Me gustaría decirles algo sobre la actitud que deben cultivar cuando actúan como voluntarios. Yo mismo los he seleccionado a ustedes para ese rol y eso, en sí, es un raro privilegio. Hay tantos entre miles que están rogando de todo corazón que se les dé la oportunidad, pero sólo ustedes han sido elegidos. Debo decirles que el voluntariado no es sólo un rapto de entusiasmo momentáneo, es algo que no puede ser hecho bien sin humildad, una profunda disciplina, y un largo entrenamiento. Ustedes deben desarrollar «Prema» (amor) por todos. No piensen que un voluntario es alguien superior, más devoto que el resto. No miren con aires de superioridad a los demás como si estos fueron estorbos y molestias. Cuando tratan con dureza a alguien, es a Mí a quien están tratando duramente. Cuando insultan a otros, están insultándome a Mí. Si ustedes
sienten amor por Mí, sientan amor por todos, ya que Sai está en todos. (Divino Discurso, 24 febrero 1965).
I would like to tell you something about the attitude you must cultivate when you volunteer. I Myself have selected you for this role and that itself is a rare privilege. There are so many among the thousands who are pleading with all their heart to be given the chance; but you alone have been picked. I must tell you that volunteering is not just a momentary spurt; it cannot be done well without deep discipline, long training and humility. You must develop prema (love) for all. Do not think that a volunteer is a superior person, more devoted than the rest; do not look down upon the rest as disturbances and nuisances. When you treat any one harshly, you are treating Me harshly. When you are insulting any one, you are insulting Me. If you have love for Me, have prema towards all, since Sai is in every one.
