El que ve no debe apegarse a lo visto; este es el camino para liberarse. El contacto de los sentidos con el objeto suscita deseo y apego; esto conduce al esfuerzo, y finalmente a la euforia o a la desesperación. Luego viene el miedo a la pérdida, o la pena por el fracaso, y la cadena de reacciones se va haciendo cada vez más larga. Con muchas puertas y ventanas abiertas a los cuatro vientos, ¿cómo podría sobrevivir la llama de la lámpara? Esa lámpara es la mente, que debe arder serenamente, inafectada por las demandas duales del mundo exterior. La total entrega al Señor es una manera de cerrar puertas y ventanas, porque entonces, en Saranagati (la completa entrega al Señor), uno está desprovisto de ego, y por lo tanto no resulta azotado por la pena ni por la alegría. La entrega total les permite a ustedes servirse de la gracia del Señor para enfrentar todas las
crisis de su carrera, y los hace heroicos y mejor preparados para las batallas de la vida. (Discurso Divino, 13 de enero de 1965)
The seer should not attach himself to the seen; that is the way to get free. The contact of the senses with the object arouses desire and attachment, this leads to effort and either elation or despair. Then, there is the fear of loss or grief at failure, and the train of reactions lengthens. With many doors and windows kept open to all the winds that blow, how can the flame of the lamp within survive? That lamp is the mind, which must burn steadily unaffected by the dual demands of the world outside. Complete surrender to the Lord is one way to close windows and doors, for, then, in Saranagati (complete surrender to God), you are bereft of ego and so, you are not buffeted by joy or grief. Complete surrender enables you to draw upon the grace of the Lord for meeting all the crises in your career and it renders you heroic and better prepared for life’s battles.
