La gente piensa en el significado más común de «Krishna» como «alguien que es oscuro», olvidando los significados más profundos y verdaderos del nombre del Señor. «Krishna» tiene tres significados. El primero es «Krishyati iti Krishnah» (El que cultiva es Krishna). ¿Qué es lo que debe ser cultivado ? El terreno del propio corazón (Hridaya -Kshethra). El Señor Krishna cultiva el terreno de nuestro corazón removiendo las malezas de las malas cualidades, regándolo con amor, arándolo mediante Sadhana y sembrando las semillas de la devoción. El segundo significado es «Karshati iti Krishnah» (El que te atrae es Krishna), Krishna te atrae a través de Sus ojos, Su palabra, Su aspecto, y por cada una de Sus acciones. Mediante Sus palabras Él suaviza y calma los corazones, incluso de aquellos rebosantes de odio y los hace regocijarse. Un tercer significado de
Krishna es «Kushyati iti Krishna» (El que es siempre bienaventurado). ¡ Krishna siempre está en estado de bienaventuranza ! Por tal razón, el sabio Garga dió con justeza al niño el
nombre de Krishna. (Divino Discurso, 14 Agosto 1990).

 

People think of the ordinary meaning of ‘Krishna’ as ‘one who is dark’ and forget the deeper and truer meanings of the Lord’s Name. ‘Krishna’ has three meanings. The first one is ‘Krishyati iti Krishnah’ (The one who cultivates is Krishna). What must be cultivated? The field of one’s heart (Hridaya-Kshethra). Lord Krishna cultivates the field of our heart by removing the weeds of bad qualities, watering it with love, ploughing it through Sadhana, and sowing the seeds of devotion. The second meaning is “Karshati iti Krishnah” (The one who attracts you is Krishna). Krishna attracts you through His eyes, His speech, His sports, and by His every action. Through His words, He softens and calms the hearts of even those filled with hatred and makes them rejoice. A third meaning of ‘Krishna’ is ‘Kushyati iti Krishna’ (The One who is always blissful).
Krishna is always in a state of bliss! Sage Garga thus, aptly named the child ‘Krishna.’ (Divine Discourse, Aug 14, 1990)
