Tu niño te proporciona gran alegría mientras juega y parlotea, pero cuando interfiere con tu trabajo o demanda tu atención mientras tú estás ocupado en algo importante, te irritas mucho con él. De esa forma ¡ tu niño se convierte en fuente de alegría y de pesar para ti ! Recuerda, no hay nada en el mundo que pueda proporcionarte una alegría perfecta. Aún si existiera semejante cosa, cuando la perdieras te pondrías muy triste. Esto está en la naturaleza misma de este mundo, de manera que trata de corregir a la mente, que es la fuente misma de la alegría y de la tristeza. Contrólala y entrénala para que acepte y vea la verdadera naturaleza de este mundo objetivo, que te atrae y te repele alternativamente. ¡ Tal es el verdadero fruto de la educación ! (Divino Discurso, 20 Diciembre 1958).

 

Your child will give you great joy through its play and prattle, but when it interferes with your work or demands your attention when you are working on something important, you get very angry with it. Your child now becomes your source of joy as well as grief! Remember, there is nothing in the world which can give you unmixed joy. Even if there is one such thing, when it is lost, you will become very sad! This is in the very nature of this world. So try to correct the very source of joy and sorrow, the mind. Control your mind and train it to accept and see the real nature of this objective world, which attracts and repels you in turns. This is the real fruit of education! La vida es una peregrinación hacia Dios; el lugar sagrado está allí, lejos. El camino está justo delante de ti; pero a menos que des el primer paso hacia adelante y sigas ese paso con los demás, ¿cómo puedes llegar a él? Comienza con valor, fe, alegría y constancia. Estás obligado a tener éxito. Tu mente e intelecto son dos bueyes atados al carro de tu «yo interior». Los bueyes no están acostumbrados al camino de la Verdad, la Rectitud, la No-violencia, la Paz y el Amor, y arrastran el carro al camino que les es más familiar, a saber, la mentira, la injusticia, la preocupación y el odio. Como su amo, debes entrenarlos para que tomen el mejor camino, para que no causen desastre a sí mismos, al carro al que están atados y a los pasajeros que están en el carro. (Discurso Divino, 12 de diciembre de 1958)

 

Life is a pilgrimage to God; the holy spot is there, afar. The road lies right before you; but unless you take the first step forward and follow that step with others, how can you reach it? Start with courage, faith, joy and steadiness. You are bound to succeed. Your mind and intellect are two bullocks tied to the cart of your ‘inner self’. The bullocks are not used to the path of Truth, Righteousness, Non-violence, Peace and Love, and so they drag the cart to the road that is very familiar to them, namely falsehood, injustice, worry and hatred. As its master, you must train them to take the better road, so that they may not bring disaster to themselves, the cart they are yoked to and to the passengers in the cart. Ustedes sólo conocen el presente, lo que está sucediendo ante sus ojos; no saben que el presente está relacionado con el pasado y está preparando el curso del futuro. Cada nacimiento borra la memoria del ya experimentado. Las personas no se dan cuenta de que el final de este ciclo de nacimiento y muerte está en sus propias manos. El árbol vino de la semilla y la semilla del árbol y así sucesivamente, desde el principio de los tiempos. Puede que no sepan cuál vino primero – árbol o semilla, pero deben saber que pueden poner fácilmente fin al ciclo friendo la semilla. ¡Una semilla frita no brotará de nuevo! Afirman haber dominado sus sentidos y todos sus bajos deseos, pero brotan en la primera oportunidad, igual que la hierba que crece después de la primera lluvia de verano. Así como buscan la ubre de la vaca por la leche que da, sólo busquen
al Señor y Su Gloria en la Naturaleza. De hecho, la naturaleza es útil sólo cuando se agrega a la maravilla y el sobrecogimiento que es capaz de provocar y sostener. (Discurso Divino, 12 de febrero de 1964)

 

You know only the present, what is happening before your eyes; you do not know that the present is related to the past and is preparing the course of the future. Each birth wipes out the memory of the one already experienced. People do not realise that the end of this cycle of birth and death is in their own hands. The tree came from the seed and the seed from the tree and so on, since the beginning of time. You may not know which came first – tree or seed, but you should know that you can easily put an end to the cycle by frying the seed. A fried seed will not sprout again! You claim to have mastered your senses and all low desires, but they sprout at the very first opportunity, just like grass that grows after the first summer shower. Just as you seek the udder of the cow for the milk it gives, seek only the Lord and His Glory in Nature. As a matter of fact, Nature is useful only when it adds to the wonder and awe that it is able to provoke

Recuerda, como el agua subterránea, la Divinidad está allí en todos. El Señor es el Habitante en todos los seres; Él es omnipresente. Él es el Alma (Atma) de cada ser. Él está en ti tanto como en todos los demás. No está más en un ser rico ni es más grande en un ser gordo; Su chispa ilumina la cueva del corazón de cada uno. El sol brilla igualmente sobre todos; Su Gracia está cayendo uniformemente sobre todos. Sólo tú eres el que eriges obstáculos que impiden que los rayos de Su Gracia te den su tibieza. No culpes al Señor por tu ignorancia o estupidez o perversidad. Así como el agua subterránea brota en un manantial espumoso cuando se taladra en esa profundidad, por el constante canto del Nombre Divino, taladra el manantial de la Divinidad, de modo que un día brote abundantemente, otorgándote
frescura y alegría sin fin. (Discurso Divino, 20 de diciembre de 1958)

 

Remember, like underground water, the Divine is there in everyone. The Lord is the Indweller in all beings; He is All-pervading. He is the Soul (Atma) of every being. He is in you as much as in everyone else. He is not more in a rich person or bigger in a fat being; His spark illumines the cave of the heart of every one. The sun shines equally on all; His Grace is falling evenly on all. It is only you that erect obstacles that prevent the rays of His Grace from warming you. Do not blame the Lord for your ignorance or foolishness or perversity. Just as underground water wells up in a gushy spring when a bore is sunk down to that depth, by constant chanting of the Divine Name, touch the spring of Divinity, so that one day it gushes out plentifully, granting you coolness and unending joy. (Divine Discourse, 20 Dec 1958)
