Los cinco elementos han sido creados por la voluntad del Supremo. Deben ser usados con reverencial cuidado y discernimiento vigilante. El uso imprudente de cualquiera de ellos sólo repercutirá sobre ustedes con un perjuicio tremendo. La naturaleza exterior debe ser manipulada con discreción, precaución y admiración. Lo mismo con respecto a nuestra «naturaleza» interior, y también a los instrumentos internos. De ellos, dos son capaces de causar enorme daño: la lengua y nuestra lujuria. Mientras la lujuria es despertada e inflamada por el alimento que se consume y la bebida que se toma, la lengua necesita mayor atención. En tanto que el ojo, el oído y la nariz tienen un único uso, la lengua está a disposición de dos propósitos: juzgar el sabor y pronunciar palabras, símbolos de comunicación. Ustedes deben controlar la lengua con doble
cuidado, porque puede dañarlos de dos maneras. El sabio Patanjali, autor de los Yoga Sutras, ha declarado que cuando se ha conquistado la lengua, la victoria está asegurada. – Divino Discurso, 23 de noviembre de 1968

 

All the five elements have been created by the will of the Supreme. They must be used with reverential care and vigilant discrimination. Reckless use of any of them will only rebound on you with tremendous harm. Nature outside must be handled with discretion, caution and awe. It is the same with our inner ‘nature’ and internal instruments too! Of these, two are capable of vast harm – the tongue and one’s lust. Since lust is aroused and inflamed by the food consumed and the drink taken in, the tongue needs greater attention. While your eye, ear and nose have single uses, the tongue makes itself available for two purposes: to judge taste and to utter word – symbols of communication. You must control the tongue with double care, since it can harm you in two ways. Sage Patanjali, the author of Yoga Sutras has declared that when tongue is conquered, victory is yours!
