Toda persona es responsable de cometer errores sin ser consciente de ello. Sin importar lo brillantes que sean el fuego o la luz, algo de humo emanará de ellos. Así también, cualquiera que sea la buena acción que una persona pueda realizar, mezclada con ella habrá una mínima traza de maldad. Sin embargo, se deben hacer esfuerzos para asegurar que la maldad se reduzca al mínimo, que sea mayor el bien y menor el mal. Naturalmente, en el ambiente actual, puede que no tengan éxito en el primer intento. Deben pensar cuidadosamente sobre las consecuencias de lo que hacen, dicen, o ejecutan. De la misma manera que quieran que los demás los respeten, o los amen, o se comporten con ustedes, de esa misma manera deben primero comportarse con los demás, y amarlos y respetarlos. Sólo entonces los demás los respetarán. De lo contrario, si ustedes no aman ni respetan a los
demás, y se quejan de que no los están tratando adecuadamente, están llegando sin duda a una conclusión equivocada. (Prema Vahini, Capítulo 63)

 

Every person is liable to commit mistakes without being aware of it. However bright the fire or light, some smoke will emanate from it. So also, whatever good deed a person might do, mixed with it will be a minute trace of evil. But efforts should be made to ensure that the evil is minimised, that the good is more and the bad is less. Naturally in the present atmosphere, you may not succeed in the very first attempt. You must carefully think over the consequences of whatever you do, talk, or execute. In whatever way you want others to honour you, or to love you, or to behave with you, in the same way you should first behave with others, and love and honour them. Then only will those honour you. Instead without yourself honouring and loving others, if you complain that they are not treating you properly, it is surely a wrong conclusion. (Prema Vahini, Ch 63)
