external sources. You must control yourself through your own innate strength. (Divine Discourse Aug 3, 1966)

El futuro del país depende de la habilidad y el compromiso de los jóvenes. Por eso, en ellos debe ser generado el entusiasmo y el estímulo que necesitan. Todas mis esperanzas se basan en los estudiantes, los jóvenes. Ellos Me son muy queridos. Los defectos no son de ellos; son los padres y la escuela quienes tienen la culpa de toda la rebeldía y la violencia. Ellos los conducen en direcciones equivocadas. Encarnaciones del amor: en lugar de llenarse la cabeza de hechos y cifras, llenen su corazón de amor y luz. Tengan confianza en los vastos poderes del alma (Atma), que es su realidad. Tengan fe en la gracia de Dios, que pueden obtener mediante la oración. El respeto mutuo puede edificarse sobre la fe en que todos son hijos de Dios, y todos son divinos. Con estos fundamentos, tendrán cooperación y entusiasmo por el trabajo. Todos deben dar lo mejor de sí, conociendo bien sus deberes
y responsabilidades. (Divino Discurso, 5 de enero de 1975)

 

The future of the country depends on the skill and sincerity of youth. Therefore, the necessary enthusiasm and encouragement must be generated amongst the youth. All my hopes are based on the students, the youth. They are very dear to Me. They are faultless; it is the parents and the school that are at fault for all the waywardness and violence. They lead them into wrong directions. Embodiments of Love, instead of filling your heads with facts and figures, fill your heart with love and light. Have confidence in the vast powers of the soul (Atma), which is your reality. Have faith in the grace of God, which you can secure by prayer. Mutual respect can be built on the faith that all are children of God and all are Divine. With this foundation, you will get cooperation and enthusiasm for work. All of you must do your best, fully knowing your duty and responsibilities. (Divine Discourse Jan 5, 1975)
