No corran detrás de todos los que repiten los materiales de libros de texto y se ponen el manto de capucha de fakir (mendicancia). Examinen su conducta diaria, sus motivos, sus consejos y la relación entre lo que dicen y lo que hacen. Apéguense a su fe; ¡no cambien su lealtad tan pronto como suceda algo extraño o alguien susurre acerca de alguien más! No arranquen la foto de Sai Baba de la pared y cuelguen alguna otra imagen en su primera decepción. Déjenselo todo a Él; dejen que se lleve a cabo Su voluntad, esa debería ser su actitud. A menos que atraviesen todas las circunstancias, ¿cómo pueden endurecerse? Den la bienvenida a la luz y a la sombra, al sol y a la lluvia. No piensen que solo son devotos aquellos que adoran una foto o imagen con parafernalia pomposa. Quien camina recto por el sendero moral, quien actúa como habla y habla como lo ha visto, quien se
derrite ante la aflicción ajena y se regocija ante la alegría de otra persona, ese es un devoto, y tal vez más devoto. – Discurso divino, 26 de febrero de 1961.

 

Do not run after all and sundry who repeat textbook materials and wear the cloak of fakir-hood (mendicancy). Examine their daily conduct, motives, their advice, and the relationship between what they say and do. Stick to your faith; do not change your loyalty as soon as something untoward happens or someone whispers about somebody else! Do not pull down Sai Baba’s picture from the wall and hang some other picture at your first disappointment. Leave all to Him; let His will be carried out — that should be your attitude. Unless you go through the rough and the smooth, how can you be hardened? Welcome the light and the shade, the sun and the rain. Do not think that only those who worship a picture or image with pompous paraphernalia are devotees. Whoever walks straight along the moral path, whoever acts as they speak and speaks as they have seen, whoever melts at another’s woe and exults at another’s joy — they are devotees,
perhaps greater devotees.
