Quienquiera que uno pueda ser, en cualquier condición, si uno no da espacio al desánimo, si uno no tiene miedo en absoluto, y si recuerda al Señor con fe inquebrantable y sin ningún motivo ulterior, todo el sufrimiento y el dolor se alejarán. El Señor nunca preguntará en ningún momento la casta a la que pertenecen ni los preceptos o las tradiciones que siguen. La devoción no consiste en el uso de una vestimenta de color ocre, la organización de festivales, la ejecución de sacrificios rituales, raparse el cabello, llevar la olla de agua o la varilla, llevar el cabello enmarañado, etc. En cambio, las características de la devoción son: una mente pura (antahkarana), ininterrumpida (no importa lo que uno esté haciendo) contemplación en Dios, la sensación de que todo es la creación del Señor, y por lo tanto a) no apegarse a
los objetos de los sentidos; b) el abarcar a todos en igualdad de amor; y c) la dedicación a la palabra verdadera. (Prema Vahini, Capítulo 61)

 

Whoever one may be, in whatever condition, if one gives no room for dispiritedness, if one has no fear at all, and if one remembers the Lord with unshaken faith and without any ulterior motive, all suffering and sorrow will fall away. The Lord will never enquire at any time the caste to which you belong or the precepts or traditions that you follow. Devotion doesn’t consist in wearing an ochre cloth, organising festivals, performing ritual sacrifices, shaving off the hair, carrying water pot or rod, matting the hair, etc. Instead, the characteristics of devotion are: a pure mind (anthah-karana), uninterrupted (whatever one may be doing) contemplation on God, the feeling that everything is the Lord’s creation, and therefore a) non-attachment to sense objects; b) the embracement of all in equal love; and c) dedication to true speech.
