El «deha» o cuerpo es sólo un instrumento para tomar conciencia del «dehi» o Morador Interno. El tomar conciencia de tu unicidad con el «dehi» debe ser tu «deeksha» o meta fija, y la búsqueda de esta debe expresarse en prácticas concretas, como la disciplina y entrenamiento de los sentidos («Nishta» y «Sikshana»). El agua y el fuego individualmente no pueden mover un tren; ambos deben cooperar para producir un tercer elemento, el vapor, que impulsa hacia adelante la máquina. El kerosén y el aire deben unirse para producir el gas que encenderá una lámpara Petromax para dar luz. Se explica el yoga como «chitta vritti nirodha», el sojuzgamiento de las agitaciones mentales. También significa la unión que es posible cuando las agitaciones mentales son refrenadas y se logra la ecuanimidad. La devoción, la sabiduría o la acción («Bhakti», «Jnana» o «Karma»), todas deben
conducir al logro de la ecuanimidad. De otra manera, se convierten simplemente en una farsa. El sojuzgamiento de la mente te conducirá a la meta triunfal. (Divino Discurso, Enero 29, 1965).

 

The deha, the body is but an instrument to realise the Dehi or the Indweller. Realising your oneness with the Dehi must be your deeksha or steady pursuit. And this pursuit must express itself in actual practice as discipline and training of the senses (Nishtha and Sikshana). Water and fire individually cannot move a train; they must both cooperate to produce a third thing – steam. The steam moves the engine forward. Kerosene and air must both unite to form the gas which ignites in the petromax lamp to give light. Yoga is explained as chitta vritti nirodha – the curbing of mental agitations. It also means the Union which is possible when mental agitations are curbed and equanimity is achieved. Devotion, wisdom or action (Bhakti, Jnana or Karma), must all lead to the achievement of equanimity; otherwise, they are simply a sham. The curbing of the mind will take you to the winning post.
