El joven Prahlada constantemente cantaba el nombre de Narayana con fe y amor cuando se enfrentaba con innumerables dificultades. Fué empujado montaña abajo y arrojado al mar, corrido por enormes elefantes y mordido por víboras venenosas, pero no cesó en su canto del nombre Narayana ni una sola vez. Tenía una fe total en que Dios residía en su interior. Esta fe y amor de Prahlada derritió el corazón del Señor, que corrió a su rescate y Se manifestó ante él. Prahlada da testimonio al verso del Gita en cuanto a que la verdadera devoción yace en alcanzar un estado de ecuanimidad, tanto durante el placer como en el dolor («Sukha Duhkhe Same Kritva Labhalabhau Jayajayau»): «permanece equilibrado en la felicidad y en la tristeza, en la ganancia y en la pérdida, en la victoria y en la derrota». Una ecuanimidad tal sólo puede alcanzarse a través
del amor desinteresado, que es la fuerza fundamental. Una vez que desarrolles ese amor inegoísta en tu interior, ya nunca odiarás a nadie. Abandona tu ego y vive tu vida con amor, que no hay mayor devoción que esta. (Divino Discurso, 25 Agosto 1999).

 

Young Prahlada constantly chanted the name of Narayana with faith and love when faced with innumerable hardships. He was pushed from the mountain top and thrown into the sea, trampled upon by huge elephants and bitten by poisonous snakes. But not even once did he give up chanting the name, Narayana. He had total faith that God was within him. Prahlada’s faith and love melted the Lord’s heart, and He rushed to His rescue and manifested Himself. Prahlada stands testimony to the verse of Gita that true devotion lies in being in a state of equanimity during both pleasure and pain. (sukha-duhkhe same kritva labhalabhau jayajayau : remain equipoised in happiness and sorrow, gain and loss, victory and defeat). Such equanimity can be attained only through selfless love – it is the fundamental force. Once you develop selfless love within, you will never hate anybody. Give up your ego and lead your life with love. There is no greater
