Proveer casa, ropa y comida da felicidad física (Sukha); educar en destrezas e información mundana da un medio de vida. Pero las escrituras antiguas proclaman: “Na Sukat Labhate Sukhama” (La felicidad real y duradera no se puede obtener por medio de la felicidad física). La felicidad que no es sacudida, disminuida o modificada por la buena o la mala suerte puede venir solo disciplinando la mente y la fe en un Poder Superior que guíe todas nuestras palabras, pensamientos y actos. La lámpara de esa conciencia espiritual debe ser encendida y alimentada, para que cada ser pueda andar por esa senda y actuar sin sufrir daños. Las Escrituras también declaran que se puede alcanzar esa dicha eterna a través del deber realizado en forma de ‘adoración’. La dedicación a sus deberes revela la Unidad del Universo, cuando la Inteligencia sea liberada del polvo de la duda y el engaño. Sus
cuerpos son un templo del Señor y el ambiente dentro de ese templo, por su propia esencia, se llena del amor hacia todos los seres.(Discurso Divino, Escuela Secundaria para Niñas ‘Anantapur’, Día de la Escuela, 1966)

 

Providing housing, clothing and food gives physical happiness (Sukha); educating in skills and worldly information gives a means of livelihood. But ancient scriptures proclaim, Na Sukat Labhate Sukham – Real and lasting happiness cannot be won through physical happiness. Happiness that is not shaken, diminished or modified by good fortune or bad can come only by disciplining the mind and faith in a Higher Power that guides all your words, thoughts and deeds. The lamp of that spiritual awareness must be lit and fed, so that every being can walk that path and proceed unharmed. The Scriptures also declare that you can attain that everlasting happiness through duty performed as ‘worship’. Dedication to your duty reveals the Oneness of the Universe when your Intelligence is cleared of the dust of doubt and delusion. Your body is a temple of the Lord and the atmosphere of this temple is by its very nature filled with love for all beings. (Divine Discourse,
