Los deseos que se aferran a la mente son las manchas que empañan la conciencia interior. Controlen sus sentidos; no cedan a sus insistentes demandas de satisfacción. Cuando un cadáver se coloca en una pira, y cuando es encendido, tanto el cadáver como la pira se reducen a cenizas. Así también, cuando los sentidos son negados, la mente también desaparece. Cuando la mente desaparece, la ilusión muere y se logra la liberación. La fe en Dios es el mejor refuerzo para la victoria espiritual. Cuando se deleitan en la contemplación del esplendor del Señor, nada material puede atraerles. Todo lo demás parecerá inferior; sólo les deleitará la compañía de los piadosos y humildes. Cuando actúan con fe y entrega, la gracia fluye a través de ustedes en cada acto que realizan. Entonces estos ya no serán suyos, son Suyos, y no
tendrán preocupación por sus consecuencias. Todas las palabras, pensamientos y acciones que emanan de ustedes estarán saturadas de amor y serán conducentes a la paz. (Discurso Divino, 17 de Marzo de 1966).

 

Desires that cling to the mind are the blemishes that tarnish the inner consciousness. Control your senses; do not yield to their insistent demands for satisfaction. When a corpse is placed on a pyre, and when it is lit, both the corpse and the pyre are reduced to ashes. So too, when senses are negated, mind too disappears. When mind disappears, delusion dies and liberation is achieved. Faith in God is the best reinforcement for spiritual victory. When you revel in contemplation of the Lord’s splendour, nothing material can attract you. All else will seem inferior; the company of the godly and humble alone will be relished. When you act with faith and surrender, grace flows through you into every act of yours. Then they will no longer be yours, they are His, and you will have no concern about the consequences thereof. All words, thoughts and actions emanating from you will be saturated with love and conducive to peace. (Divine Discourse, Mar 17,

No es suficiente que el presupuesto de su hogar esté equilibrado; deben aprender el arte de tener una visión equilibrada de la vida, que no se vea afectada por los triunfos y los problemas, ganancias o pérdidas, victoria o derrota. Este equilibrio sólo puede obtenerse confiando en Dios y en la fe en el Dios que mora en en el interior. Deben aprender a alejarse del odio, la malicia, la avaricia, la ira, la ansiedad, el orgullo y otros obstáculos que se interponen en el camino de su paz interior. La educación debe hacerles monarcas de sus talentos y de sus herramientas para adquirir conocimiento. El ojo, el oído, la lengua, etc. son como caballos salvajes que no tienen brida entre los dientes; aprendan el arte de la meditación (dhyana) a través de la cual los sentidos pueden ser controlados y la voluntad dirigida hacia el interior para el dominio de los sentimientos y las emociones. Deben
prestar atención a una disciplina – el control de sus sentidos; si les dan rienda suelta, les arrastrarán a la calamidad. (Discurso Divino, 26 de julio de 1969).

 

It is not enough if your home budget is balanced; you must learn the art of having a balanced view of life, which will not be affected by triumphs and troubles, gains or losses, victory or defeat. This balance can be got only by reliance on God and faith in the indwelling God. You must learn to steer clear of hatred, malice, greed, anger, anxiety, pride and other obstacles that come in the way of your inner peace. Education must render you a monarch of your talents and your tools for acquiring knowledge. The eye, the ear, the tongue, etc. are like wild horses that have no bridle between the teeth; learn the art of meditation (dhyana) through which the senses can be controlled and the will directed inwards towards the mastery of feelings and emotions. You must heed one discipline – controlling of your senses; if you give them free rein, they will drag you into calamity. (Divine Discourse, July 26, 1969)

¡Muchas mujeres educadas están convirtiendo sus casas en un hotel, con cocinero, jardinero y criadas, que llenan la casa! Se convierten en muñecas centelleantes, revoloteando a través de las habitaciones y son a menudo una piedra de molino alrededor del cuello del marido, a quien ellas conducen y tiranizan, para su frustración. Se dedican a gastar dinero, comprando cosas extravagantes de fantasía y pierden el tiempo holgazaneando y automedicándose para una enfermedad imaginaria. ¡Tengan cuidado! Las madres deben cuidar de sus hijos durante sus primeros años; si los niños son entregados a los sirvientes, aprenderán sus hábitos de vida y de palabra, y sólo llorarán cuando ellos mueran, ¡no cuando muera la madre! ¡Porque el niño empieza a amar a la doncella más que a la madre que se ocupa de ellos! La madre debe preparar los alimentos
en casa ella misma; ¡ya que la comida preparada con amor y servida con una sonrisa es mucho más nutritiva y fortalecedora que la comida comprada en cualquier otro lugar! (Discurso Divino, 26 de julio de 1969)

 

Many educated women are converting their homes into a hotel, with cook, gardener and maids, who clutter the home! She makes herself a scintillating doll, darting in and through the rooms and is often a millstone round the husband’s neck, whom she leads about and lords over, to his discomfiture. She engages herself in spending money, shopping for wayward fancy things and idles away time in lazy lounging and medicating herself for imaginary illness. Beware! Mothers must look after their children during their early years; if the child is handed over to servants, they will learn their habits of living and speech, and will weep only when they die, not when the mother dies! For, the child starts loving the maid more than the mother who takes care of them! The mother must herself prepare food at home; for, food prepared with love and served with a smile is much more sustaining and strengthening than food purchased from elsewhere! (Divine Discourse, 26

Un ser humano no es sólo una criatura con manos, pies, ojos, orejas, cabeza y tronco. Uno es mucho más que el total de todos estos órganos y partes. Éstos son meramente como la imagen cruda que sale del molde. Más tarde, deben ser pulidos, bruñidos, perfeccionados y suavizados a través de los impulsos superiores del intelecto, e intenciones e ideales puros. Entonces uno se convierte en el candidato ideal para la Divinidad, que es el verdadero destino de uno. Los impulsos serán purificados y las intenciones serán elevadas al nivel superior, siempre y cuando se decida dedicar todos los hechos, palabras y pensamientos al Señor. Para esto, la fe en Una Inteligencia Suprema, que concibió, conserva y consume este Universo, es esencial. El siguiente paso es estar convencido de la propia impotencia y angustia ante la propia pena. Luego, rendirse a esa Inteligencia se logra
fácilmente. (Discurso Divino 17 de Marzo de 1966).

 

A human being is not just a creature with hands, feet, eyes, ears, head and a trunk. One is much more than the total of all these organs and parts. These are merely like the crude image that comes out of the mould. Later, they must be ground, scraped, polished, perfected, smoothed, and softened through the higher impulses of the intellect, and pure intentions and ideals. Then one becomes the ideal candidate for Divinity, which is one’s true destiny. The impulses will be rendered pure and the intentions will be raised to the higher level, if and when one decides to dedicate all deeds, words and thoughts to the Lord. For this, faith in One Supreme Intelligence, which conceived, conserves and consumes this Universe, is essential. The next step is to be convinced of one’s own helplessness and distress at one’s own grief. Then surrender to that Intelligence is easily achieved. (Divine Discourse Mar 17, 1966)
