Al hacer Kundalini Yoga, la gente practica el control de la respiración. En los ejercicios respiratorios, la inspiración es descripta como Purakam, la espiración como Rechakam, y el contener la respiración, como Kumbhhakam. Esto, por sí solo, no constituye el medio de lograr poderes yóguicos. Purakam es aspirar todo lo que es bueno. Rechakam es abandonar todo lo que es malo. Kumbhakam es retener en el corazón lo que es bueno. Cada ser humano debe practicar este tipo divino de yoga; de hecho, esta debe llegar a ser su meta principal. Puttaparthi es un pequeño caserío. ¿Cómo ha alcanzado esta aldea un estado tan eminente? Pueden hallar la respuesta por sí mismos. No fue simplemente un gran caso de buena fortuna, ni un accidente afortunado. Se debió al poder del pensamiento. Todo pensamiento sagrado tiene el poder de hallar cumplimiento. Por eso, las Escrituras
declararon: «Según como piensas, en eso te conviertes» (Yad bhavam tad bhavati). Cultiven buenos pensamientos, y naturalmente tendrán derecho a sus frutos. (Discurso Divino, 23 de noviembre de 1990)

 

While doing Kundalini Yoga, people practice breath control. In the breathing exercises, inhalation is described as Purakam, exhalation as Rechakam and holding the breath as Kumbhakam. These alone do not constitute the means to achieve yogic power. To breathe in all that is good is Purakam. To give up all that is bad is Rechakam. To retain in the heart what is good is Kumbhakam. Every human being must practice this divine type of yoga; in fact, this must become your primary goal. Puttaparthi is a small hamlet. How has this village attained this eminent state? You can find the answer for yourself. It was not merely a great piece of good fortune or a lucky accident. It is due to the power of thought. Every sacred thought has the power to find fulfilment. Hence, scriptures declared: “As you think, that you become (Yad bhavam tad bhavati)». Develop good thoughts and naturally you will be entitled to the right of its fruits. (Divine Discourse, 23 Nov

Desarrollen la cualidad del amor. Llenen completamente sus vidas con amor. Esta fue la plegaria que las gopikas dirigieron a Krishna. Una vida sin amor, es totalmente estéril. Ustedes son encarnaciones del amor. El amor tiene que ser dirigido hacia lo que es verdadero. Un amor así, debe ser su aliento vital. ¡Encarnaciones del Atma divina! Considerando al amor como la esencia de la Divinidad, deben embarcarse en el servicio amoroso a la sociedad. ¿Por qué se han reunido hoy aquí tantos cientos de miles de personas? Para esto, debe haber alguna razón convincente. Ustedes deben estar buscando algo que no han encontrado en su lugar natal. Aquí, hay Amor Divino. Lo que ha atraído a toda la gente aquí, es el poder del Amor Divino: ése es el vínculo que une a los corazones. En la raíz de todo esto, está la pureza. Donde hay pureza, allí crece el amor.
Cuando la pureza y el amor se juntan, hay Ananda (bienaventuranza). El trabajo que ustedes hagan, o cualquier sacrificio que lleven a cabo, no son de mucha utilidad, en ausencia de amor. (Discurso Divino, 23 de noviembre de 1990)

 

Develop the quality of love. Fill your entire life with love. This was the prayer which the gopikas addressed to Krishna. A life without love is utterly barren. You are the embodiment of love. Love has to be directed towards what is true. Such love must be your life-breath. Embodiments of the Divine Atma! Esteeming love as the essence of Divinity, you must engage yourselves in loving service to society. Why is it that so many lakhs of people have gathered here today? There must be some compelling reason for it. You must be seeking something which you have not found in your native place. Here there is Divine Love. What has drawn all people here is the power of Divine Love – that is the bond uniting hearts. At the root of all this is purity. Where there is purity, there love grows. When purity and love come together, there is Ananda (bliss). Whatever work we do, whatever sacrifices we perform, they are not of much use in the absence of love. (Divine

Para lograr cualquier cosa en la vida, dos cosas son esenciales: fe firme, y amor puro. Para experimentar el amor puro y divino, ustedes tienen que estar preparados a abandonar el egoísmo y el interés personal. Deben desarrollar pureza y constancia. Con fe firme en la Divinidad, deben fomentar el amor a Dios, sin prestar atención a obstáculos ni a sufrimientos. Nunca deben pensar que el placer y el dolor son causados por alguna causa externa; no es así. Son resultado de sus propios pensamientos. No tiene objeto culpar a los demás. Si ustedes desarrollan amor a Dios, ese amor abolirá todo pesar y toda mala tendencia, como son el apego, la ira y la envidia. Deben proseguir tanto la educación espiritual, como los estudios seculares. Tienen que percatarse de que la Naturaleza es también una manifestación de Dios. Por eso, la Naturaleza no debe ser ignorada. La Naturaleza es el efecto, y
Dios es la causa. De esta manera deben reconocer ustedes la omnipresencia de la Divinidad, en el Cosmos entero. (Discurso Divino, 20 de junio de 1996)

 

For achieving anything in life two things are essential: firm faith and pure love. To experience pure, Divine love, you must be prepared to give up selfishness and self-interest. You must develop purity and steadfastness. With firm faith in the Divine, you must foster the love of God regardless of all obstacles and ordeals. You should never think that pleasure and pain are caused by some external forces; it is not so. They are the result of your own thoughts. There is no meaning in blaming others. If you develop the love of God, that love will banish all sorrow and evil tendencies like attachment, anger and envy. One should pursue both spiritual education and secular studies. You have to realise that Nature is also a manifestation of God. Hence, Nature should not be ignored. Nature is the effect and God is the cause. Thus, you should recognize the omnipresence of the Divine in the entire cosmos. (Divine Discourse, 20 June 1996)

Miren a la grulla; camina bastante rápido mientras está en el agua. Pero mientras camina, no puede capturar peces; para eso, debe quedarse tranquila y permanecer inmóvil. Así también, si ustedes conducen su vida diaria con codicia, ira y cualidades similares, no se pueden asegurar el pez de la verdad (sathya), el dharma, y la paz (shanti). Cualquiera que sea la práctica espiritual que se pueda estar realizando, se debe practicar el recuerdo ininterrumpido de Nombre del Señor (nama-smarana). Sólo entonces podrán ustedes dominar los atributos naturales de la codicia, la ira, etc. Todas las escrituras (Shastras) enseñan esta única lección: ya que el Señor es el objetivo universal y este viaje de la vida Lo tiene como destino, manténganlo constantemente a la vista y sometan a la mente para que no se desvíe de su camino elegido. Todas las buenas
cualidades se acumulan automáticamente en la persona que practica el control de la palabra y la constante contemplación del Señor.

Look at the crane; it walks pretty fast while in water. But while walking, it can’t catch fish; for that purpose, it must become quiet and stand motionless. So also, if you lead your daily life with greed, anger, and similar qualities, you cannot secure the fish of truth (sathya), dharma, and peace (shanti). Whatever spiritual practice one may be engaged in, one must practise uninterrupted remembrance of the Lord’s Name (nama-smarana). Only then can you master the natural attributes of greed, anger, etc. All the scriptures (sastras) teach this one lesson: since the Lord is the universal goal and this journey of life has Him as the destination, keep Him constantly in view and subdue the mind so that you do not stray from your chosen path. All the good qualities automatically accumulate with the person who practices control of speech and constant contemplation of the Lord.
